- Belle puts Poppy in a cab and offers to let her stay a few more days. Poppy assures her she'll be fine in her mom's house. Belle tells her to call if she needs anything. Poppy assures her she's a big girl.
Ben comes downstairs and ask if Hannah has a busy day. She offers to blow the day off and spend it with him. She makes various offers, but he's not interested. He tells her they need to work on their trust issues. He takes his keys and leaves and tells her to go to work.
Ben wanders down the street and stops in a theater. He's settled in watching a movie when Poppy joins him. She apologizes for the whole "bed" thing and asks if they can be friends. He agrees to a truce.
Belle arrives for her appointment and finds Harry the cop in the elevator. He reminds her he called her and she didn't. She remembers their tryst in the alley. She tells him she has a client who likes very specific role play. She goes to the room and primps. She dresses up in frills and lace and lights candles. The bellman knocks on the door with a delivery -- it's a coffin. He wheels it in and as it jostles, the man inside says "oof." A classic horror movie soundtracks plays. Belle tells us it's Ambrose, a famous movie critic, with a passion for old movies. She plays along.
After the movie, Ben tells Poppy he has to go, he promised to spend the day with Hannah. They say "see you round" and she strolls off.
Belle makes Ambrose some tea as he naps in his coffin. She knocks on it to wake him up but hears nothing. She tries again. Nothing. She pushes the lid off. He's resting peacefully inside, but isn't breathing.
Ben calls. She tells him she can't talk. She takes Ambrose's pulse. Cut to the paramedics wheeling him away. The bellman casts her a dirty look. The cop checks on her, but she runs off. She calls Ben and leaves a tearful message.
Ben joins Poppy and her friends. The cop drives up and offers her a ride.
After meeting with her friends, Ben and Poppy walk along the river. "I didn't think you'd come," she tells him. "Neither did I," he says.
She kisses him, but he doesn't kiss back. "I shouldn't have come," Ben says. "Then why did you?" she says. "Sometimes it's hard to hold on to the person you love when she's never f----- there," he says. He says you don't get to choose who you love. She understands, sort of like you can't choose your family.
Belle wipes back tears and shares a flask with Harry. She tells him Ambrose was funny and proud of his son who was about to start college. Harry says some people make you care. She thinks it's not fair he only got half a life. Harry wants to show her something.
Poppy goes through her mom's things and finds a box with all sorts of notes and art from her childhood, even her hospital bracelet.
Ben heads home and finally checks his messages.
In another elevator, Harry blindfolds Belle. Her phone rings. Harry answers and says the number is with held. He hangs up on Ben. "What the f---, Hannah?" he says.
Harry leads Belle on to a rooftop, then onto the ledge, looking down. He holds onto her as she looks out over the city. He tips her over and tells her to feel the adrenaline, which is what they both need. "Why fight it? We both need more than the average joe -- or Ben," he says.
He says there's nothing worse than predictability. They kiss but then she asks him to take her home.
Ben leaves another message, saying he's worried and asking her to call.
Harry drops Belle off and asks for a kiss good-night. She says they should just aim for friends. She tells Ben that everything is fine and she just freaked out.
She asks him to kiss her. She thinks about Harry, but tells him everything's Ok.
