Good as a movie if you don't mind fictionalized biopics

This was surprisingly good! I've been watching Dax Flame on YouTube since his early days, almost 15 years ago, and he's always been entertaining. But this production is absolutely on another level. Dax's portrayal of Chad Hurley is certainly awkward. I've never met or seen much video of Hurley, so I can't say if it's accurate. Intentional or not, it works. All the other acting, as well as the production values, editing, etc. Is top notch. The only negative criticism I have, is that the real-life history is almost entirely fictionalized. Pretty sure almost none of this really happened, at least not this way. But if you're willing to let that slide, it's a pretty good movie anyhow.

This movie is one of the best indie films I've ever seen!

I think they really managed to do a lot on a small budget!

The acting makes the characters really feel real unlike even some large box office movies. I hope to see more great stuff like this from Dax in the future!

Whether parody or poor imitation.. it wasn't great.

Warning: Spoilers
I spent most of this film going back and forth trying to determine if it was satire or a sub-standard facsimile of The Social Network.

For example:

The first point at which I suspected satire was at play was during their tenure at PayPal. Chad gives this big speech on his design symbolized what he believed PayPal could be and how important it was and what it stood for; but we saw the design and... it was just PayPal in bubble letters? Near the end of the film, Jawed apologizes for manipulating Chad and Steve and says that the two of them are now 50/50 partners. After the sale, the end text tells us Chad's shares were worth around $350M. Then it says Steve and Jawed both received a little over $100M each. How does this make sense if Steve and Chad are equal partners? So I took to Google to find an answer. The figure for Chad is accurate, Steve received the exact same amount as Chad, and Jawed got around $70M. So then I start wondering, "Okay well if it's contradicting itself, they must know. Maybe it's parodying inaccuracies in big Hollywood biopics that just streamline a story and then bloat it back out with nonsense and rumors." But then that doesn't explain why they fail to establish Chad's contributions to YouTube other than "the name and concept." Chad actually had a pretty vital role in the tagging and video sharing aspects of YouTube and was the one who realized Adobe Flash was the solution to their storage issues. There is more to a website than an algorithm and a name. It certainly doesn't explain the sound balancing and EQ issues that plagued this piece. I had to keep my remote in my hand to adjust the volume with, what felt like, nearly every line

I thought Dax Flame's performance was pretty good. I think he took some artistic liberties to make Chad more interesting which is totally fair because Chad is the most boring and flat person to watch speak in real life. Unfortunately, this was the only performance here that felt fully developed.

Overall not a bad film by any means, but it felt like an early draft of a potentially great film.

Seeing other reviews i actually didn't know dax flame was such a beloved actor/figure. I think i remember him being somewhat of a prominent figure on youtube growing up but wasn't watching any of his original videos. I actually just stumbled upon this without knowing it was a dax flame film/vision.

I was just curious on youtube one night and stumbled upon this watch i was originally trying to find something to put on to go to sleep but was quickly wrapped up from the get go! The opening alone had me paying more attention than i had planned and it was so well done especially for an indie film. The story had me up all night before too long. And after completing this film i ended up becoming more interested in who dax flame is and was completely fascinated. Since first viewing i've rewatched 3 more times with a newfound respect for dax and his crew and i honestly liked it even more the more i watch it. I'm so happy he was able to make this film with the time and budget he had.

After watching him on his youtube i found out how much this movie meant to him and you can see his passion in his work. It's egregious to suggest it's the greatest movie i've ever seen but i am very comfortable giving this an honest 10 out of 10. Well done to all involved!
