- Harry and Asta's trip is interrupted by an uninvited relative as the town celebrates family.

Mike and another police officer, Jesse, are chasing a man. A shot rings out and Jesse is killed as Mike hangs back and calls for backup.
Later, a fellow officer brings Mike Jesse's dog, Cletus, and tells Mike to take care of himself.
The Present
Harry sits on a mountain and contemplates the fact that one of his people is in NYC. He considers how relatively close he is to someone who knows the alien part of him, the real him, and wonders why he can't dial the phone number.
Later, Asta is sleeping on the couch at Jimmy's place. As she wakes up, Jimmy comes in and says that he wonders why she came there. Asta says that she shouldn't have come there and goes.
At the station, Liv tells Mike that it was nice seeing him at the restaurant the previous night. Mike avoids her attempt to talk, but Liv persists and says that if there's something he wants to talk about, he can talk to her. Mike thanks her, and asks what she's been writing down in her notebook. Liv says that the whole day she took the dress in is a blank, and then points out a girl across the street stealing a bike. Mike runs out after the girl and chases her down the street.
Asta goes to the clinic and asks Ellen to cover for her. Once she leaves, Ellen reveals that D'Arcy is in for medical treatment because she ran into a tree, and Ellen tells her to drink less. However, she tells D'Arcy to invite her out the next time.
Asta meets with Harry at the cabin, who tells her about the phone number. He says that he hasn't called the number because he thinks it might be a trap, and 49 says that Harry isn't calling because he's afraid his people will reject him. Asta tells Harry that if he doesn't call the number, she will. Harry calls the number and asks to talk to the alien. The man at the other end hangs up, and Asta confirms the phone number belongs to a pizzeria in NYC, and tells Harry that they're going there. Harry worries that he's become too human. His cell phone rings and it's Mike.
Later at the station, Harry and Asta arrive and find Mike with the girl who took the bike. She calls Harry "dad", and he backs away into the elevator he came up in. Asta drags Harry back in, and he figures that the girl, Liza, looks like him. She has a photo of her and the human Harry, and Asta plays along and has Liv confirms what Liza's name is. Mike says that Liza has a record for shoplifting, her mother sent her to a home for troubled teens, and Liza ran away. The officer says that he's okay with releasing Liza into Harry's custody. Harry tells Mike to throw Liza in jail, but Asta claims that Harry is joking and says that Harry will take Liza home.
The couple take Liza to the diner, and Liza confirms that her mother is in Italy getting fingered on a Vespa. Liza wonders why Harry is acting weird, and asks if he's high. Asta says that Harry is, and Harry tells the girl to go home to her mother. Liza says that Harry usually pretends for a few days before telling her to leave, tells him to have a nice life, and leaves. Asa tells Harry that he can't just let Liza leave, and they have to stay there until they get Liza home because Harry killed her father. When Liza continue insulting her, Asta snaps back and then glares at Harry. Liza talks with her and says that he mother didn't want to go to Italy, and was just looking for a way to ship Liza off. The girl figures that there's something about Harry, and Asta tells Liza that Harry is a different man and Liza should give him a chance.
Liza is out talking to a biker, and Asta tells the biker that Liza is 16 and he should leave. Once he does, Liza figures that Asta is Harry's newest "sex toy". Asta insists that they just work together, and says that her mother left her when she was a baby so she knows a few things about being abandoned.
Liv goes to the cemetery and "talks" to the tombstone of her Aunt Cathy, who was the only person Liv ever told about the UFO she saw as a kid. Ben comes up with a father-son trip with Max to the cemetery. Max is impressed by the mass grave to the 59, and Ben says that he's trying to remind people that the 59 are heroes as well as dead men. Liv talks to Max privately and asks Max about the sketch he made of the alien, and Max insists that aliens aren't real.
Harry and Asta take Liza to the cabin, and she immediately goes up to the loft. Harry says that he doesn't like children, and Asta tells him that he should keep Liza alive and happy until her mother comes to get her. Once she leaves, Harry figures he can be a good father because he's seen a lot of television. He starts by telling Liza to take a shower.
In Patience, D'Arcy takes Jimmy's parking spot. He gets out of his truck and confronts her, and she points out that he beat her in the past when they were dating. He boasts that Asta stayed at his house and drives off.
That night at the diner, Mike sits down with Lewis. Lewis says that his biopsy came back. When Mike doesn't remember driving Lewis to have his biopsy, Lewis tells him that his son hasn't been normal since DC, and he should see a psychiatrist. Mike isn't interested in talking about it, and complains that all he and Lewis do is argue.
Harry is at home cooking pasta, and Liza points out that she can't eat gluten. When she threatens to lie, Harry tells her that he's sending her to bed without supper, and Liza is glad to go.
Liv is laying out on a blanket, looking at the stars and listening to a tape of a person talking about UFOs. Mike calls her on the radio and asks where she is, and she claims that she's getting supplies at the grocery. He tells her to get lottery tickets for him and Cletus.
D'Arcy goes to the clinic and confronts Asta about sending the night at Jimmy's. She asks how Asta can get within 10' of Jimmy without ripping his face off, and Asta closes the door and says that delivering her cousin's baby messed with her head. D'Arcy says that she doesn't like watching her best friend ruin her life, and Asta says that she knows all about how D'Arcy is ruining her life. When D'Arcy says that Asta got judgmental with her when she started helping Jay, Asta questions whether D'Arcy is helping Jay, D'Arcy says that Jay needs someone to talk to, and when Asta says that D'Arcy isn't the best person to be giving advice about men, D'Arcy storms out.
Max gets ice cream with Sahar, and Sahar discovers that Harry abducted her neighbor's dog Murphy and left a note saying he wants his alien ball back in return for the dog. Max figures they've "won", but Sahar says the dog is her responsibility and they have to get her back.
At the cabin, Harry puts a bow on Murphy and give him as a present to Liza. She isn't interested, and when Harry puts the dog down it urinates on him. He pains his toenails with the dog, and keeps trying to get Liza interested in being with him. It doesn't work.
Ben and Kate go to the town Family Day, and Ben sees Abigail there and wonders why a murderer is there, as she does face painting.
Harry takes Liza to the Family Day, and he lets her drive if she agrees to stop complaining. She trades places, and Harry isn't happy as she drives down the highway. She barely stops at a stop sign, and Harry tells her to switch places. Liza says that she was finally having fun, and Harry is ruining it, gets out, and walks away.
Max and Sahar go to the camper, and realize that someone has been there. They go in and discover the ball is gone, and Sahar figures she knows who did.
David is at a cabin with the satellite dish, and working on his laptop next to the ball. He spills his coffee and it forms a puddle in mid-air over the ball. David stares at it in wonder.
Harry gets to Family Day, and talks to Asta and says that Liza ran away. Liza his Harry with a water balloon, and he gets into a water balloon fight with her. Ben finally asks them to stop, saying they have a limited number of balloons. Father and daughter team up to throw water balloons at Ben, much to everyone else's amusement. Asta talks to Abigail and says that she knows she didn't kill Sam, much to Abigail's relief.
Harry and Liz a sit down and eat, and Liza tells Harry that he's changed. She admits that she's changed in three years, and she was hoping they're being family was enough... because if it wasn't, she would have to go back to the camp. Harry has her call the camp, and Liza does. When the person at the other end picks up, Harry says that his daughter isn't coming back to the "stupid camp". Liza is amused, and asks Harry to win her a prize. Harry agrees to win himself a prize and consider giving it to her. As they go over, Liza puts her arm around Harry.
D'Arcy prepares for the pepper-eating contest as Jay looks on. She tells D'Arcy that she's not an adult, much to D'Arcy's shock. Asta watches them, and then goes up to join D'Arcy at the table. D'Arcy worries that Asta is going to die, and the contestants start eating. Judy is one of the contestants, and quickly bows out after one bite. Meanwhile, Mike talks to Harry privately. Liv notices the alien doll that Harry won for Liza, while Mike tells Harry that he doesn't remember anything about the day he took Lewis to the biopsy. He's worked out that Liv has gaps in her memory for the same day, and he wants Harry to check them out. Harry figures that his mind-wiping is responsible, and if Mike investigates it then he'll remember that Harry is a murderer. Harry agrees to do what he can, and Mike says that he lost a friend a few years back and hasn't had a good day since. He worries about forgetting the time he has with Lewis. Harry has Mike sit down and puts a memory in Mike's head.
D'Arcy asks Asta why she's doing it, and Asta insists that she's fine... even though she's not. Dan is watching, and figures that it's bad. Jay cheers on Asta, and Asta says that she's out. Ellen is the last one sanding, and the MC announces her the winner, while she eats another pepper and takes a bow
Ben has Mike and Liv sit with him and watch the school play about the 59. Ben tells Mike that he spent 8% of the town budget on the play. Some of the kids play boulders, and bombard the miners with Styrofoam rocks, and Harry and Liza laugh. As the "miners" die", they end with a touching song, much to Ben's satisfaction. He applies wildly, and the rest of the town people join in less enthusiastically.
Afterward, D'Arcy brings Asta some ice cream for her upset stomach. Asta apologizes to Jay for what she said earlier, and D'Arcy points out that her parents took her out for dinner and she got blackout drunk. They figure that they're both messes, and Asta figures that since Jimmy was there for her through all the freakouts, and she figures that it feels normal to have him with her. D'Arcy tells Asta that she'll always be there for her, and D'Arcy tells her to get the sweatshirt she wore when she dated Jimmy in high school. Asta does, and they burn it.
At home, Kate tells Ben that she'll be gone for a couple of days. He's figured out that everyone hated his play, and his wife assures that not everyone did. Max comes down singing the song from the play, and says it's great. Ben figures they'll do it better the next year, and Kate unenthusiastically agrees before going with Max to her mom's.
Harry and Asta take Liza to the bus station, and Asta tells Liza that at the end of the day she can't depend on anyone but herself. Liza says that her mother would never say that and thanks Asta for the advice, and hugs a surprised Harry. The girl says that Harry is a better father then she remembers, and she might even miss him. He says that he might miss her, and figures the alien in NYC is his family and might help him. He's not worried because he figures he's more alien than human.
Liv tells Mike that she figures an alien erased their memories. Mike says that he remembers the day, and it was a good day.
Harry figures that only an alien could have put a memory in Mike's head, and if gave Mike a good day, that's just a coincidence.
Mike remembers fishing and laughing with Lewis.
