  Priest : Is someone there?

  Confessor : Bless me father for I have sinned exceedingly in thought, word, and deed. I confess to almighty God to you, father. It's been 35 years since my last confession.

• Confessor : How can you have faith in something that can't be proven?

  Priest : That's what faith is.

  Confessor : No, father, that's what hope is.

• Priest : [after the Confessor admits to killing someone]  You have to go to the police.

  Confessor : That's not really an option, Father.

  Priest : Well, you can't be expected to be forgiven if you're not truly willing to repent for your sins.

  Confessor : I'm not here for forgiveness. I'm here because I want to understand.

  Priest : Understand what?

  Confessor : The man I killed last night knew he was going to die. He asked for a moment to pray and I let him. And I watched a peace come over him. A kind of peace I've never seen before.

  Priest : His peace came from his faith.

• Priest : Would you like to tell me your sins?

  Confessor : I've seen things. Done things, horrible things.

  Priest : And you feel guilty for them?

  Confessor : No.

  Priest : I see. Well, what kind of things are you talking about?

  Confessor : Last night, I killed a man.

• Confessor : Come on over here, Jimmy. Let me see you.

  Jimmy : I... I know what Mr. Reglesi's thinking. That's why I ran. But i-i-it's all a mistake.

  Confessor : No mistake. Otherwise, I wouldn't be here. Where's the money? WHERE'S THE MONEY?

  Jimmy : I don't suppose...

  Confessor : No.

  Jimmy : You don't even know what I was gonna say.

  Confessor : I know exactly what you're gonna say. And the answer's no. There's no way out of this one.

  Jimmy : Could I have a moment? I'd like to make my peace with God.

  [after a few moments of silent prayer] 

  Jimmy : I forgive you.

• Priest : Taking life is not a decision of a man.

  Confessor : So God's the only one who gets to make that call?

  Priest : Yes.

  Confessor : Well, He's free to stop me any time.

  Priest : Well, perhaps that's why you're here.

• Confessor : [to scumbag broker]  You know we try to stay unemotional in cases like this. But I have to tell you - I really don't like you.

• Confessor : I didn't kill you tonight, because a moment of fear and a painless death doesn't even come close to making up for the life time of suffering you've caused.
