No Real Thrill in Society Hill **1/2

Least effective episode so far in this good show.

We see the resentment between Dr. Hunt and her mother. All this comes to the surface after the mother's friend, the socially connected society writer is found dead in her pool. We have the usual array of suspects and Dr. Hunt literally claws her way to find out who did the woman in. As a fashion editor, she had made her enemies which she had exposed in her writings. Her office staff was on eggs with her as well, so there were plenty of suspects to go around.

How the good doctor came to the realization that the editor was electrocuted in the pool was very well thought out. Problem is, who cared by this point?

This episode tries too hard to look smart

This episode goes out of its way and makes extra effort to look smart and complicated but instead it just comes out confusing to the point you stop caring about the outcome.

It was very difficult to even follow the story because it was all over the place. The logic they applied to find the killer simply didn't make any sense and would have been thrown out of the court 99% of the time as inconclusive. They try too hard to reach a conclusion that's not really supported by evidence and tell the story in a super confusing way that's impossible to follow.
