Eclectic artists, exciting finale, inspiring and moving shows but boring mentor visits and not creative process driven

Did choosing Peregrine over Nicole pay off ? Would carpenter Miles finally channel his chaotic energy ? What about Abdi heart and soul ? You can question the judges but you can't question their respective talent. What a creative pool ! I couldn't wait diving in it to feel some refreshing emotions.

As expected some of them delivered but as often I couldn't respond at all at Miles work. How boring and cryptic ! An artist shouldn't have to tell a whole story to explain his show, the pieces should do it for itself. So early on I bet on Abdi and Peregrine but of course according to the previous challenges I knew Miles could be the winner despite my opinion. In the end both artists moved me but my sweet vote was for Peregrine. What a wonderful world ! From the colorful wax statues to the mind blowing photograph of the twins the amount of work was just dazzling, dare I say it. But Abdi's spirit also shined even if I found his show a bit too academic. He's skilled but I found his pieces weren't connected. Some sculptures, a photograph then some paintings. To sum things up it really depends of what makes you tick. If you can get into Miles head, good for you. But with no doubt it was intriguing and the editing made the end result even more unpredictable.

As for the development I found Simon's visits a bit boring, far less interesting than Tim Gunn's in Project Runway season 5. The problem is that we didn't learn much about their processes. Miles ? We didn't see him do his do-it-yourself magic. As for the others it was nice to learn more about their life and see where they work but it wasn't enlightening and inspiring enough. Instead I think they should have spent more time covering the shows. For example they could have asked Peregrine how she did her beautiful wax creatures. An other suggestion would have been to get the eliminated contestants involved in the installation, like in Top Design's season 2.

Did the winner deliver and deserve its prizes ? Will sparkling Peregrine lose herself in Waxland ? Is Abdi a former comics stripper ? Will Miles ever guest star as a carpenter in Top Design season 3 ? The future is obscure but one thing is sure, the finale wasn't little but it could have been bigger.
