I just watched Nest (2022) and I found it to be a very sweet short film, especially watching it in square screen format suits the film much better.

I liked the most cinematographically, the place where it was shot and the natural scenery during the construction stages of the house were great. Especially the fact that they put a scene in every detail of each climate made me like it much more because nowadays we have forgotten the climate details quite a bit thanks to global warming.

What I found missing was the dialogues, I think the dialogues were few, I couldn't connect with the character emotionally. If there were a scene or two with plenty of dialogue, I would have liked it a bit more, but I couldn't catch it emotionally.

It is a climatic transition film where the communication of 2 brothers and 1 sister is sweet, but it has shortcomings, it could be much better if it contains a little more, but it is definitely visually very enjoyable, it is watchable.

I understand why people love this, but it isn't for me.

Nest (2022) follows two siblings as they build and have fun in their tree house over the course of a year. This is a cute little short, but there really isn't anything to it and no meaning came across for me personally. I also wasn't all that entertained.

The film has some good cinematography and a really pretty setting to go alongside it, but I do wish it was more imaginative with its shots. I like how it's shot, and there are some nice colour palettes, specifically the sunsets which look beautiful and are very picturesque. However, some shots do linger for a bit too long and personally lost my interest.

The sound design is all very natural and there's no score or music used to talk about. At first this felt a bit awkward, but I did grow to like the natural sounds as the invoke a feeling of peace and stillness which I appreciate.

It is sweet to see the relationships between the siblings and there wholesome interactions, but unfortunately this isn't enough to carry an emotional weight. The dialogue is cute, but nothing special.

My main issue with this short is that I don't find it entertaining or engaging in any way. There just isn't enough that keeps me watching. It feels a little like a home movie that you'd show your family.
