Bit of a so-so episode. The storyline with Leah, Elijah and his parents continues to drag on.There's some amusing moments from Leah, Elijah and even VJ but Lijuan is still a bit one-note and annoying yet we're apparently required to sympathise with her.Elijah also comes across as rather clueless which doesn't help.Song is wasted, being reduced to a virtual extra.
The plot line about Alf trying to find someone to run the bait shop and Marilyn at a loose end is slightly better, partly because of the involvement of the always watchable Miles and partly because after a poor start it seems someone has finally remembered what their relationship should be like and included some mild friction.Alf's reaction to Marilyn's plans to take over the town are pitch perfect.
Surprisingly, the best part of the episode is Xavier trying to impress a girl, perhaps because this is a side to him we haven't seen before. The little chat between Tony, Rachel and Leah about his sudden good mood and his increasingly desperate attempts to work out what to say to her are both among the episode's plus points.
