Nothing extraordinary...

For an action/comedy/romance in the Korean cinema, then "The Perfect Couple" (aka "Choi-gang lo-maen-seu") failed to stand out from so many other movies in the genre. That being said, I am not saying that it is bad movie, it was just plain and quite generic, mediocre if you will.

The concept idea of the story was alright. A police officer suffering from an odd phobia bumps into a journalist whom seems to have a lot of bad luck, and his life changes instantly.

While the story idea was alright, the movie just lacked moments where you would be laughing. They simply weren't there! I laughed once, and it was when a supporting character was hit by a Molotov cocktail. In a movie like this it is crucial that there is comedy with the main characters. But director Jeong-Woo Kim just failed to deliver.

The lead actress portraying the journalist carried the movie pretty much all by herself, as the male lead actor just lacked on-screen charisma and wasn't particularly good at acting.

"The Perfect Couple" failed to impress or make a lasting impression. You are better off spending your money and time elsewhere. It is also one of those movies, should you watch it, that you will watch once and never again.

A fun cop movie

Warning: Spoilers
Is this movie a blockbuster? No. But it's great for when you want to watch something casual with humor and action. Lee Dong Wook doesn't disappoint; his character is surprisingly afraid of sharp/pointy obects, which gets in the way of his job - he's a cop! He gets "entangled" with a quirky reporter when they are both investigating a drug ring. Hyeon Yeong, the main actress, has an annoying voice but it really matches her quirky personality. These two constantly run into each other and finally have to work together in the investigation, which leads to hilarious scenes. I don't really see romance here; they don't really hook up, and in my opinion, they don't have a lot of sexual chemistry, it's more platonic "I can't believe I have to work with this moron". Which is refreshing, because not every movie has to have a romantic plot. When these two work together everything goes wrong - including throwing molotov cocktails at the gangsters!
