A few months ago came word of a TV series adaptation of Sydney Pollack's classic 1975 paranoid thriller "Three Days Of The Condor" for Skydance Productions.
Robert Redford starred in the original film as a low-level CIA analyst who returns from lunch to his work at a safe house, only to find all his colleagues murdered. He then goes on the run trying to find out the truth whilst evading those responsible.
In a new interview with Skydance CEO David Ellison and President of Production Dana Goldberg, the pair were asked by Collider how the show is moving along. Goldberg says:
"We started talking about the idea of Condor in general, and for all of the CIA thriller type movies that have been made, that just that word, you say Condor, and everybody immediately knows what you're talking about. You don't even have to say Three Days of. When you say Condor people go 'oh,...

This weekend, as you search for a movie to watch, you can go see Captain America: The Winter Soldier or pick one of approximately 14 billion options available on streaming over a variety of services, be it Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, On Demand, or other sites. Every week, Vulture tries to make life easier by narrowing it down to a handful of heartily recommended options. This week, Angelina Jolie, Walter Matthau, Alfred Hitchcock, and Robert Redford stick their noses in enemy business for our pleasure.Three Days of the CondorThe Winter Soldier shares the DNA of Sydney Pollock's paranoia-laden chase film. Fully realizing a New Yorker's worst nightmare, CIA librarian Joe Turner a.k.a. “Condor” (a.k.a. Robert Redford) steps out for a sandwich at the local bodega, only to return to an office full of gunned down coworkers. Turner evades his would-be assassins and sets off on a hunt...

With its inspiration coming from both ’70s paranoia thrillers and today’s headlines, there’s a lot of background to cover for Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Basically, the list of movies to watch for this new Marvel sequel could simply be: all post-Watergate conspiracy theory movies from around 40 years ago and all documentaries of the last 10 years dealing with post-9/11 fearmongering and domestic surveillance. But I’m going to be a little more specific with those targets while also highlighting some directly referenced movies, some earlier features starring cast members of The Winter Soldier, a new documentary about one of the supporting players and more. We’ve actually already featured a whole trilogy that compliments the plot of the Captain America sequel, which you can read about over on our sister site, Nonfics. Unlike that post, this one is hopefully pretty light on spoilers. However, I like to give the warning with these lists that it...

Happy belated birthday to Faye Dunaway, an actress so powerful and commanding, I sometimes find myself thinking about her work on accident. I'm serious. Some days when I'm tired and in need of a jolt, my brain reroutes to Dunaway and her vulpine stare in, say, the chess scene from The Thomas Crown Affair (and Madonna's tribute to that scene in her "Power of Goodbye" video), her glamorous austerity in The Voyage of the Damned (God, can you believe there's a movie that costarred Dunaway and Lee Grant? Ferocious overload!), or one of her tenderer moments in Barfly. Hell, I think about when she scared the dickens out of Cristina Yang on Grey's Anatomy. She is fearsome and unmistakable, and in honor of the legendary, arguably notorious actress' birthday, here are my five favorite films of hers.

Be it for money, bargaining purposes, or strictly out of necessity, movie characters have been getting kidnapped since silent-era evildoers began the mini industry of tying women to train tracks.
Not all kidnappers are mustache-twirling villains, though. In fact, many of them have a darn good reason and are pretty nice folks once you're forced at gunpoint to get to know them. Amanda Seyfried could sure use some do's and dont's in the new kidnap thriller "Gone," but if you ever do get kidnapped in a film, we have a few rules to live by so you don't wind up on a milk carton … or in a wood chipper.
Follow the Kidnapper's Instructions
Evidence: "Fargo," "Ransom," "Misery," "Alpha Dog," "Silence of the Lambs"
As a result of William H. Macy's greed in scheming an inside-kidnapping job with a skeevy Steve Buscemi in "Fargo," about a dozen people lost their lives.

Randy conspires to find a great bottle.
It would happen this way: You may be walking one day and a car will slow down beside you. A door will open and someone you you know – perhaps someone you trust – will smile and offer you… a bottle of wine.
The 1970s brought a new kind of spy movie to us – the kind where the government wears the black hat. These modern spies are corporate killers who do what they do not for love of anything. They do what they do because that’s what the memo said to do.
Robert Redford may not be the spy in “Three Days of the Condor,” but he sure has the thrill-a-minute life foisted upon him. This guy can’t pick up the mail without dodging bullets. Of course, nowadays that’s not so unusual. Don’t watch this movie if you skipped giving your mailman a holiday tip.

American actor Cliff Robertson died at the age of 88 on Saturday September 10 from natural causes.
To the younger generation (God…I sound like my Dad!) Cliff Robertson will be best remembered as Uncle Ben in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man, also seen in flashback in Spider-Man 2 and 3.
In my childhood, he was a very familiar face in the mid sixties and seventies. Many of the films that he appeared in probably won’t register with most people but he made a big impact with me. Maybe it was Robertson’s calming demeanour and intelligent delivery that made you believe in every character that he played. You also felt that you knew him like some favourite Uncle.
He played Mosquito pilot wing commander Roy Grant in the British war film 633 Squadron (64). At the time I didn’t think that it was at all strange for an American officer to fly with the Raf.
