The Real Story: Titanic (2011)
*** 1/2 (out of 4)
The Real Story is an interesting series that takes a look at popular Hollywood movies and then discusses the real events that led to them.
TITANIC was, at its time, the biggest movie ever made and it became one of the most successful. Of course, there were a lot of made up stories including the main romance so this documentary sets out to tell some of the true events that influenced the film. Of all the historical events in time, I'd say that the Titanic is the one I've seen the most movies or documentaries on. I'm not going to lie because I love the subject and find every bit of it very fascinating. This documentary covers some familiar ground about the various mistakes made that night (lack of lifeboats, the Captains various mistakes) but for the most part I found it to be very entertaining. Also the scientist look at what would have happened had the boat been going slower or taken on the iceberg head on. If you're a Titanic buff then there's not too much new information here but there's no question that this is still highly entertaining.
