Predictable, sometimes disappointing, but pretty funny
yonigpie16 January 2011
This years Golden Globes didn't have all the winners that me and probably the majority of you wanted, but thanks to Ricky Gervais and all of the presenters (especially Robert Downey Jr., and Matt Damon) proved very enjoyable and funny.

Biggest Disappointments Glee won three golden globes. To add insult to injury, their version of Don't Stop Believing was played three times, and they beat out candidates like Modern Family, and 30 Rock, which are much better than Glee. No offense, this is my personal opinion. Hans Zimmer Didn't Win Best Score For Inception. In fact Inception didn't win a single thing and the score for the social network, which was OK at best, won. Also, it was too predictable. Social Network won best drama, director, screenplay and score, Colin Firth of course won for the kings speech (he definitely deserved it, but he is going to win for the Oscars and i was hoping James Franco would win, because he was brilliant).

The Kids Are All Right Won (Again, Im not saying it didn't deserve, but i really wanted Red to win. Also, for that category, why was there Burlesque, The Tourist, and Alice in Wonderland? It should have been Other Guys, Scott Pilgrim, Kick Ass, Red and The Kids Are all Right). Also, 127 Hours didn't win a single thing and it was a great movie.

Good things that happened= Jim Parsons, (the nerd from Big bang Theory) won, which was a pleasant surprise. Robert De Niro won the Cecil B. Demille Award, and was presented by Matt Damon, who was very funny(he talked about his movies, then quoted other characters in the movies. His best line was,"And who could forget 'Taxi Driver' where he was literally unrecognizable as a blonde 13 year old hooker?" Christian Bale won for best supporting actor, for his excellent performance in The Fighter (Melissa Leo also won for the Fighter). Toy Story 3 won best animated picture (surprise!). Natalie Portman got her well deserved Golden Globe for her excellent performance in Black Swan. Robert Downey Jr., for the minute that he was on the stage. Quote:"I don't think an actress can say she's done her best work... until she's slept with me." As much as it was predictable, most of the awards handed to the social network were deserved. I think Fincher did a better job with fight club personally, but he did a great job here too Overall, this was better than last year in the fact that they gave it to Avatar last year, and this year was good for movies. Give Gervais the Hook; Show All Right ***

Warning: Spoilers
Observations of the award show: Some of the winners had to walk a great distance to the podium when their names were called out as the winners. The area to walk was very narrow. In NYC, Mayor Bloomberg would have closed the place down as this has to be a fire violation.

Ricky Gervais is unbelievably nasty. He really hits below the belt. He knocks just about everyone and his comments are not exactly flattering. He made some real crude remarks. On the last 2 Golden Globe awards before this ceremony, he passed some anti-Jewish nasty remarks which I didn't appreciate.

Jesse Eisenberg, nominee for "The Social Network," was very subdued and seemed to be in deep thought. Johnny Depp and Brad Pitt were constantly chewing gum. Anyone know why Geoffrey Rush was wearing a hat? I hope he is not ill.

The best song nominees should have been stretched out as they do at the Oscars.

Robert DeNiro really stole the evening with his hilarious acceptance speech while getting the Cecil B. DeMille Award.

Mrs. Schroeder losing the supporting award for his excellent portrayal as Steve Buscemi's live-in in "Boardwalk Empire" was a complete surprise.

Stop with the music already to alert winners to get off. Most ignore the warnings anyway. It's quite rude to do that. The show ran under a little less than 3 hours anyway.

It was very mediocre!

Warning: Spoilers
I was really looking forward to the 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards. But i was very disappointed. Because although the jokes were good! I wasn't really entertained. I was also disappointed with the actual results, like i was hoping Kevin Spacey would win for Casino Jack but lost to Paul Giamatti for Barney's Version! And James Franco losing to Colin Firth for The King's Speech. But the biggest disappointment was the Best Motion Picture-Comedy or Musical category. I think that Red should of won instead of The Kids Are All Right! But don't get me wrong i'm not angry that The Kids Are All Right won, it's that i'm angry that Red didn't win!
