Other gay characters featured are Kyle, a young writer whom Tom had a fling with; Sam, a ensemble cast member and dancer from Season 1 whom Tom likes and also had a on/off relationship with; Bobby, another ensemble cast member from Season 1; and Patrick, an actor who is a jury member for the Tony awards.   • This season contain two scenes of implied drug use as a stressed lead singer resorts to taking prescriptive drugs.
  • An apparent overdose leads to her behaving erratically during a stage performance and her eventual dismissal. The latter scene depicts her being disappointed after losing the starring role and pouring a large dose of pills on her hand although no consumption is shown.

  • 'Smash' is an American musical-drama television series about a New York theater community involved in the creation of a new musical based on the life of Marilyn Monroe. Drama unfolds both on stage and off as the different characters deals with their often chaotic personal life and the demands of life in the theater.
  • 'Smash: Season Two' begins where Season One left off with 'Bombshell' heading for Broadway in New York City but the show runs into legal and creative troubles which threaten its future. Meanwhile Karen meets two aspiring friends and partners, Kyle, a stage writer, and Jimmy, a composer and tries to get their work noticed, especially by Derek. Ivy gets the lead in Liaisons, a show based on the play 'Les Liaisons Dangereuses'.
  • Some scenes might be emotionally intense for some.
