Warning: Spoilers
A nice episode with some Lacrosse match action and new events in the storyline, the serie doesn't blow me away by now but it shows it's potential to be a great show.

Uneven but has promise

The topic of a misfit who has some abilities that separates him from the pack is evergreen for TV plots. In this case lycanthropy is the kid's gift/affliction and it has potential. IF the writers, actors and directors can avoid the obvious pitfalls.

There's been talk that this is too far from the Teen Wolf movies. Good! In my opinion you can't get too far away from them. The comedy of these situations can be milked if done intelligently without a broad a comic approach as those films.

There's talk both pro and con that this series is a rip off of the Teen Wolf movies or worse, a rip off of the Twilight story. These comments are short sighted. Cinematic werewolves have been around since Lon Chaney and even Michael Landon had a crack at the Teen Wolf concept. If this series can manage to focus on the human aspects of the problems that not being entirely human creates while reveling in the opportunities that it presents this could be a big success.

One BIG misstep in my opinion is in the acting of the Lacrosse coach. He's too far over the top and pretty much ruins (for me at least) every scene that he's in. Also there's the discontinuity of Derek having a helpful attitude at the end of episode one and having a murderous attitude at the beginning of episode two. In my opinion he should remain on the supportive side and any variations from that should be well and truly motivated. Finally there should have been some foreshadowing as to the true nature of his relationship with the dead girl.
