• Sheriff Bagley : I sure hope you got this figured right, Larry.

  D.D. : You can bet on it, Sheriff.

  Pepper : Right.

  Dotty : [suddenly enters]  Don't worry, Sheriff. If Larry says he's got it, he's got it.

  Larry : All right, Dotty. You were warned about coming around here when we're on a case.

  Dotty : Oh, I didn't come to see you. It's the elephants.

  D.D. : I can't wait to here this one.

  Larry : What about the elephants?

  Dotty : Well, you remember those two bags of peanuts we bought for them?

  Larry : You forgot to feed them, right?

  Dotty : Boy, you're smart, Larry.

  Larry : Uh-huh, and you only came back to give them their peanuts.

  Dotty : Sure. Elephants never forget and I don't want them to be mad when the circus comes next year.

  D.D. : I'll swap you two brothers and a parakeet for her.

  Pepper : It's a deal.

  Larry : Shorty, what am I going to do with you?

  Dotty : How about letting me stay 'til this is over?

  Larry : [chuckles]  All right, just keep out of the way.

• [Wimper finds a small, round red object and it gets stuck to his nose] 

  Woofer : There you go again. Fooling around when we're supposed to be working.

  Wimper : Well, maybe it's a clue.

  Woofer : Clue. Ain't you learn nothing from me? Does that look like a clue to you?

  Pepper : What do you got there, Wimper?

  [Pepper takes the red object] 

  D.D. : Hey, you guys, what's going on?

  Pepper : Wimper found something. Looks like red puddy. Might be a clue.

  [Attempting to take the credit, Woofer steps forward and pushes Wimper back] 

  Larry : Send it back to Dotty and have her do a rundown on Tonio and Peter.

  Woofer : You're learning fast, Wimp. Heh! Heh! I was afraid you weren't gonna see that clue.

  Wimper : Huh?

  Woofer : I had it spotted all the time, but I wanted to see if you'd pick up on it.

  Wimper : Oh, boy.

• Dotty : Woofer! Wimp! Where are you?

  Larry : Not here, that's for sure. Turn on the beeper, half-pint.

  [Dotty does as told] 

  Larry : You got them spotted?

  Dotty : Uh, you're not gonna get mad, are you?

  Larry : All right, shorty, where are they?

  Dotty : Well, they probably got bored, like I do when I sit around waiting to be 14.

  Larry : Where are they?

  Dotty : They didn't know you were gonna come back looking for them.

  Larry : Dotty, where are the dogs?

  Dotty : At the circus.

  Larry : Oh, boy. Wouldn't ya know.

• [back at the circus, Larry finds Wimper dancing around while Woofer collects coins for his performance] 

  Larry : Okay, knock it off!

  Woofer : [to Wimper]  Ho ho! We made a buck 85. That's almost two hot dogs a piece.

  Larry : What do you two think you're doing?

  Woofer : Play it big or he's liable to make us give it back.

  [Woofer and Wimper bark excitedly] 

  Larry : [chuckles]  All right, I'm glad to see you, too. But let's get out of here before they arrest us for panhandling.

• Larry : All right, what have we got? A high wire star who disappears in midair.

  Pepper : A partner who couldn't care less if he doesn't come back.

  D.D. : A strongman who could pick him up and walk away with him.

  Larry : An owner who threatened him if he quit.

  Pepper : And an animal trainer who'd like to get rid of him so he'd be the star attraction.
