Best episode so far
carolinakanter8 April 2022
Finally an episode where I could keep my eyes open from the beginning to the end. Allie is back and that made Nathan becoming more of himself again.

What is nagging me is that for me Erin Krakow and Kevin McGarry bring out the best in each other when it comes to acting. The scene where Sargeant bowes and Nathan asks Elizabeth where he learned it was in all its simplicity so powerful. And while I don't mind Lucas and Elizabeth being together I just don't see this level of acting between those two. Elizabeth seems to turn into a different person with Lucas and it is not for the best. We have seen a few potential conflicts and all of them did not last longer than a minute because Lucas charmed his way out of it and she let go and hey, let's start kissing him! Sorry, but that is not the basis for a healthy relationship. It's time his past issue comes up to give that relationship a bit more depth and show it more as a real relationship of people in their 30s instead af two people in their 30s acting like teenagers (oops...)

For now I keep on watching as I see the Nathan story line progressing a bit and Allie is back which always is fun.

Love won
So many lessons in the episode, but love was at the head of them all. Love changed so many hearts. Really great episode. Love helped a couple who thought love was gone. Love helped a father and daughter understand each other better. Love helped hateful hearts change. Love helped untrusted hearts to trust and last but not least, and a couple in love made a promise to always love each other, and to never leave each. Beautiful episode.

Wonderful episode
Hopeful267 April 2022
This episode was a delight to watch. Each character had a good storyline. My favorites were Lucas and Elizabeth as in my opinion they are the BEST part of the show. For those saying Nathan and Allie are the best (and the practically only good part) remember that is an opinion not fact as you make it out to be. Clearly some people on here believe that everyone feels the way they do about Lucas and Elizabeth having no chemistry and that Nathan and Elizabeth's was so much better. And that because of this they should have been together and so criticize the show. They also think of Elizabeth as dense for picking Lucas over Nathan as they believe him to be the better guy. Just know not everyone feels the same way as there are plenty of people that believe Elizabeth and Lucas do and think Nathan and Elizabeth do not have any chemistry. They also think of Lucas as the better guy and the one who was a much better match for Elizabeth. Also for those still going on about the historical accuracy of Elizabeth and Lucas being together this show has never tried to be historically accurate from the beginning so that argument makes no sense.

Best episode of S9 so far!
janettemsu7 April 2022
The powerful scene with the Canfield family working to build bridges with Mr. Landis will forever stay with me. Beautiful performances by all.

The romance was just lovely this episode. Beautifully written and performed. Can't wait to see where the rest of the season goes!

It was okay

Warning: Spoilers
Nathan and Allie and the Canfields were really the only good part of the episode. The other storylines were just filler. We got to see a little bit of the old WCTH. Back when everyone was kind.

So Much Love!!!
margie-963-3576019 April 2022
When Calls the Heart gets better with each and every episode. #Hearties are so excited to see what will happen next!! The love story between Lucas and Elizabeth is progressing with Lucas spending more time with Jack...and getting closer to saying those 3 little words we all want to hear!! Lee and Rosemary are busy with the newspaper and the happenings in Hope Valley. What in the world is going on with the sale of the oil company? What is Walden really up to? Flo & Ned are so cute together as they are busy running two businesses. Nathan seems to be very interested in Mei Sou. And so sweet the scene with Nathan & Allie and her first calling him Dad. This is hands down the best show on TV today!!!

Still a boring show, slight improvement
margaretyong-9454110 April 2022
S9e5 was a bit better when we had Nathan and Allie back from Rock Creek and their dynamics is still so good, she called Nathan "DAD' after a long time and it is very heartwarming. Other than that it was boring e.g more of fish kisses s. The storyline is so flat and it is amazing E has to ask L for kisses and that race - was it necessary, could have spend more time on backstories.

Great Scene with Nathan and Allie
famyarn9 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Well the Mountie saved the episode again. He and Allie are adorable and the absolute best part of this show.

And when Nathan shaves, I'm pretty sure it was right then and there that Mei realized just how undiscerning the teacher truly is.

Could have done without the scene with Elizabeth and Lucas at home. Total brother and sister vibes. And that pillow fight? Why does she talk in that voice with him? Like she's 5 years old? Funny how they try to drop lines like they know anything about each other, though we've still yet to see any conversation with depth onscreen. They would have been better off to delete this scene to make room for some of the more robust scenes because there was a lot going on this episode. Too much, in fact.

Maybe they could have shortened last week's episode when the casino owner was with the little boy. I still can't believe his mother allowed her son to stay with a guy who was paying out someone's gambling just before. Not to mention that he lied to her about the black eye, and she seems to know it but doesn't care.

But the Canfields were wonderful and I just loved this story about changing someone's mind. The scene with the duet with Angela at the piano gave me old wcth vibes, just lovely. I love those old redemption feels.

The race was cute and loved when the horse bowed. And it was wonderful that they acknowledged Jack. How much more depth there is between the Mountie and the teacher. I still don't understand why she is with the other guy.

And Rosemary and Lee. Their little "fight" was so unrealistic for them, and completely out of character, but it was wonderful what he did for her. The chairs and the poem. Don't know how she ever thought he could have been cheating on her, that was a ridiculous suspicion, and didn't fit at all with what we know about Lee and Rosemary (the writing here seemed cheap and thrown together - the tiring of one another worked and was conceivable, but the thought that Lee would ever cheat on her in such a small town was ridiculous). But I loved Lee's gesture and the poem, and how they sat together at the end. Also have me old wcth vibes.

Again some of the E and L scenes could have been left out to make room for some of these other wonderful scenes, to round them out a little more, add a little more depth. I would have loved to see the actual dinner with Mr Landis and the Canfields, or the conversation between Lucas and Nathan that prompted the race, or more about Fiona and where she was. There was just a lot going on in one episode. And last week was so boring, maybe they could have spread it out a little ( put some of this one last week) to allow for more depth in certain places.

WCTH S9 E 5
annie_c-114279 April 2022
Each episode is better than the last. The stand out storylines and performances (for me) this episode are:- Lucas and Elizabeth, the Canfields and Mr. Landis, Lee and Rosemary.

Just goes to show what good writers, cast and crew who work on the show. Believable performances by the actors. From the behind the scene photos it is plain to see that they all get along and enjoy each other's company off screen. I think this comes across on screen.

Best episode/A must see
lindysue-015069 April 2022
I've watched this episode so many times...it's that good! Every main character has a pivotal scene...a scene that not only was very fulfilling for the storyline, but left the viewer with something to ponder in real life as well. That's the beauty of WCTH and there is no other show on television to match. Don't hesitate to watch. You'll smile throughout and your favorite characters like Elizabeth and Lucas, Lee and Rosemary, Nathan and Allie, and the Canfields have major scenes with other surprise snippets throughout! Beautifully written! Bravo!

Have to be honest
Arnie-1300720 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This was better than previous weeks. But as long as the gambler is with the teacher, I can't give more than a 1. It's not a good storyline and not historically accurate. He can't cash out someone's chips in his casino one episode and then babysit a little boy the next. In 1919 this would have never been allowed, for a teacher. She would have been fired.

The Mountie on the swing with his daughter was wonderful. And yes, please shave. And when she called him Dad, all the feels.

Loved the Canfields with the guy from the school board. This was a good storyline and made me miss the old wcth. Just wish they would have gone deeper here. They only scratched the surface. I wanted to see the dinner and some wisdom from Joseph, the pastor. Surely there could have been more.

The whole episode could have been about them, and then the scene with Nathan and Allie, and I would have given it a 10.

Sad the storyline for Lee and Rosemary. This should have been longer and given more depth as well. And, no one believes that he would ever cheat on her. There should have been another reason for their tension. I know that you wanted to get to the chair and the poem, and we loved that part. But the cheating thing was sloppy, maybe should have just stick to the getting tired of each other, or the previous idea that they were spending too much time together. That we could have believed.

Still don't like E and L. No chemistry and no depth. Please stop trying so hard. They are not palatable any way you serve it up. In their case: less kissing is more. Because we still cringe every single time.

Parents Beware
Sar-835999 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The best part of the episode was the shaving. I mean I guess they finally get who brings in the viewers. Too bad it's too little too late.

And the Canfields, wow, they were good. Minnie is great and handled Mr Landis so well. Wish we could have seen more of the dinner.

The race was funny, and loved Sargent's bow. So cool. And the nod to Jack. Finally someone mentions him. Just sad E mentions him with Nathan but never talks about him with her supposed boyfriend. Why does all her depth come with Nathan but she tries to act all lusty with Lucas? BTW, this show is not family friendly.

Another excellent episode!
jay7-97-9966909 April 2022
Each episode is wonderful! I am thoroughly enjoying season nine. The cast and crew have done a fantastic job in continuing the story of all of the characters of When Calls the Heart! It's a beautiful story for each of the lovely people who reside in Hope Valley. And the new characters being brought in are adding so much flavor to the storyline that it just makes my heart so happy! This is a job well done by the writers and the cast and everyone that makes this show what it is. Thank you everyone! You are loved!

Elizabeth + Lucas + Little Jack = Family
ksmith-315519 April 2022
The lead characters, Elizabeth and Lucas, happily in love is the most beautiful love story out there today. Their passion and chemistry are off the charts. Little Jack is adorable. The supporting actors also have great storylines. I cannot wait to return to Hope Valley every Sunday to see all the wonderful people in this beautiful place. The writing, directing, and acting are the best in television today. I love "When Calls the Heart" to the moon and back.

I keep hoping it gets better
sroark-441708 April 2022
I keep hoping it gets better, but just like season 8 it doesn't. It only gets worse. The only bright spot in this episode was Nathan and his daughter Allie (she called him dad, SWEET) and the Canfields. The angst between Rosemary and Lee is not good and not well written. (They have become the leading couple, but are not having good lines, put Lee back to his own business please). Elizabeth and Lucas have no depth, no deep conversations, and Lucas has yet to tell her he loves her. ( I mean how can you love someone that you when you don't have deep conversations with?) I mean these two are such a boring couple, it can't just be about kissy kisses. The kids have very little line and if you ask me, they are the heart of the show. I want to see the heart of the show back, it's lost it's way since season 8. If this show doesn't get better, the next episode will probably be my last.

The best this season - finally!
debbiech7 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
There were several moments when this felt just like the heartwarming show I fell in love with! There were sweet scenes, and moments. Well written! I hope this is the start of a trend for the rest of the season! When Minnie invited that school guy to dinner - loved it! Happy to see Fiona back. The scene where Allie called Nathan dad - was perfectly written. I was in tears. Still not seeing chemistry between Elizabeth and Lucas - feels forced. The race was stupid. And I don't like Lee and Rosemary's arc. Seriously - they deserve better. Just hoping they can clean up those stories and it will be must see tv for me again.

I thought that this episode was the most romantic episode of the beautifully unfolding love story between Elizabeth and Lucas. The couples pre-exchange of wedding vows melted my heart!

Just when I thought the show couldn't get any better, it just did!!

Keeps getting better
debraleible9 April 2022
Elizabeth and Lucas are moving slowly which is the way things were done in 1919. Fiona is involved over her head and it will be interesting to see what happens. Allie is smitten with an "older guy" so some fun is coming there. Lots of story lines open! Can't wait to see what happens next.

Best Season Yet
jputnam-891679 April 2022
Season 9 of When Calls the Heart has been the best of all the seasons. Episode 5 was a standout and it keeps getting better each week. It has drama, romance, humor and most importantly it has valuable life lessons. Despite being up against basketball playoffs, Oscar's and the Grammys it haspulled off phenomenal ratings. Congratulations to the producers, writers and especially the very talented actors for gifting us this wonderful show every week. Thank you.

So much going on!!

Warning: Spoilers
This episode has so many heart warming moments! The complete torn around of Landis to a character I can actually like, thanks to Minnie and Angela was brilliantly written!! Nathan and Allie bonding and her calling him Dad. Lucas and Elizabeth drawing closer (I'm sorry, I know some complain that the pillow fight was childish but my husband and I are in our 40s and we still hit each other with pillows so I could relate)

The last few minutes of the show were so touching! It just keeps getting better and better and I want to thank everyone who brings us such a wonderful, wholesome show!

This Show Gets with Better Each Episode this Season.
terryh749 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Just when you think this Show has given you its best episode for this Season, we get this one.

The heartfelt screen with Nathan and Allie were she calls him Dad for the first time has long been waited for and it did not disappoint. The way Minnie was able find a way to reach the school superintendent when no one else could added so much heart to the episode. We're getting to see what Minnie is really like and it's wonderful loved her in this episode.

The race was so funny with the motorcycle vrs horse. Just have a wonderful nod to the changing times. And the horse bowing the way the beloved Jack taught him was such a nice way to remember a beloved character.

And most of all I enjoyed getting to see some playful moments between Lucas and Elizabeth after all the stress of last season. Their conversation show they are getting to know each other's so we'll and that they've had many of them that though we didn't get to see them all, it's helped Rlizabeth learn so many things about Lucas. I liked the way Elizabeth while happy for Nathan winning the race her first thoughts were of Lucas. Then we got a much deeper look into their characters and just how strong it is getting with the almost vow like conversation at the end. Each proclaiming they would want to spend as much time as possible with each other and would barely be able to leave each other was such an impressive way to show how deeply they care for one another.

Such an outstanding episode.
