- [the sheriff arrives to meet Larry, Pepper, and D.D]
- Sheriff Bagley: Sure hope this isn't a wild goose chase.
- Dotty: Hi, everybody!
- Larry: What are you doing here?
- Sheriff Bagley: I brought her. Said she had something urgent for Pepper.
- Dotty: I brought your sweater, sis. Thought you might be cold.
- Pepper: I happen to be WEARING a sweater.
- Dotty: Oh, hey, heh, how about that? Well, as long as I'm here...
- Larry: Okay, small fry, as long as you're here you can stay... but out of the way, hear?
- Dotty: Yes, sir!
- Pepper: Brilliant, super sleuth. He gets the clue and we get waterlogged.
- D.D.: That's not all we get.
- [D.D. pulls out a golf ball]
- D.D.: Ta-da! I still got the golf ball he was after. I grabbed another one while he was chasing us.
- Pepper: Nice going, D.D.
- D.D.: I'm not as dumb as you think.
- Pepper: There's no way you could be.
- Sheriff Bagley: I'm on my way to check him out. Uh, do me a favor, huh, kids?
- D.D.: Sure, Sheriff.
- Sheriff Bagley: GO HOME AND WATCH TV LIKE OTHER KIDS!
- D.D.: Sure... as soon as we solve the weird smuggler caper.
- Larry: [about the dogs] Hey, looks like they dug up something.
- [Larry takes a box from Wimper and looks in it]
- Pepper: Looks like a rusty old box.
- Woofer: [to Wimper] I thought I told you to leave that junky thing where it was.
- Larry: Fantastic! It's a real case clincher.
- Woofer: That's my boy! Heh! Heh! You did exactly like I taught you.
- Wimper: I thought you said to leave that junky old box where it was.
- Woofer: Well, that was a test, son, and you passed it. Heh! Heh! Good boy.
