Disney Channel actor Cameron Boyce’s death was tied to his epilepsy, a report from the Los Angeles Country Medical Examiner-Coroner revealed on Tuesday.
Boyce died on July 6 at the age of 20. The coroner’s report called it a “sudden unexpected death in epilepsy.”
The coroner’s findings are consistent with his family’s previous statement, which attributed his death to a seizure from epilepsy. “Cameron’s tragic passing was due to a seizure as a result of an ongoing medical condition, and that condition was epilepsy,” the statement, issued a few days after his death, read.
Boyce was best known for his roles on Disney Channel series “Jesse” from 2011 to 2015, and the three “Descendants” movies as Carlos de Vil, the son of Cruella de Vil. He’s set to appear in the upcoming third movie in the series, which canceled its red carpet premiere in honor of Boyce earlier this month.

The Lion Guard is a somewhat surprisingly good show airing on Disney Junior, and the story of Kion and his friends continues with a new DVD release The Lion Guard: Unleash the Power.
The release is the first collection of episodes available on DVD, and it’s not only a good selection because these are episodes that focus on the individual members of the Guard, but because these are some of the series’ most rewatchable efforts.
The show is not just a fun adventure for kids, but the series takes on a broad range within its episodic content, tackling some tricky issues, without actually decoding its own efforts and bogging down in overt explanation.
For example, the episode Fuli’s New Family spans a variety of issues, but chief among them is an examination of the idea that just because doing something seems objectively “right,” or, “how friends act,...

October on Netflix brings "Beasts of No Nation," starring Idris Elba as a ruthless African warlord who trains child soldiers. Directed by Cary Fukunaga ("True Detective"), it debuts on Netflix and in theaters on October 16.
While a lot of great horror movies are leaving Netflix in October, some new ones are coming exclusively to the platform: "Manson Family Vacation," (starring Jay Duplass as a guy whose brother is obsessed with Charles Manson) and "Circle," in which 50 strangers are held captive and must choose which one of them will live. We're also excited for "The Nightmare," the buzzy documentary about sleep terrors from the directors of "Room 237."
And if you want more horror, there are new seasons coming to Netflix, including "iZombie," "The Vampire Diaries," "Supernatural," "Hemlock Grove," and "American Horror Story: Freak Show."

We've had some glimpses of David Tennant's darker side, but not of the like we'll be seeing soon for Disney.

Last year we ran a schedule of every TV/Cable network schedule we could find that could be construed as Horror or Halloween related for the month of October. Let’s just say it proved useful for our readers and even for our staff when they were looking to find something to watch, wanted to program their DVR’s or didn’t want to miss out on some great “live” Horror. Isn’t there something about having a movie fed to you on TV as opposed to watching it on Blu-ray or DVD or streaming? We may not like commercials, but the randomness that you can associate with a TV program itinerary is novel. It removes a little bit of control from the audience who is all to concerned with being in control these days (just look at the reasons behind publishing a piece like this).

Chad Hartigan’s perfect little drama, one of the best films at the first annual Ccff, may not have enough speed or tension for those addicted to Hollywood blockbusters but it is an entrancing drama about what people do for one another just through kindness and support. By presenting believable, lived-in characters, Hartigan creates a genuinehuman story. And the film is now available not just on DVD but Netflix streaming. Watch it. Then buy it.

Well, actually, he’s a lot of animals. From Perry the Platypus on Phineas and Ferb to Appa and Momo on Avatar: The Last Airbender, voice actor Dee Bradley Baker is the man behind a whole slew of animal and creature sounds you might not even guess could come from a human being. Of course, he also voices awesome speaking characters, such as all of the clones on Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and Klaus the German fish on American Dad! And then there are all of those video games he’s provided voices or sounds for, like the Halo series, Portal 2, Gears of War 1 – 3, Diablo III, Left 4 Dead 2, the Ben 10 video games, and several Marvel and DC games, including Batman: Arkham City. In fact, if you look over his ridiculously long IMDb page (329 titles!) I think you’ll find that even if you are not a heavy consumer of entertainment,...

Netflix continues to ramp up its post-SpongeBob/Dora kids offerings. A week after sealing a huge deal with DreamWorks Animation for original content, the subscription service has inked an exclusive distribution pact for Mako Mermaids — a spinoff of the Australian teen drama H20: Just Add Water, which is a worldwide hit in syndication and is available on Netflix. All 26 half-hour episodes of Mermaids, from Jonathan M. Shiff Prods., will premiere July 26 in the Us and the streaming service’s other territories. The series centers on teenage Zac, who is camping on Mako Island and is secretly watched by three young mermaids tasked with guarding the isle. After an encounter with magical water, he becomes a fish-tailed merman, causing problems for the mermaids. The news comes less than a month after the expiration of Netflix’s content deal with Viacom — whose programming now streams exclusively on Amazon’s service — and...

Comic-book app Kung Fu Robot is supposedly for children, but really it should appeal to anyone with a yen for robots, ninjas and/or peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. This is a creative motion-comic with a real sense of fun, with three chapters at launch and more to come. A ninja-splatting mini-game and soundboard are thrown in for good measure.

Peter Pan is not the first Disney movie that jumps to most people’s minds, but even among those who take issue with the film’s ending (like myself- and the New York Times… upon release) for not staying true to the original work, and thus somewhat negating the adventure, it’s a Disney classic that has a firm place within the Disney establishment. Whether it’s the classic ride at Disneyland, Tinkerbell’s inclusion in the Disney logo roll, the recent explosion in popularity of the new Tinkerbell movies and cute spins like Jake and the Never Land Pirates, or dozens of other treats, Peter Pan has touched much of the Disney world.

I really don't put much stock in the International Animated Film Society's 2013 Annie Awards, which is why I didn't rush to report on their results on Saturday. One year Disney and Pixar boycott the event, feeling there was an unfair advantage paid to larger contributing sponsors, DreamWorks being the primary example. So with such a nasty stench over the event what good does it do to pay it much mind? That said, I'll be brief in mentioning Wreck-It Ralph topped Saturday night's winners with five awards, including Best Animated Picture. The awards have something like a 75% streak when it comes to helping predict the eventual Oscar winner for Best Animated Feature and as the days have gone on, it's looking more and more like Ralph will be this year's winner (see my predictions here). Pixar's Brave, Laika's ParaNorman and DreamWorks' Rise of the Guardians each took home two awards in lesser,...

I love the art of animation, and it's amazing to see how far things have come and advanced over the years. The industry is changing in terms of technology, but what it all really comes down to is telling good stories. There's been a lot of great animated movies this year, and many of them are up for several awards at the 40th Annual Annie Awards.
Some of the movies nomainated include Brave, Frankenweenie, Hotel Transylvania, ParaNorman, Rise of the Guardians, The Pirates! Band of Misfits, and Wreck-It Ralph. Out of those films my favorite is a toss up between Wreck-It Ralph and ParaNorman, those were two pretty incredible films. I think ParaNorman has the edge though.
Some of the other animated properties nominated are Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 1, Disney Tron: Uprising, Justice League: Doom, Robot Chicken ‘DC Comics Special', South Park ‘Raising the Bar’, and several others.
