The X-Men franchise has always had a special part in the hearts of fans of the superhero genre. Over the years, the mutants have become a symbol of inclusion, rightly so. The entire credit of bringing these fan-favorite comic characters to life goes to none other than filmmaker Bryan Singer who is responsible for films like X-Men and Days of Future Past.
A still from X-Men (2000)
However, before Bryan Singer could bring these films to the screen, writer Chris Claremont had a different idea about what an X-Men film should look like. In his dream film, he would have loved to have renowned filmmaker James Cameron as the producer. In fact, Chris Claremont had a completely different casting for both Wolverine and Storm in his mind.

I’ve got an amusing trailer here for a new short film called Fanboy. The Story centers around a video store employee who embarks on a journey from South Carolina to Hollywood to audition for the next big film from Sam Raimi, who is his favorite director.
The movie has a fun cast that includes Fran Kranz, J.K. Simmons, Sam Raimi, Matt Lanter and Ian Bohen. The film radiates the message of following your dreams no matter how big and crazy they might be.
As you know, lots of people from all over the world travel to Hollywood in hopes that they get their big break and become a big star. While there are plenty of success Hollywood stories, there are a lot more people out there still working their asses off to try and break into the business.
While Hollywood success stories don’t normally play out like how this movie portrays,...

Movie critic David Thomson recently published a book called “Moments That Made The Movies,” which consisted of 72 hand-picked (and highly personal) “moments” from across the span of cinema – moments that he believes have come to define the medium it its entirety. And you know what? Not a single superhero movie in the bunch! What’s wrong, Mr. Thomson? Don’t think The Avengers has the dramatic weight of something like Sunset Boulevard? That Heath Ledger’s Joker doesn’t compare to to all those Jack Nicholson movies you selected? Oh, you don’t?
Well, we do. Enough to make our own list, in fact. Here’s our picks for 20 Superhero Movie Moments That Were Impossible To Forget, assembled to celebrate what is – in this day and age, anyway – cinema’s most popular sub-genre. A moment doesn’t have to be good or bad to have made the list, of course...

There is a virus sweeping the boardrooms of film studios throughout Hollywood. It is a bitter, poisonous little blighter that sucks the joy and originality out of anything it touches. It is a self-serving, self-aware, tyrannical strain of social profiling. And it is quickly dominating the way in which films are conceived and made. It is eating away at filmmakers, and rapidly controlling the output of every major studio in modern cinema. It is known only as the ‘Fanboy’ plague.
In recent weeks, Fanboys have come under fire for their continual outcries against directors. These rabid moviegoers are baying for the blood of anyone who fails to meet their expectations of how certain characters should be “faithfully” depicted on film. Some even go so far as to claim that Hollywood is “mauling” their favourite characters and superheroes. ‘Man of Steel’ is the most current casualty of this. Does it really...

How awesome is New York? So awesome that we're willing to throw crumbs to podunk towns like San Diego once in a while. Sure, knock yourself out, have the world's biggest pop culture convention in the world, we'll be over here on the East Coast being awesome.
As it happens, we have our own little Comic-Con and it ain't exactly something to sneeze at. Held in the House that Graft Built (a.k.a the Jacob K. The numbers are in and "The Amazing Spider-Man" is a hit.
(Note, I am writing this about a week before "The Amazing Spider-Man" opens but, call me crazy, I'm pretty sure I'm making a correct assumption here.)
Now that Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone have thwipped their way into our hearts, what's next for Peter Parker, Gwen Stacy, New York City and that dude who stood in the shadows and said menacing things to Dr. Curt Connors?
Only time will tell, but, just in case the film's chief producers are reading (oh, who'm I kidding, they get a text every time I blow my nose) I've got five basic suggestions for the "Amazing Spider-Man" sequel.
Musical Director's Chairs
The fact that "The Amazing Spider-Man's" director Marc Webb hasn't said, "Yes, absolutely, I'm 100% on board for the sequel" means the dude isn't doing the sequel. I don't have any inside information on this,...

Tell me if this happens to you:

Now that we’ve all ogled Zoe Saldana’s goodies in the exploitation schlockfest Colombiana, the actress can step off of the publicity circuit and start work on something new. What’s that going to be? I’m glad you asked. According to THR Saldana is moving on a project called Dominion that’s something of a supernatural thriller. It’s about a creature that is a hybrid of an angel and a human, and Saldana seems to be perfect for the role because, well, she’s really pretty. Some might say angelic. It’s coming from a pitch by Dean McCreary and Chester Hastings, a relatively new-on-the-scene writing team who have credits in two upcoming films, one a familiar sounding thriller called You’re My Angel, and the other a film about a video store clerk who worships Sam Raimi called Fanboy. In a first for Saldana, this job will force her to rely on a...

Your suspicions were right! Zoe Saldana may actually be an angel. The Columbiana, Avatar, and Star Trek star is taking on a new supernatural thriller project with Paramount Pictures, entitled Dominion, where she plays a character whose heritage is both human and angelic.
THR reports that Dean McCreary and Chester Hastings are pitching the project to Paramount and Saldana will not only be starring in the picture, but also serve as a producer with Robbie Brenner (Machine Gun Preacher).
McCreary and Hastings have also written You’re My Angel which is in development with 4 Horsemen Films and a short film called Fanboy about “a video store employee who is the world’s biggest Sam Raimi fan.”
No hard details about the plot have been reveals as of yet, but keep it right here on SciFi Mafia for the latest news!

Oh, Zoe, with your beauty and on-screen presence, you never cease to impress us. You come across as a person who can do it all. Which is why we're not in the least bit surprised to hear you were going to produce as well as star in the upcoming project Dominion.
With her new film Colombiana hitting theaters this weekend, it's been announced that Saldana will team with Robbie Brenner (currently producing Machine Gun Preacher with Gerard Butler) to co-produce a supernatural thriller entitled Dominion, in which she will star as a half-human, half-angel. And looking at Zoe, we're sure this one will come easy to her.
Dominion was pitched by Dean McCreary and Chester Hastings, who recently wrote a thriller entitled You're My Angel, currently in production by 4 Horsemen Films, as well as a short entitled Fanboy, which features cameos by Sam Raimi and Jk Simmons.
More as it comes.

Zoe Saldana will soon be spreading her wings.
Somewhat literally, actually, as the "Avatar" star will be playing a half-human, half-angel in the supernatural thriller, "Dominion," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Paramount bought the "Dominion" pitch from screenwriters Dean McCreary and Chester Hastings, who are somewhat familiar with the whole "angel" theme, having written "You're My Angel," another thriller that's currently in development.
The writing duo also penned "Fanboy," a short film about a video store clerk who's the self-proclaimed biggest Sam Raimi fan on the planet. J.K. Simmons, who played J. Jonah Jameson in Raimi's "Spider-Man" movies, and Raimi himself make appearances.
Um... and where can we see this short film?

Zoe Saldana will also be co-producing "Dominion," which is probably still a ways off from an official start date, pending the actual writing of the script.

Is Zoe Saldana going to be one of those talented actresses who gets roles that are below her level until her once budding career is wasted away in one genre film after another? These may seem like harsh words, but after Saldana's great turn in 'Avatar,' we were looking for her to get much more challenging roles. Instead, she's been under-used in 'The Losers,' 'Takers' and this weekend's 'Colombiana' ('Colombiana' has been drubbed by the critics -- getting a 33 percent rating at Rotten Tomatoes, but the reviewers love the actress).
So pardon us if we don't applaud the news (via The Hollywood Reporter) that Saldana has set up the supernatural thriller 'Dominion' -- about a woman (Saldana) who is half-human, half-angel -- at Paramount. Saldana will also produce. Right now the project is in pitch form from Dean McCreary...

After three films, fans will finally be seeing Dr. Curt Connors (Rhys Ifans) turn into The Lizard (Albeit in a reboot of the series). What we haven’t heard is how the character will be handled in the movie. Neither of the villains in Sam Raimi’s trilogy were exactly as they were in the comics, but this reboot is said to be taking a different route. However, Big Fanboy has reportedly got hold of some Possible Spoilers that give a new twist on the character.
