- Spanning the entire career of death metal's biggest and most controversial band.
- Centuries of Torment is direct-to-video DVD that provides an oral history of the death metal band Cannibal Corpse. The documentary is primarily composed of interviews with band members, past and present, record company representatives, crew members, friends, relatives and some of the band's many fans.
Following the introduction, the film traces the band's history from their beginnings in the Buffalo, NY heavy metal scene when the original five members -- Chris Barnes, Paul Mazurkiewicz, Jack Owen, Bob Rusay & Alex Webster -- all played in various bands in the Western New York state area and decided to join up to form Cannibal Corpse. Interviewees also talk about the recording of their first demo tape & the recording of all their albums up to 2006's Kill.
The band members also recount the many lineup changes the group has gone through, with past members either being asked to leave the group or leaving of their own accord, and the various producers and technicians they've worked with through 20 years and 10 studio albums (2006's Kill).
Additional interviews include music promoters from the Buffalo area who gave the band their first gigs and executives at their recording label, Metal Blade Records, who first signed the band in 1990. Bands and band members that Cannibal Corpse have toured with also have a chance to share their own experiences with the band.
Two additional DVDs provide live video of performances throughout the band's history and additional footage of the band that was not included in the history. The band members talk about working together, their personalities and quirks, stories from the road while touring, the band's notoriously gory album covers, merchandise owned by their fans, tattoos honoring the group and a brief segment about efforts to publicly criticize and censure the group's lyrics.
