Better than average Lifetime movie
juneebuggy28 January 2015
Another one of those Lifetime movies that sucks you in on a lazy Sunday afternoon. This was one was actually pretty good. Here A woman searches relentlessly across the country for her missing sister (Jennifer Morrison) who is suffering from bipolar disorder and took to drugs and wild partying before she disappeared.

With no help from police or authorities (because her sister is an adult)locating Ashley takes 'Libba' into some dangerous situations and almost costs her everything (marriage, career) but she refuses to give up.

Based on a true story this has the usual Lifetime budget, acting skills and cameos from familiar, now aging actors. Filmed in Vancouver which substitutes for Portland here. 05.13

5 if you're not into law and order'esk shows

The acting is very spotty. And surprisingly so, coming from AJ Cook. The story alone is what gives it a 7 - the desire to find a loved one. A true drama.

The Unconditional Love of a Sister
lavatch6 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
"Bringing Ashley Home" resembles a docudrama in its attempt to depict the genesis of the Outpost For Hope, the organization founded by Libba Phillips to assist families who desperately search for adult loved ones who have been declared missing. But, at its heart, the film is really the story of the love of one sister for another.

Libba and her sister Ashley (Ash) were always close growing up. But whereas Libba was practical and an over-achiever, Ash was always late, unprepared, and unfocused. It was not until she spent time in rehab that she was diagnosed as bipolar.

When Ash went missing again, Libba discovered a complete breakdown in the "system" in which the police, medical practitioners, and rehab centers would steadfastly refuse to become involved in an entire subculture of human beings that might be best called "the lost people."

It is Libba whose rises to the occasion to recognize the series shortcoming and take charge of the Outpost for Hope Organization. Her obsession to this good cause costs Libba her marriage to the long-suffering David. But it does bring momentary success to the discovery of Ash, who is eight months pregnant and residing in a trailer in Olympia, Washington, due to a kind man.

Based on a true story of Ash, who would eventually disappear for good, when she walked out on her infant son Jake, never to return, the film offers a chilling look at what it is like when a loved one vanishes and no one seems to care. One person who did care and did make a difference was Libba, whose heroism demonstrates the unstinting love of one sister for another.

Absolutely Amazimg

I will literally never be the same after watching this movie. I have yet to come across one so powerful and emotional. I am still in tears. Not to mention my two absolute favorite actresses star in it and they did a wonderful job.

Jennifer Morrison and A.J Cook deserve some kind of award for their outstanding acting in this film. Their emotions were so raw and powerful I felt myself actually feeling what the characters felt. And when you can laugh, cry and get angry right along with the characters you know it's an amazing movie. I highly recommend this movie. It will definitely change you in some way.

Just watch, I'm still on shock, did't expect this punch of reality in the end, it really show us that life isn't a farytale

Surprisingly heart wrenching..

Jennifer Morrison and A.J. Cook were just amazing in this tv movie.

Libba(A.J.) almost loses everything that is important to her trying to find her sister. It appears that Ashley does not want to be found and would be happier to live in her addiction. Unfortunately, Ashley has to deal with being bi-polar as well. Being off your medication can alter your thought process.

I have not been in situations like this but know people who are and they thought the movie was quite realistic after I asked them to watch it.

I thought Patricia Richardson was great as per usual.
