A bank for favours
Tweekums18 December 2010
Warning: Spoilers
I had not heard of this series till I saw it on Funimation's YouTube channel but as it is only twelve episodes long I decided to give it a go. The protagonists were effectively introduced but the first few episodes didn't really pull me in; I'm glad that I persevered though as the characters became more interesting and the plot developed nicely.

The series is set in the Otogi Academy where a club known as the Otogi Bank help people with various favours on condition that they will repay them one day. In the opening episode Ryōko Ōkami chases a thug down an alley and when he pulls knife on her Ryōshi uses his catapult to knock it out of his hand with a stone; being painfully shy he remains in the shadows and she doesn't realise what happened as she proceeds to overpower the thug. Soon Ryōshi finds himself recruited into the bank were is stealthiness and skill with a catapult are put to good use. Over the course of the series they help people with various favours but also come into conflict with the rival Onigashima High School, these conflicts are quite serious and provide the best episodes of the series. Ryōshi has a crush on Ryōko but has difficulty telling her and she clearly has feelings for him but does not want to admit it; not even to herself... her friend Ringo is determined to get them together though!

At only twelve episodes the story doesn't overstay its welcome but equally it felt that it ended just as it was getting into its stride. The characters were fairly standard anime characters but were likable none the less and it didn't descend into excessive fanservice like many series do; although that is not to say there isn't any... just about every scene featuring Momoko features a close up of her bouncing breasts! There are plenty of good action scenes where Ryōshi shows his skills with a catapult and Ryōko knocks out various thugs with her unusual boxing gloves. Overall this is a reasonable series that I'd recommend people check out; at least as long as it can be legally watched on line, I wouldn't rush to buy it though unless it was in the bargain bin.

These comments are based on watching the series in Japanese with English subtitles.

You don't mess with Ryoko!
Irishchatter29 April 2018
Warning: Spoilers
She really in my opinon, is one of the best anime characters out there. She has such epic bad guy kicking skills that anyone would die to have. Like seriously, she just is such an amazing character and doesn't hold anything against her. Man she is a tough survivor! It was very unfortunate enough that she was raped by someone she thought she loved and it's really hard to cope with something tragic as that. I can understand why she felt really irritated by Ryoshi who always confesses his love to her and the fact he was stalking her freaked her out. I'd be definately like that too!

I thought Ryoshi was really a bit of a wuss character on this. Although he is sweet, he really is too much of a crybaby and a handful. I really wish they made his character more confident towards the end and wear bad ass assassin clothes instead of wearing his school shirt. I know I sound like a fashionista but add more clothing variety on the guy for goodness sake! I also wished that himself and Ryoko kissed towards the end like they did really loved each other like why no kiss here?

Anyways besides the annoying narrator always talking over the characters and Ryoshis needy personality, I thought this anime was great to watch and of course seeing Ryoko as a badass le gend! I'm giving this a 8/10!

A refreshing romance series
samuelparnell15 February 2013
I too have seen a lot of anime, since from the age of 10 and this series is by far one of the best i have seen for a while. As this is from the same people who created 'zero no tsukaima' (The Familiar zero) i am not surprised how good the divide is between the romance/ action and the plot, story, character development are steadily unfolded to us, as we progress through the series. But i was disappointed, as it was quite short, but that can only be a good thing, as i would like to think that they are working on the 2nd series.

The anime had moments of resemblance to other romance/action comedies, such as: The familiar zero, full metal panic and full metal alchemist. Every time i watched an episode, i wanted to learn more about ryoko mostly but also all the other characters too, especially ryoshi. I think a lot can be added to this anime, such as character and personality traits may change as the story develops, like ryoshi overcoming his weakness and fear, maybe he goes to train by himself like ryoko, he feels that he's a failure, which makes him do this. I just really want to see more, i watched the whole series in an evening and i couldn't stop myself from now watching it.

The anime is quirky, stylish and has a lot of good uses of humour and action, action looks cool in particular, almost like full metal alchemist or cowboy bebop. I hope more series are to be made, as i think so much can be done to the story and to the characters, i just hope they don't leave it un-answered and un-finished. I have seen many which have done this and you just leave disappointed, as many animes have so much potential.

So yeah overall, a awesome, cool new romance/action anime , which i would recommend everyone to see. I rarely comment on anime series, but i liked this so much that i thought i would, so that people will see it and spread the word, and hoping that the series will continue :)

It's good, not boring and a lot of action
ada_stampede7 November 2010
Warning: Spoilers
I've read a lot of critics from, anime lovers, but i can say that I've seen more than 100 comedy, romance, fantasy, parody, high school life animes and that this is one of the best. Even though it's just an opinion, I believe it's one of the best of it's kind. Many may say that it is similar to other animes, or that Okami isn't quite the tsundere they would have hoped. It's because the story it's about the girl behind the tsundere. It has plenty of action, it's very funny despite of some clichés. I know I have laughed a LOT. 6th episode it too filled with scenes from the memories of Okami and Ringo, but the rest is the best. I believe I know what i'm talking about. I really hope there will be a second season. I would gladly help.
