Compared to A Viagem (1994) due to its spiritualist and Karcedist themes. Creator Elizabeth Jhin acknowledged this, but emphasized that she intended to add genetics as theme to her story. In 2024, Globo TV channel's Viva jokingly promoted a rerun comparing Danieol with Alexandre from that series.
Released in the same year as three other productions concerning Spiritism/Kardecism: Miracle Hands (2010), Astral City: A Spiritual Journey (2010) and Chico Xavier (2010).
Nathalia Dill was handpicked by creator Elizabeth Jhin to star this series. It is Dill's second lead role in a row, after Paradise City (2009).
Producers wanted a more "magical" depiction of Heaven, referencing the TV work of Luiz Fernando Carvalho.
