HBO has released the trailer for its half-hour, six-part documentary series “Small Town News: Kpvm Pahrump,” which chronicles the heartwarming and humorous story of a Nevada news station.
Located in the small desert town of Pahrump, Nev., the privately owned station has been a labor of love for 23 years — and now plans to expand into the much larger Las Vegas marketplace, which would make it accessible to 2.6 million people.
As seen in the new trailer (which you can view up top), the series will follow the colorful and eccentric characters whose hard work has boosted the local network, as well as the community it serves.
“All of us work together, support each other,” news correspondent Eunette Gentry says in the trailer. “I’m genuinely happy, but as a side note, I have resting smile face.”
“Small Town News: Kpvm Pahrump” will consist of six episodes, with the first two episodes premiering Aug.

The late, great Carrie Fisher has been honored with a Grammy.
As part of last night’s historic ceremony, Fisher was awarded posthumously for The Princess Diarist, a frank memoir chronicling her early years on the original Star Wars franchise. It took home the prize for Best Spoken Word Album, beating out efforts from the likes of renown astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, Shelly Peiken, Bruce Springsteen, Bernie Sanders and Infinity War‘s Mark Ruffalo, whose Our Revolution: A Future to Believe In has already captured the Internet’s imagination.
It marks Carrie Fisher’s first Grammy award, too, after the late actress was nominated for her novel Wishful Drinking back in 2009. It’s fitting, then, that Fisher has been honored by the entertainment industry, particularly after her tragic death in December of 2016.

Fisher, who died in December 2016 after undergoing cardiac arrest, is nominated in the Best Spoken Word Album category for the audiobook recording of her 2016 memoir, The Princess Diarist. She was actually previously nominated for a Grammy in 2009, for her book Wishful Drinking.

Nearly six months after she passed away, Carrie Fisher’s cause of death has been revealed. Officials said in a statement yesterday that, though sleep apnea and other factors contributed, “the manner of death has been ruled undetermined.” Fisher had a heart attack on December 23 while en route from London to Los Angeles, ultimately dying on December 27; her mother, Debbie Reynolds, had a stroke and died the next day.

[Editor’s Note: The following contains spoilers from Season 3 of “Catastrophe.”]
Before her death in December, Carrie Fisher had already been recognized by the Television Academy via two previous Emmy nominations. But those nods – one in 2008, as a guest actress on “30 Rock,” and the other in 2011 for her special “Wishful Drinking” – ultimately didn’t translate to a win. Now, there’s a really good chance TV Academy voters will be moved to pay tribute to the beloved actress with an overdue posthumous statue.
While she appears on the big screen in the upcoming “Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” Fisher made her final TV appearance on the Amazon comedy “Catastrophe,” which recently released its third season. Fisher portrays Mia, the rather obnoxious mother of Rob (Rob Delaney), an American man who moved to London to marry his one-week fling Sharon (Sharon Horgan) after she became pregnant.

Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher lived much of their relationship the way they lived their lives: On stage. Los Angeles – The shocking news of the passing of Debbie Reynolds, hours after her daughter Carrie Fisher passed away, is still resonating in the 2016 atmosphere. Ms. Reynolds died of a massive stroke on December 28th, at her son’s home near Los Angeles, while making funeral arrangements for her daughter. She was 84.
Debbie Reynolds is a true movie star, straddling the era between the studio system of the 1940s through co-starring in a film by Albert Brooks (“Mother”). Her daughter Carrie was the prodigy of her marriage to singer Eddie Fisher – they were the All-American couple of the 1950s – but they were destined to have a messy and public divorce two years after Carrie was born, when Eddie revealed an affair with Elizabeth Taylor. According to Deadline, the network announced today that it’ll be rerunning Fisher’s 2010 documentary Wishful Drinking on Sunday night. Adapted from the stage show of the same name (which the Star Wars actress also turned into a book), the feature-length documentary combines Fisher’s own autobiographical stories with interviews and archive footage, allowing her to describe her raucous, often-chaotic life in her own comedic, self-effacing style. At the time of Fisher’s death, she was working with HBO on a sequel to the show; meanwhile, the network is currently planning to air a new documentary about Fisher and her mother Debbie Reynolds—who also died this week—some time early in 2017. Fisher had joked about her future obituary in her 2012 memoir Wishful Drinking and the quote was widely circulated on social...

Carrie Fisher is dead. If I can't get my head around that inconceivable fact, it's because her voice is still in my head. Her smarts and her humor, both fueled by curiosity. Her laugh bubbling up like her honesty – both unfakable. Carrie, always the smartest person in the room. And the most fun. That could be intimidating. She knew it.
When we first met, she was already Princess Leia, Star Wars royalty even in that ridiculous bun. I made a joke about it, and Carrie looked disappointed. She wasn't hurt...

As Hollywood royalty, Carrie Fisher may not have needed to be prolific, witty, and endearing, but she was all of that and then some.
The daughter of singer Eddie Fisher and actress Debbie Reynolds, Fisher was born into the industry. She made her onscreen debut in 1975's Shampoo, but it was her role as Princess Leia in 1977's Star Wars IV -- A New Hope that shot her to overnight fame.
Fisher -- who died at age 60 on Tuesday, four days after going into cardiac arrest aboard an airplane -- was more than just an actress, however. She was also a successful writer, penning many books including the semi-autobiographical novel Postcards from the Edge in 1987 and its subsequent screenplay; an autobiographical one-woman play and its nonfiction book, 2008's Wishful Drinking; and her most recent memoir, The Princess Diarist, released this year. She was also an impressive script doctor, polishing a number of well-known movies in the '90s...

Carrie Fisher passed away this week at the age of 60, but her legacy will live on forever. You might think we're referring to her iconic role as Princess Leia, but we're actually talking about her razor-sharp wit, wicked sense of humor, and brazen attitude. Many know Carrie Fisher for her work as a producer, her openness about mental illness, and her affluent work as a writer. Interestingly enough, one of the most poignant examples of Carrie's satirical nature comes in the form of an excerpt from her 2008 memoir Wishful Drinking, in which she shares a story from the set of Star Wars and muses about a "fantastic" obituary. According to the passage in the book, Carrie originally wore that memorable white Princess Leia dress with a bra underneath, but director George Lucas didn't approve. Carrie wrote, "George comes up to me the first day of filming and he takes one...

Princess Leia — commando? Carrie Fisher, who died Tuesday, was known for her wit and penned three memoirs, the first of which contained a sort of auto-obituary. In 2008’s Wishful Drinking, she wrote about her Star Wars director’s reasoning for her Princess Leia wearing that flowing white dress — and not much else — in the film. “George [Lucas] comes up to me the first day of filming, and he takes one look at the dress and says, ‘You can’t wear a bra under that dress…...

Be nice to the nerd girls today. None of us knew how much this would hurt — the passing of Carrie Fisher — even given a few days of limbo to consider the possibility that after last week’s heart attack, she would no longer be with us.
There are two sides to Carrie Fisher’s presence, for those who been ardent admirers of the actor and writer for decades. Of course, there’s the iconic role she played as Princess Leia; if you grew up loving “Star Wars,” then you grew up with Leia as the only princess you ever needed in your life.

Carrie Fisher’s death at 60 years old on Tuesday sent shockwaves through Hollywood, as fans and actors alike reacted to the news of her passing.
“We just lost a great ally for mental health and addiction,” Margaret Cho wrote on Twitter on Tuesday. “Be strong, be as strong as she'd want you to be.” Cho’s tweet was one of many to recognize the void in mental health advocacy created in the wake of Fisher’s death.
The longtime actress, famous for playing Princess Leia in the Star Wars franchise, was also a celebrated writer and advocate, who used her celebrity status to create awareness for mental health issues and addiction.
“I’ve been in therapy since I was 15 years old,” Fisher frankly told Et, later revealing to The Guardian that therapy was “my only serious relationship.”
