Quotes

  • Detective Olivia Benson : [scene changes to squad room, Olivia walking to evidence board]  She wasn't drunk. Doc said he didn't find a drop of alcohol in Julie's blood.

Detective Elliot Stabler : Yeah, her name is not Julie McManus. CSU got a hit off a thumbprint from the bottle and it belongs to a woman named Vicki Alicia Sayers.

Detective Olivia Benson : So, she gave the hospital a fake name; she been in any trouble?

Detective Elliot Stabler : No. Her prints are in the system because she applied for a civil servant job.

Detective Olivia Benson : Address is in mid-town.

Detective Elliot Stabler : Yeah, that's bogus. There's no phone; there's no record of a Vicki Sayers in the tristate. Tryin' to make herself invisible.

Detective Olivia Benson : I don't blame her; she's been raped four times by the same guy.

Donald Cragen : [Cragen comes out from office]  Olivia.

Detective Olivia Benson : Ugh, I know what you're going to say, captain. No complaining witness, no case.

Donald Cragen : I was going to say if there's a rapist out there, we'll do whatever it takes to collar him.

Detective Olivia Benson : Well, the odds are that she lives or works near the area she was attacked.

Detective Elliot Stabler : [interrupts]  Yeah, but we can't be knocking on every door in the Washington Heights area.

Donald Cragen : But, we can check her out through the tax man. She'd have to use her real name to pay the piper. Get a subpoena for the city tax rolls.

[Cragen turns and leaves and the scene changes to Vicki's residence at 279 Hamilton Terrace. The date is shown to be Wednesday, August 4]

Detective Olivia Benson : [doorbells buzzes and a cross-barred door is shown with Olivia in front of it]  Vicki. Vicki Sayers, I'm Detective Benson; we met at the hospital last night.

[buzzes the doorbell again; Elliot is shown a few feet away, pacing. Olivia gives up and begins walking toward Elliot. As she does, Elliot notices her peeking out through the window and quietly alerts Olivia]

    Detective Elliot Stabler : Hey.

    Detective Olivia Benson : Vicki.

    [walks toward window]

Detective Olivia Benson : Vicki, listen to me. I understand why you're scared, but we're here to protect you; I just - I just need you to tell me what happened, so I can stop him.

Vicki : [quietly]  How did you find me?

Detective Olivia Benson : You paid your taxes.

    Vicki : [sighs]  God.

Detective Olivia Benson : Could you please let me in? I could help you.

Vicki : No, you can't. No one can. Go away.

Detective Olivia Benson : Hold on, Vicki. Vicki!

[banging on window; meanwhile, Elliot is calmly standing behind her and Olivia once again turns to go back to Elliot]

Detective Elliot Stabler : I know, I know. We're gonna be here for a while.

[they turn to walk away; camera cuts to some time later and focuses from afar on a woman walking]

Detective Elliot Stabler : Heads up; we got a female delivering bags to Vicki's door.

Detective Olivia Benson : [hands binoculars to Elliot]  Can you see what's in them?

Detective Elliot Stabler : [binocular's point of view on the bags]  Yeah, it looks like groceries in one and office supplies in the other.

Detective Olivia Benson : Vicki comin' out to get 'em?

Detective Elliot Stabler : [intrigued tone of voice]  No, our delivery lady knows the outside door code. Vicki's so paranoid, she doesn't leave the house; she probably has a throwaway cell, too.

Detective Olivia Benson : So we can't trace it. Rule number one in the stalking victims handbook.

    [female is seen leaving]

Detective Olivia Benson : Let's see if she knows when Vicki's comin' out.

[Olivia exits the car and jogs toward the woman]

Detective Olivia Benson : Excuse me. Police.

[brings out her badge with the woman's back turned and puts it away as she turns her head toward Olivia, who is behind her and finally fully turns her body and points to herself]

    Delivery Lady : Me?

Detective Olivia Benson : How long you been workin' for Vicki Sayers?

Delivery Lady : I could lose my job if I say anything.

Detective Olivia Benson : Well, she could lose her life if you don't.

Delivery Lady : [pauses]  I run all her errands so she doesn't have to leave the house. I pay her bills so her money can't be traced.

Detective Olivia Benson : Does she have a job?

Delivery Lady : [woman looks around; sighs]  Medical accounting. She works from home; only goes into an office once a month.

Detective Olivia Benson : When was the last time?

Delivery Lady : Yesterday. That's all I can tell you. I have to go.

[turns and leaves; Olivia stands for a bit processing the information and then purposefully turns herself and leaves for Vicki's place once again and knocks]

Detective Olivia Benson : Vicki. Vicki, I get it. You know that he's watching you because he attacked you on the one day that you left your house and you know that he's coming back.

    [knocks]

    Detective Olivia Benson : Vicki.

    [enunciates]

Detective Olivia Benson : Please, let me in. I can help you.

[pauses, then turns to go back, where Stabler is in the messy car, watching her]

Detective Elliot Stabler : So, is she looking at us again?

[Olivia is looking through the binoculars]

Detective Olivia Benson : Well, maybe if she sees we're serious, she'll come out.
