This was actually a good first episode to a show i know nothing about! Honestly i came into this knowing noting about it or what to expect! So what did I get? I got introduced to a main characters who is more than he seems as well as a premise that left me invested and wanting to know more! There are themes such as love, purpose and the overall meaning of life!

Right know i have a lot of questions, but I see that as a good thing, cause that makes me wonna watch more!

The show is also no stranger to violent and graphic scenes!

I really do think Mappa did a great job of creating a unique style for this show! Animation-wise, this already feels like its own thing! I like the colourgrading which really stands out in this show! Overall great qnimation!

Opening is also very good both in terms of song and visuals!

Cant wait to go on this dark fantasy journey!

So Jigokuraku.., I really enjoyed this premier!

Jigokuraku Episode 1 - I already hooked to be honest... I was as impressed with how they set up the world and characters, especially with Gabimaru, the main character. I really like his motive, don't get me wrong it's simple, but in the last scene, when he said that he will return to her.., I really liked that moment. I'm curious about his character, and this world.

I Hope the story continues as good as it started.

The OP visual and the art style are amazing, and I also hope that the animation quality stays consistent, because it was solid during first episode.

And I also wanna mention the music in this episode.., it really enhanced the atmosphere.

Thank You Mappa for bringing this to life. I'm exited to see this story!

Show real promise
I see people putting this in a trio of darker shonen anime - and naturally, it's piqued my attention.

The first episode of Hell's paradise is undoubtedly interesting. The main character seems to change amazingly as the episode goes on, and as the opening was so abrupt you just have to watch on to know why this is all like it is.

Art by Mappa once more, and oh boy these guys need a rest, because they are carrying anime on its back right now with Vinland Saga, AOT and this. I really want to see what happens next. Character design, plot and fights all show mad promise, and I am intrigued by how this is going to unfold.

9/10 first episode, a really strong way to set the preface of what looks like a very interesting new shonen.

Melodramatic Garbage

The writing is incredibly stupid and the main character completely sucks. He's a power fantasy with a weak backstory and his entire personality is that he doesn't want a personality. Wow isn't that cool!!! Ugh, puke.

The relationship between the main character and his wife is paper thin and totally forced. They don't behave like actual people, with you know, a brain. They have zero chemistry and don't hold real conversations with each other, but somehow we're supposed to buy that they're deeply in love.

The whole episode is basically just trying to show how powerful the main character is even though he is apathetic. It's boring and hackneyed and ends with a super cringe change of heart.

This show is brain dead. Everything is forced in the bluntest, most ham-fisted ways possible. I really don't get how it's highly rated.
