Not a great movie, but a must-see for fans of the classic show.
lnvicta28 January 2016
Entourage isn't a very good movie. It's hard to even call it a movie because it's basically Entourage season 9 crammed into an hour and a half theatrical film. It picks up right where the show left off and continues with the same subtle banter humor and Ari Gold proving again why he's one of the best characters ever written. People who haven't seen the show will be confused, or at least bored, with the characters because they really have no development throughout this movie. There are simply too many characters to make a movie like this work. A mini-series? Absolutely. It would've been great to flesh out some of these subplots with multiple episodes. But a feature film? It doesn't quite work.

The entourage are up to their usual shenanigans. Vince wants to direct a movie, Drama wants to get his acting break, Turtle wants to go out with Ronda Rousey, and E is having a baby with Sloan. Ari's storyline is by far the most engaging. Being a studio head now, everything is riding on Vince's movie to perform well in order to save Ari's (and Vince's) reputation, and in order to do that he needs to get funds from two financiers from Texas - a father-son duo played to perfection by Billy Bob Thornton and Haley Joel Osment respectively. Oddly enough, I found their scenes to be the most interesting of the movie. Larsen (Thornton) sends his son Travis (Osment) to Hollywood with Ari to see the movie early and to ensure it's worth putting up the extra funds, and Ari LOATHES it. Some of the funniest scenes come from the stress these guys put on Ari and there are a couple classic Ari outbursts. What Thornton and Osment really bring to the movie is a reality check. Larsen only cares about money - he never watches the movies, he's simply an investor, so naturally he and Ari clash when it comes to defending Vince's artistic freedom. It was these moments where Entourage felt more like a movie. There was tension, conflict, and although the Texans are written as the villains, their motives are actually grounded and understandable, especially for a movie as extravagant and gratuitous as this.

To get the most out of Entourage, it must be seen directly after the show. It feels like the show never skipped a step. The writing is on point, the characters are the ones you know and love from before, and it has even more celebrity cameos (probably the most in any movie ever). I'd love to see an Entourage mini-series if they decide to continue this, but I was perfectly satisfied with this movie granting some closure to the group. There's even a priceless shot of the entourage walking down the red carpet with The Who's "Eminence Front" playing in the background. It's perfect.

If you've never seen the show and are expecting a standard raunch comedy, then Entourage might fall flat. However, if you want to make the most out of it, watch the show (it's totally worth it) and then the movie, and it will make the experience better by a tenfold. It's an hour and a half of the gang up to their usual antics, and it's a boatload of fun.

Much better then it got credit for. Fans will love it

The boys pick up right where the series ended and they don't skip a beat. Ari is quick to offer Vince the lead role in his first picture as studio head. Only problem is Vince has decided the next movie he does he also wants to direct. So with the movie going over budget with the boys focus quite a few problems as usual. Plus turtle is now a multi- multimillionaire just thought I should mention that. Now Vince is having problems with the financers of the movie over a girl. Not only does he want drama replaced he also wants Vinny the star and director replaced, are you willing to put anything on the line to stop that. Great for fans only problem I had with it is that it had to squeeze a season worth of material into a half and hour movie. People who have not seen the show will be able to follow along although they will not get many references that people who watch the show will. There was plans to make a sequel and possibly a trilogy but with low box office success that unfortunately may not be the case. Hopefully they can come up with a budget to at least make a sequel. Plus there's cameos from about anyone you can think of from common to Russell Wilson to Mark Wahlberg to Liam Neeson. Definitely worth checking out especially if you're a fan of the show.

I really like the vibe of this film (and TV series)
zrlanning27 January 2019
This entire film set in LA evokes a bright vibe within and seeing all of the interaction and dialogue between the characters was masterfully written. Every film begins with the writing and when that's on point everything else shines. The scenery is amazing as well lavish houses, it keeps the audience intrigued, and entertained with plently of laughs in there as well . Definetly a dramedy!

Won't blow you away but still a 7

This movie is not up to par on the series. I wasn't blown away after watching but not disappointed either. Still it was nice to see the boys back on the screen and thought the ending was a good fit.

Unsympathetic, superficial characters in an unworldly world
Gordon-1122 August 2015
This film tells the story of a Hollywood studio executive who has to fight against the odds to keep the production of his big budget movie alive, despite of all the problem he faces.

"Entourage" may be studded with stars, but it does not mean it is any good. The lead characters are portrayed to be superifical, hedonistic and are simply not pleasant to be around with. The film shows them having parties, talking rubbish and they never actually seem to be doing any work, which is hardly inspiring to the people hoping to have a career in the film industry. I suspect it does not do the hard working filmmakers justice either.

I just did not care about the plot at all. The plot is delivered in a piecemeal manner, because the cameos have to go somewhere but they all add nothing to the plot. Whether Ari Gold gets the film financed, or whether the film actually ges finished is of no consequence because the film does not make me care about any of the characters. The only scene I really liked was the Liam Neeson cameo. I think there is really no point for this film, apart from pointlessly trying to squeeze as many stars in one film as possible.

For someone who never watched the show I did enjoy this much more than I expected to. Fans of the show may like it a lot.
cosmo_tiger7 September 2015
"It doesn't matter what a movie costs, only what it makes." Vince (Grenier) is trying to decide on his next movie project. When he chooses a big budget special effects driven movie everyone is excited, until he announces he want's to direct. His new agent Ari (Piven) is willing to help him, but when a problem occurs with the financiers the movie, and everyone's careers are on the line. I have never seen this series. The reason I never wanted to see it was that the characters, from what I saw in the previews, really bugged me. It seemed like a Sex in the City with men and the self absorbed-ness of that really turned me off. I had that mindset going in to this. I have to say that I did think the movie was actually really entertaining. A few of the characters did really annoy me and based off of that I still will not watch the series. The characters are fine in small doses, so that said I will admit that I liked this movie. Overall, for someone who never watched the show I did enjoy this much more than I expected to. Fans of the show may like it a lot. I surprisingly give it a high B.

You ever decide to meet up...
CyberZeus6725 August 2015
Warning: Spoilers
...with some "friends" you haven't seen in a long while - typically those you used to hang with like in your college years and mid-20s - and you come home remembering why you lost touch and that you're glad it's all behind you??? This movie is kinda like that...

Don't get me wrong - I TOTALLY LOVE THE GUYS...BUT...this movie just tried way too hard. Seriously, for the first 30 minutes, it really felt like 4 single guys who hit mid-life went down to Vegas to keep the dream alive. Every single thing we loved about the series became a used and worn cliché in this movie. Almost every big name who had a cameo in the series also had a cameo in this. Markie Mark, Pharrell, TI, etc...list just goes on and on...BUT I will say seeing Jessica Alba drop the F-BOMB like 4 times in a row was a nice treat. But that aside, this was in a word...

EHHH

I definitely expected a whole lot more rather than more of the same. Maybe what I hoped for was simply impossible to deliver. That the 4...scratch that...5...would have grown (i.e. evolved) a bit yet still be kicking butt in the movie game. Instead I got 5 guys who did the same crap but with more years behind them...said another way, no evolution and therefore, no excuse for their antics. Case in point - Sal...errrrr, I mean Turtle...blazin' down Rodeo in the Escalade running down Ronda Rousey just so he can what??? Get a date??? He said he knew her from a while back - so then DUDE, give her a call but don't go all Fast n' Furious only to get nearly clubbed like a frickin' harp seal...

Yet, I still gave this 7 stars...why??? Like I said because I just love the guys...or maybe it's the dream they represent that I love. Bein' in Hollywood with all the pretty people - hell maybe even bein' one of the pretty people - and makin' movies. What kid wouldn't love that??? Problem is, Vinnie and crew just aren't kids anymore...

Worth a watch but set expectations accordingly...

The boys are back for one last time
Kingslaay29 December 2018
Many of us were swept away with the show Entourage, it was different and then soon became very addictive. It was great to see the crew again up to their usual antics.

One thing that always impresses me is how they always bring in the big names and celebrities effortlessly. The film was pretty much like a long episode of Entourage, why mess with a great formula. Having said that it resembled some of the okay to good episodes in some of their later seasons. One of those episodes that you quickly watched to get to the next one. Not a great film but a decent one. Interesting how E has become the most 'Hollywood' out of all of them, even more than Vince in this film so good irony. So good to see the boys back in action once more.

A very good movie if you are a lover of the series.
israelgodinezcastillo18 August 2015
You probably don't understand the movie or like it if you never watch the series, but if you watched the series you probably love it, is great the last adventure of the gang, so you will enjoy a one last time of entourage in 140 minutes of memories and comedy. If you don't watch the series, you may probably see this movie and don't understand a thing, or maybe you probably don't find it funny, so my advice is very simple, if you watch the full series, you're gonna love it, if you don't you can probably say that this movie is bad, but personally i love it. The movie follow the story and doesn't miss a detail of it. PS: i love Johnny Drama.

A 2-hour episode of Entourage
oglurye15 June 2015
People who walked into the theater expecting to see something different only have themselves to blame. The show and the movie are both lifestyle porn - nice cars, scantily clad women, carefree lifestyle and, of course, gratuitous nudity and use of profane language. That's it. It is not bringing any artistic merit to the table, but nor is it claiming to be. To put it bluntly - if you were a fan of the show, go see it, it's pretty much more of the same. You get some cameos from whoever flavor of the month is today, E deals with girl problems, Drama is being Drama, Ari provides much needed comic relief. Lloyd is just there for diversity, I guess. If you haven't seen the show or didn't like it for whatever reason - go see something else. It's not for you. Trust me.

It's for fans who miss the show
randomStuff10115 September 2015
It's no masterpiece, but they weren't aiming for that. It's for fans of the show who want to see the boys back together. A kind of celebration of Entourage, with cameos all over the place - fun to watch. It's lost some charm of the TV show, but it's still escapism and entertainment.

It's out of its depth as a movie on the big screen though, but it's better than nothing. It's a good way to wrap the whole thing up. I highly doubt we'll see them ever again.

This time, there's more money, more girls, and more of everything. I'm giving it 6 out of 10 because it tries to fit too much into 90 minutes which would have taken possibly a whole season otherwise.

It's clunky and heavy-handed compared with the TV show. The problem with a movie is that we don't get the cliff-hangers we got with each episode. Nor do we get to see details explored in depth. In a movie, everything is compressed into 90 minutes, and it changes the flow to something that doesn't feel right.

The writing is "safe". It's in 'movie-mode', and there's a formula at work. Again, less charm than the TV show.

Lastly, the movie that Vince directs, "Hyde" looks like a music video clip not a movie. We see only a small clip, but it looks like a trailer.

We should have seen more on set of Hyde, with Vince directing. But we don't see much at all because there's too many girls in bikini scenes to get through. They never showed Vince working his magic on set, which I think could have been explored more to gain at least some credibility and rise, even for a moment, above the juvenile materialism.

Some of the comedy is a bit weak too. But in the end, it's Entourage, so you go along for the ride, and enjoy it even with its flaws.

If you loved the TV show you will love the movie. If you didn't then you may not really.
terry-nicolau5 August 2015
If you were an avid fan of the TV show you will LOVE this movie and be waiting for the next one. Throw in our favorite 4 is back, Ari Gold being well ARI GOLD, an interesting but simple story line and a cameo of guest star appearances from basically everyone Mark Walberg knows or who he has acted with and it works so well!

The reviews on this page are harsh it is almost like the people were never fans of the series yet expected the movie to be different?!

Best example I can give, is someone going to watch the Family Guy movie or the Simpson movie, yet hates the series, and is disappointed to find they dislike the movie - SHOCKER!

The Hollywood Selfie that is Entourage is Back, and Better than ever.
Matt-144-79200922 May 2015
The boys are back in town! Vinny, Drama, Turtle, Eric and Ari pick up right where the hit HBO series left off; with a handful of new colorful characters and a whole town full of Hollywood cameos. All the original cast is back to reprise their now famous roles. This run Vince sets his sights on a directing spot for his next big picture as the team scrambles to get it off the ground. They battle press, financial backers, budgetary issues, casting and their own libidos to keep the movie from crashing and burning. As an added bonus all of our Entourage players, (minus Ari of course) find themselves single as the story begins. Allowing for maximum girl chasing hijinks and over the top wild parties. If you are a die-hard Entourage fan, this film is a must see. Like many of my fellow Entourage followers, I felt shorted by the series finale. They tried too hard to wrap everything up in a happily ever after bow. The show works best when the group is chasing women and partying hard. Entourage is the male counterpart to Sex in the City. A fantasy world for men, to live vicariously through the characters. Rich single men, shoes and designer couture is to Sex in the City; what smoking hot naked Hollywood starlets and expensive cars are to Entourage. The movie fully redeems the franchise and puts it back firing on all 12 cylinders; chock full for T and A with solid laughs throughout. Director, writer and creator of Entourage Doug Ellin and Producer Mark Wahlberg have tapped into the formula that made the series so popular, and set us up for the best feature length episode yet. There is no end to the amount of celebrities that come out to make cameos for this film. And why not, Hollywood loves films about Hollywood. It's a narcissistic town that can rarely miss a chance to make a cinematic selfie. Going back to films like Singing in the Rain (1952), Sunset Boulevard (1950) to the most recent best picture Birdman (2014), films about Hollywood are never in short supply. The soundtrack on this film is also very well put together. Some great tracks by artists like Royal Blood, The National and Tame Impala really get the movie's high octane momentum rolling. Good tunes aside if you are a stranger to the Entourage world this film may not be your movie. Of course the film is aimed at fans of the HBO series and with that demographic there should be little to no complaints. The greatness of this film lies in the eyes of people who are immersed in the world crated by Ellin and Wahlberg. If you are a stranger to the Entourage series, watch a couple of episodes to see if it's your speed before you go diving into the deep end with this movie. Terrible
roslansky4 October 2015
I was excited to see this movie because I was a fan of Entourage. I was severely disappointed. There is no point to this movie at all. None what-so-ever. The acting is horrible! I struggled to watch it all the way through. I wish I had not wasted my time and money on this one. It was much more shallow than the series. There was no depth at all to any of the characters. Not a single joke made me laugh. There were plenty of surprise appearances that were so insignificant they didn't even make it worth watching. There were hot cars, beautiful people, and gorgeous houses but no substance. Definitely a failed attempt. Again, the acting was awful!! I do not recommend this movie to anyone.

Sad sad movie
BronxLens19 June 2015
Just watch this video review of Entourage, the movie, and you'll be explained why this movie is not worth even watching when it comes out on cable, and much less buying it when it comes out on DVD: https://www.youtube.com/watch? v=mfgCZ9lgQ3I&app=desktop On a more personal note, this is like watching a 2-hour long episode of a very tepid copy of the cable show. Yes, there are cable episodes that stand alone much better than this mediocre movie reinterpretation. This movie should have not been made in the first place. The same thing happened with The Flintstones, Get Smart, etc. So many great books are out there begging to be made into an original story, why do movie studios insist of rehashing same old stories?

If you liked the show you'll enjoy the movie enough.
BenSemisch29 December 2015
The film picks up where the TV show left off and feels like a bit of a hyper short season. Pretty much what you expect, they make a movie and it has problems. There's some sex, there's some feel good moments between favorite characters. It's pretty much what you'd expect from an Entourage movie.

Now whether or not anyone actually wanted this movie is irrelevant. This film is the kind of thing you put on in the background while you do something else - maybe something just boring enough to watch with a girl you want to hook-up with, which at the end of the day probably sits just fine with the people who made this movie.

That said my one negative comment about this film, isn't even really about the film, it's that this film got made in the first place, taking Adrian Greenier away from his recent Documentary projects which are way more interesting than Entourage, even when it was at it's prime. If you have a chance, check out his docs, you won't regret it.

A fun, simple comedy and extension of the series
gavinp92 January 2018
If you haven't seen any of the 'Entourage' TV series (which ran from 2004-2011), then you may occasionally be at a loss during the film. The film starts off with a brief 'where-are-they-now' (on a yacht in the Mediterranean, surrounded by dozens of women, obviously), but doesn't offer much background otherwise, assuming if you're watching it, you already know the four main characters - Vince (Grenier), Eric (Connolly), Turtle (Ferrara) & Drama (Dillon) - plus Ari (Piven), who is almost more essential to the show/film than any of the others.

As usual, there's plenty of guest stars - Wahlberg, Alba, Favreau, Neeson, Grammer, Busey, Saget, Spade, Hammer, various NFL players - which sometimes add something to the film, but often seem unnecessary and seem to be there purely to make it feel like Hollywood. There's a minor plot for each of the entourage - Vince directing his first film; Drama hoping for a breakout role in that film (& getting embroiled in some online retribution); Turtle trying to get date a girl who happens to be a professional wrestler; and Eric doing pregnancy things with his currently separated wife. Nothing revolutionary plot-wise and - besides Royal Blood at the start, Jane's Addiction at the titles and Tame Impala in the middle - there's some very average music throughout.

Ari is slightly calmer and - even though he still screams and says mean things - he comes off as more charming and less abrasive than before. Great to see Piven & Thornton acting together - arguably to only two 'real' actors/stars in the film! Also, credit to Haley Joel Osment, who plays entitled, ignorant hick superbly. The main issue most people will have with this film is its portrayal of Los Angeles - young/skinny women in bikinis (or not), always a party, always sunny, always a brunch. Possibly true, but it does often feel plastic/forced. However, the film isn't bad - it just feels like three episodes rolled into one, with no real sense of tension or resolution at all. It's just a comfortable ride with familiar faces.

A long TV episode slash music video
HelenMary28 November 2015
The TV show Entourage was fun and pure escapism in sunny LA and Hollyweird. The star of the show, and reason to watch is Jeremy Piven playing Ari Gold, the Agent. He is a powerhouse, angry and full of energy. The language is dreadful, there are more scenes of sex, nudity and drug use. Lots of it. So the film, which is three years after the series finished, and nine days in program time, is a direct follow on. The film has all the fun, laughs and sunshine of the series and runs just like a long episode. The film passes quickly and is really enjoyable; Drama (Kevin Dillon) is still struggling with his career, Vince (the gorgeous Adrian Grenier) getting over lost love, Turtle (Jerry Ferrara) is still in the money making business and E (Kevin Connolly finding his way back to Sloane (stunning Emmanuelle Chriqui). Of course Lloyd makes a return (Rex Lee) and is his irrepressible self. Perrey Reeves, Debi Mazar, Rhys Coiro and Constance Zimmer also returned in their regular characters. It was a star-studded cast full of cameos, Ed O'Neil, Thierry Henry, Liam Neeson, Pharrell Williams, Mike Tyson, Jon Favreau etc. Massive. But the star of the show is and forever will be Jeremy Piven and he deserves every single gong he received for this series and character.

A great addition to the show and fans, but not for stand alone
dimbost6 June 2015
Hey guys, Just watched the movie and as a fan i liked it a lot. It through us back into the world of Vince, Drama, E and Turtle and lets not forget Ari. It gave us another 104 minutes in which we can believe that anything is possible in L.A.... But and you knew this was coming, i have to rate this film on a basis of a film and not a T.V Show fan, and in that aspect there is nothing special in the film. The story, the acting, the cameos and cinematography are all on the level of the show if not below it.

The story, Once again Vince gets dumped and is trying to take his mind of the girl by doing something new, and this time he wants to direct his next project. E is again on the rocks with Sloan, Drama is still a nobody trying to prove that he is more then just Vince's brother and Turtle, well he still drives every one around although he is incredibly rich from the Tequila company. And as thinks look up, here comes the twist that they need more money and Ari is there to save them, while the boys do what they do best, that is not much but try and hook up with girls and party.

Fans of the show will love and it does stay true to the show format, but as a stand alone film it lacks a punch, or a solid and intriguing story with some really good acting. As a fan and a critic i gave it 6/10

VICTORY!!!!!!
dtnmusic22 November 2021
Saw this when it was originally released, just saw it again after rewatching the entire series. It definitely holds up and all things considered, it did a great job staying true to the series while jumping to the big screen. Every actor is exactly as they were a few years earlier, which isn't always the case with these kind of movies. The plot was believable and could have easily been the basis of season 9. Arie and Drama as usual steal all the scenes and when it all ended, I was left wanting more of my entourage.

All the drama, cameos, and Hollywood lifestyle fans have missed!!
aedgett4 June 2015
Mark Wahlberg and HBO have finally come to their senses and brought back all of the "Entourage" boys back in style again!-That includes, Vinny Chase, E Murphy, Johnny "Drama", Turtle, and Ari mother f**king Gold! I'm just a recent fan of the hit show. A couple of months ago I thought I'd start to watch the series so I rented all 8 seasons from my local library and literally right after the first episode, I was uncontrollably hooked! It only took maybe not even barely 2 weeks to watch all 96 episodes in my room every single night disc after disc. Now in their big movie debut, they pick up right after major movie star Vinny Chases failed marriage and he is now ready to direct his own big movie under the studio helm of the hardboiled Ari Gold. This movie has a million things going on, trouble with the budget and the movies co-financiers, Relationships with some that don't know where to take it. Here's the deal, some critics aren't into the movie because some may feel it doesn't have a very tight story nailed down, but to me even after just watching all the seasons, this movie perfectly picks up where the show was hanging. All the actors are without a doubt back in top form perfectly cast as their characters, and all the sub-plots that are going on is just like how it would be like in the series. I'm not saying their wrong, but in all honesty I just think this is only for die hard fans, which I now like to consider myself as.This movie is basically 3-4 episodes in one! That can be often a bad thing with some other TV-movies adaptations. I just couldn't help but feel overwhelmed with the excitement I had watching all these guys act with their camaraderie style of how these guys act with each other! As for people who are not familiar with the series, if you ask me, technically yes this movie can stand on its own but it is a 100 times better with the show in mind going into this because your appreciation comes with and helps make this a great experience! The show back then and also the movie deals with little controversy because these guys, yeah I'll say it, they're basically douche-bags. To me, they're fun douche-bags. I wouldn't be certain if I actually liked these guys in person but like Jeremy Pivens Ari Gold says in the film that there is a certain relationship with these guys that makes it charming in a way. Just the dialogue alone is great with the 4 friends whatever they're doing. For most guys out there who have an "Entourage", this could appeal to you just on the fact of a few buddies strolling around the streets talking and joking with one another. The only thing that might've taken me away from the movie is that some of the cameos were sort of hit or miss. Not total miss that it was a failed attempt but like a cameo wasn't as strong as the last one or as good. All that said, I think "Entourage" is a great start to summer movies! I got just enough laughs throughout and was constantly interested in seeing what was going on in most of the sub-plots, just like how you would feel in the show with each episode. I wish it could've been longer, but as a fan with everyone bringing it to the table what they did, I truly believe they have succeeded by bringing that style and feel back, but now on a big screen, which made everything alone feel much more cool.

Quite...empty
grantss30 March 2016
Quite...empty.

An extension of the TV series. Ari Gold (Jeremy Piven) is head of a film studio. Star actor Vincent Chase (Adrian Grenier) is happy to sign up for Ari's first film project...as long as he directs too. The project is a massive one and the studio resorts to getting financial backing from a wealthy Texas businessman. Unfortunately, this means the businessman's son gets to have a say in the final cut of the movie...

Maybe you need to be a fan of the TV series (and I wasn't, but I didn't mind it) but I found this superficial and pointless. Central plot is quite basic. Sub-plots are even worse. Not engaging as a drama, not funny as a comedy.

About the only bright spots are provided by actual stars appearing as themselves. Gives a feel of Hollywood-behind-the-scenes, and the stars are often quite happy to parody themselves.

Not worth watching, not even to see what all the fuss was about.

ctowyi5 June 2015
The boys are back. Did 4 years passed by just like this (snap)? 4 is but a number. I love the guys through all 8 seasons of HBO's Entourage (2004-11). Laughing at their rambunctious antics every week, I feel like I was living the ultimate Hollywood wet dream fantasy vicariously through these 4 buffoons. Yes, they are buffoons. No doubt about it. It is just that one buffoon is handsome but dim, another is directionless but has a heart of gold, another is a Lothario without suffering any consequences (well, not earth-shattering ones like contracting AIDS) and a final one who is still everybody's favorite loser whom we are always willing for him to succeed. Through them we get an inside satirical look at the Hollywood system, its salacious activities and well-known actors playing themselves sprouting F-bombs. It is never meant to be serious and what the TV series was is a whole lot of extreme and harmless fun. Did it warrant an upgrade to a wide-screen feature film? Can the exploits be bigger? Sadly, no. This literally feels like a typical 20-minute TV episode plot-line squeezed into a runtime of 1h 44min.

When the series ended, Vince (Adrian Grenier) was headed to Paris to marry a woman he had just met. Ari (Jeremy Piven) quit his job as a successful agent and was moving to Florence with Mrs. Ari (Perrey Reeves). Eric (Kevin Connolly) and his on again off again girlfriend Sloan (Emmanuelle Chriqui) boarded a plane to New York, since Sloan was moving there because she was pregnant with Eric's baby. Turtle (Jerry Ferrara) was riding high on the success of his vodka company. And Drama (Kevin Dillon) was still waiting for his big break. In this outing Vincent Chase, together with his boys are back in business with Ari Gold on a risky project that will serve as Vince's directorial debut. It will be a venture that may either shoot them into the stratosphere or sink them into oblivion.

Doug Ellin's idea of an Entourage film is one word - "excess". His version of upping the ante means more f-bombs, more T&A, more gratuitous sex, more cameos (I lost count of how many after Liam Neeson flips the bird). The storyline feels like the usual "problem of the week" the four chaps tackled week in week out. Nothing in the movie suggests an upgrade from a TV episode. There are no great character arc changes to all them by the end. Everyone of them moves in a familiar pace to a familiar end, as in every storyline in all the 8 seasons.

I may sound like I didn't enjoy the movie and it can't be more wrong. Doug Ellin knows the rabid fan base and understands this is no prize winning film. He serves up a 104-minute TV episode that reminds us fans of what we have been missing for 4 years - the infectious chemistry of the foursome and a narcissistic Ari Gold who rants fiery insults like a machine-gun. IMHO you will only enjoy this if you are a fan but seriously what do I know. I showed my wife only one episode, S01E01 and after that she said she gets it. Last night I am sure she had the loudest and most uproarious laughter every time Drama opens his goatee-d trap and spews his worldly crap. I love her! And Drama!

Entourage by Numbers
stanage6 August 2015
I was a big fan of the original TV series, although it did go downhill towards the end.

In essence this feels like the producers are trying to squeeze the last bit of revenue from the franchise before it dies. Without the goodwill from the TV series this film would have gone straight to video and I doubt I would even be reviewing it.

They have included themes from most Entourage episodes and mashed them into a single thin story. Pointless cameos (Warren Buffet - really?), gratuitous sex and liberal use of bad language add to the impression that the producers have run out of ideas.

Unimaginative, tired and contrived.
