After taking some hard hits earlier this season, Sunday Night Football seems to have found its stride – at least in the ratings. In a competitively lighter than usual Sunday on the Big 4 and with a massive 40-7 blowout of the Carolina Panthers by the Seattle Seahawks, last night's edition of the NBC and NFL franchise was practically even with last week and the week before that. Scoring an 11.5/19 in metered market results, the big win by the Super Bowl Xlviii champs was…...

After two show-stopping performances, Bruno Mars is taking a break from the Super Bowl Halftime Show—not that he has any regrets. "God bless the Super Bowl," he says in Rolling Stone's Nov. 17 issue, on newsstands Friday. "They hooked me up, they took a chance on me." Mars headlined Super Bowl Xlviii in 2014, performing "Billionaire," "Locked Out of Heaven," "Treasure," "Runaway Baby" and "Just the Way You Are," as well as "Give It Away" with the Red Hot Chili Peppers. At the time, the up-and-coming singer says he "had to keep reminding them why they took a chance on me. You put that camera on my band and me, and I got you." Before he...

Our congratulations to all of the nominees.” First-time nominees include Jodie Foster ("House of Cards," "Orange is the New Black"), Cary Fukunaga ("True Detective"), Mike Judge ("Silicon Valley"), Lisa Cholodenko ("Olive Kitteridge"), Michael Wilson ("The Trip to Bountiful") and Jill Soloway ("Transparent"). They tied the knot in January 2012, several months before Wilson was selected in the third round of the NFL draft by Seattle. Money disputes couldn’t stop the Entourage movie from going forward and neither can Kevin Connolly breaking his leg. The actor broke his left leg in two places Wednesday while playing football on set in L.A. with Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, I’ve learned. The accident, which Connolly posted a pic of on Twitter on March 21, occurred while the cameras were rolling on the Warner Bros pic. (Update 12:53 Pm - According to a tweet from director Doug Ellin, the actor caught the ball.) Connolly immediately iced his leg, I’m told, and went back to work to do the next scene soon afterward. He showed up for work the next day, and production on the movie based on the long-running HBO Hollywood hustle series has not been interrupted at all. Super Bowl Xlviii-winning Wilson is set to make a cameo in the movie. Pain management advice from a Super Bowl champ!

Although the crab fishermen featured on Discovery's "Deadliest Catch" -- returning for a 10th season this spring -- ply their trade on Alaska's Bering Sea, many of them have their home port in Seattle, Wash. So it's no surprise to hear that, far out in the ocean, the crews still managed to follow the fortunes of their home NFL team, the Seahawks.
And when second-year quarterback Russell Wilson and the Seahawks routed veteran Qb Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos to win Super Bowl Xlviii by a score of 43-8 on Sunday, Feb. 2, full pots weren't the only thing making the crabbers happy.

Richard Sherman revealed in a post-game interview that the Seattle Seahawks managed to neutralized Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos offense on Sunday by learning the Qb’s signals.
Richard Sherman Talks Peyton Manning Hand Signals
Manning has long been known for the trickery and deception he employs prior to the snap. Reading the formation of the defense, he’ll call route audibles in ways only his squad can understand – until Sunday night when the Seahawks de-coded some of his hand signals.
“All we did was play situational football. We knew what route concepts they liked on different downs, so we jumped all the routes. Then we figured out the hand signals for a few of the route audibles in the first half,” Sherman told The Mmqb. “Me, Earl [Thomas], Kam [Chancellor]… we’re not just three All-Pro players. So much for the idea that a lopsided score in the Super Bowl would depress TV ratings.
Despite early indications that Super Bowl Xlviii would suffer a dip in ratings, the game in fact set another all-time viewership record. Per Fox Sports, the Seattle Seahawks' blowout victory over the Denver Broncos on Sunday (Feb. 2) averaged 111.5 million viewers, the biggest audience ever for a U.S. TV broadcast.
Sunday's telecast just beats the old record of 111.3 million set by Super Bowl Xlvi on NBC two years ago. Three of the past four Super Bowls have set a new all-time record, with the 2013 game (which drew "only" 108.7 million people) being the outlier.
Viewership peaked late in the first half and during the Bruno Mars-Red Hot Chili Peppers halftime show. Fox says Mars' performance drew 115.3 million viewers, surpassing the 114 million who tuned in to Madonna's performance in 2012.

The 2014 Super Bowl wasn't just about Seattle Seahawks, Denver Broncos or Bruno Mars—it was about the commercials, too! The biggest Super Bowl blowout in two decades had the biggest viewership ever, according to final numbers provided by Fox Sports.
Super Bowl Xlviii delivered an incredible 111.5 million viewers. That’s enough to rank Sunday’s game as the most-watched U.S. TV telecast of all time, edging out 2011′s previous record-holding game.
The 43-8 Seattle Seahawks victory drained some suspense from the annual telecast which analysts suspected would impact overall viewership. In fact, preliminary ratings early this morning suggested the game was down from last year. But in the final numbers, the Super Bowl once again set a new benchmark.

The Church of Scientology, which practices the belief system founded by L. Ron Hubbard and made famous by the likes of Tom Cruise and other Hollywood celebrities, aired a minute-long ad during Super Bowl Xlviii.
Scientology Super Bowl Commercial

The ad, though not created specifically for the Super Bowl, aired on various local stations in the United States during the Sunday evening broadcast.
Over the years, Scientology has come under fire repeatedly for its controversial practices, which includes auditing and labeling those who speak or act in opposition to it as Suppressive Persons, who must be shunned by those within the church.

Bruno Mars’ Super Bowl halftime performance was a bigger drumming than the game itself — with Mars on drums. Mars took MetLife Stadium’s 50-yard-line at the midway point of a Super Bowl Xlviii rout in favor of the Seattle Seahawks. After a children’s choir ran through the refrain to “Millionaire,” the camera cut to a skinny-tied and gold-blazered Mars, banging away on a drum kit fixated on a floating platform. It was a little early, perhaps, for a drum solo, but Mars was impressive on the skins before switching to the mic to transition into his hit “Locked Out of Heaven.

Bruno Mars delivered an energetic half-time performance tonight at Super Bowl Xlviii that recalled the glory days of Motown, while still sounding fresh and new. At 28, Mars is the youngest artist to headline a Super Bowl halftime by himself, according to his label (the Red Hot Chili Peppers counted as special guests). When he was first announced, there were some grumbles in the press that with only two albums behind him, he didn’t have the catalog, history, or experience to fill the bill. The critics were wrong…as anyone who has seen Mars in concert knows. He brought the same “best-episode-of-‘Soul-Train-that-you-ever-saw”...

So That’S what Jerry Seinfeld was talking about when he said a ‘Seinfeld’ reunion was happening! In a huge surprise, he and Jason Alexander went back to the famous Tom’s Restaurant to argue about nothing during halftime of Super Bowl Xlviii on Feb. 2.
It’s been a decade-plus since Seinfeld was on the air, so we were giddy when Jerry Seinfeld revealed on Jan. 30 that a reunion was inevitable. "It was fine. It was absolutely fine."
So said a smiling Erin Andrews to her colleagues as she introduced her pre-recorded interview with Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman -- who gave her quite a memorable moment after the Nfc championship game, ranting past her into the camera at San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree -- during Sunday's (Feb. 2) Fox pre-game show leading up to Super Bowl Xlviii.

First, let us dispense with the obvious.
Yes, Super Bowl Xlviii is being played at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., the first modern-era NFL championship game to be held outdoors in a cold-weather locale.
And yes, if it snows, rains, blows or ices, the people on the field and in the stands will get cold, wet and maybe even frozen. Passing games could be disrupted, and players' footing might not be great. Such is life when you hold a football game in February in the northern half of the country.
But if you're the people at Fox, which broadcasts the season-ending title game between the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, Feb. 2, you're also looking at this location as a tremendous opportunity. Tremendous in that you're using New York -- and all that entails -- as your backdrop, a rich canvas on which to work.

The halftime show for Super Bowl Xlviii will feature performances by Bruno Mars and The Red Hot Chili Peppers.

The musicians will have roughly 14 minutes to perform in New Jersey’s East Rutherford stadium during the 30-minute halftime.
Mars, to some, was a surprising choice for a Super Bowl halftime performer.
