I had not heard of this series till I saw it on Funimation's YouTube channel but as it is only twelve episodes long I decided to give it a go. The protagonists were effectively introduced but the first few episodes didn't really pull me in; I'm glad that I persevered though as the characters became more interesting and the plot developed nicely.
The series is set in the Otogi Academy where a club known as the Otogi Bank help people with various favours on condition that they will repay them one day. In the opening episode Ryōko Ōkami chases a thug down an alley and when he pulls knife on her Ryōshi uses his catapult to knock it out of his hand with a stone; being painfully shy he remains in the shadows and she doesn't realise what happened as she proceeds to overpower the thug. Soon Ryōshi finds himself recruited into the bank were is stealthiness and skill with a catapult are put to good use. Over the course of the series they help people with various favours but also come into conflict with the rival Onigashima High School, these conflicts are quite serious and provide the best episodes of the series. Ryōshi has a crush on Ryōko but has difficulty telling her and she clearly has feelings for him but does not want to admit it; not even to herself... her friend Ringo is determined to get them together though!
At only twelve episodes the story doesn't overstay its welcome but equally it felt that it ended just as it was getting into its stride. The characters were fairly standard anime characters but were likable none the less and it didn't descend into excessive fanservice like many series do; although that is not to say there isn't any... just about every scene featuring Momoko features a close up of her bouncing breasts! There are plenty of good action scenes where Ryōshi shows his skills with a catapult and Ryōko knocks out various thugs with her unusual boxing gloves. Overall this is a reasonable series that I'd recommend people check out; at least as long as it can be legally watched on line, I wouldn't rush to buy it though unless it was in the bargain bin.
