So the Fifth Column gang has finally figured out something very important about the Concordia project: it's not about harnessing Blue Energy to help mankind, it's about creating docking stations for more V motherships, 538 of them to be exact.
Anna has announced that they're breaking ground around the world and Chad and Carrie report on it. While he plays the part of the loyal V supporter his co-anchor Carrie is more openly suspicious.
The FC gang now know the Vs are planning a full scale invasion, which is why interbreeding is so important to them. And when they check out the night sky with some handy-dandy infrared binoculars of Sid's-- who makes the discovery-- they can see that the ships are already here. So the plan is to sabotage the Blue Energy reactor in New York City to cause a Three Mile Island-type public scare and outcry big enough to shut down all the reactors across the globe. (Erica and Hobbes have a brief discussion about their dalliance the night before but she dismisses it as a "break" from the current madness, which now requires her complete focus).
Since Lisa was able to pilfer some Blue Energy from the ship-- which helps Sid figure out the plan-- Sid takes it to the New York site prepared to mess it up. The only problem is there are two types of Blue Energy, inert and weaponized. When Lisa confides in Diana what the FC is planning to do, Diana tells her to stop them immediately because if the Blue Energy they're using has been weaponized and it interacts with the Blue Energy of the reactor it could cause an explosion that could wipe out everything within 100 square miles. When Lisa can't reach Erica to stop the plan she calls Ryan, who has been stalking just about everyone to keep abreast of what's going on. He rushes into the reactor room with Jack, Hobbes, and Erica hot on his tail and tries to keep Sid from doing the deed. When everyone is assembled and shouting Ryan explains the potential for catastrophe and Erica has him shut the reactor down. Unfortunately, the ensuing mess shuts down the power to most of NYC. Anna seizes the opportunity and has a newly recovered Marcus restore power using Blue Energy, so instead of looking like the cause of the problem, the Vs look like they fixed it quickly. Erica is incensed by the reporting of this news and its image of victory for Anna.
Aboard the ship Diana summons Marcus who is clearly stunned to see his former queen alive but is not so sure which queen he should follow. Diana says she should follow him and that Anna is too dangerous, that trying to erase the human soul is folly and that their species is too important to mess around with. Marcus is unsure but says he must tell Anna that he saw her. He never does though. Later, however, he does see Anna exhibit a human emotion. When Ryan's daughter, the rapidly aging Amy, comes to her and places her hands on Anna's head as if she's blissing her, Anna asks what she's doing. She says she's making her feel better, just like Anna does for her. When asked why, Amy says "because I love you." This softens Anna and makes her hug Amy to her chest. After being instructed by Anna that Carrie's negative reporting was a threat to the V-human alliance, Chad sabotages her by telling her that he heard from a source that the Vs caused the blackout. He says he can't report it and anger Anna but that she should. This is of course bad intel and Carrie gets fired, she gives Chad a nice slap in the face and calls him a snake on her way out of the newsroom. (This of course solves several problems for Chad: he appears to be appeasing Anna, he got at least a whisper out that the Vs caused the problem, and he gets his show back to himself.)
In the midst of all this Anna discovers that she has the ability to bliss humans, something previously unheard of. It takes a lot out of her and causes her eyes to bleed but she can do it, meaning that she can control humans which will make her plans go much more smoothly. When Lisa walks in on Anna blissing Tyler she is devastated as is Erica. He had just been reaching out to his mother again in the wake of his father's death, but now he appears firmly under Anna's control.
Diana instructs Lisa to team up with the FC humans because time is running short to save everyone. After she returns the Blue Energy she nicked from the ship before being detected she runs into Joshua who has had a shocking epiphany-- he remembers his previous life as a FC operative on the inside and all the things he did, including helping Lisa. He tells her he is back on her side.
After Lisa goes to Erica to broke the news about Tyler, the two of them join forces with Ryan to go to the FC headquarters to devise a new plan. Initially, Jack, Sid, Hobbes, and Chad are reluctant to take on Ryan, who they see as a traitor, but Erica says while she neither likes or forgives him for his past transgressions, they need him to win this war. Then Lisa puts down one of the V video communicators and unveils a hologram of Diana saying the time has come for them all to team up to save humanity.
