A Very Good Season 7 Episode
Jimmy_the_Gent421 July 2020
Carol announces that the guests are Steve Lawrence and Tim Conway but there is no Q&A.

First sketch is a funny one where Tim plays a man meeting his fiancee's (Carol) father Harvey. Tim had been bitten by a chimp before coming there and has a reaction to the shot he received, making him act like a monkey.

Steve sings "Maybe This Time" which appeared in the film "Cabaret".

There is a very funny Stella Toddler sketch, in which Stella is a old time acting coach getting her feet in cement at Grauman's Chinese theater. Harvey plays a host of the event and Lyle does a spoof of Rudy Vallee with megaphone. Stella has some funny bits with a spotlight and the wet cement.

There is a poignant sketch where Carol and Steve play plain looking people who suddenly become beautiful to each other. She sings a nice tune "In Buddy's Eyes" and they do some good duets as well.

There is a sketch with Harvey, Tim and Steve as admen who act like spurned lovers. This was done on other shows with other actors. Tim is the one who has a hard time keeping a straight face this time. I saw outtakes on another show which shows him in uncontrollable laughter in this scene.

The musical finale is all about movie death scenes. Steve does a James Cagney impression and gets shot. Lyle does a western shootout. Harvey does a Peter Lorre impression. Carol plays a dying woman who wants to hear a concerto while being carried by Harvyey. Vicki does "The Red Shoes" ending where the ballerina dies. Then Tim does a WWI pilot scene where his plane crashes.

Carol plugs next week's show with Eydie Gorme and Paul Sand and again talks about the environment and sings her closing song.
