Interesting literature animation

And you don't even have to be a man of vast reading to enjoy this 6 minutes (including credits). If you know the very basic story of Macbeth, Dracula and Moby Dick, you're in for a good time. In this short film, famous (music video) director Spike Jonze enters the territory of animation for the first time by co-directing the film with Simon Cahn. Just like in "Night at the Museum", wait until the lights go out and the action starts at the bookstore as well. The skeleton from MacBeth spots Mina Harker in his neighborhood and, after some distinct gestures from her, leaves his book in order to see her while looking forward to an amorous tête-à-tête. Sadly, occurrences on the way result in him losing his head. Still Mina obviously fell for the charming skeleton and quickly comes to his rescue. When the end credits come in a couple minutes later, the two had quite a journey behind them and we get to see a raunchy act.

I enjoyed this one. It's pretty smart just like most of Jonze's work and I'd certainly recommend it to animation lovers and bookworms.

To die by your side

A charming little cut-out stop motion animated, with some reminiscences to the Daffy Duck short "Book Revenue".

The mixture of a whimsical plot with some rather raunchy humor is not something many directors would be able to pull off succesfully, but it works here.

Funny bones. An excellent animation with genuine humour and something we have never seen before
