Renowned culinary experts (or at least good looking celebrity chefs) Cat Cora and Curtis Stone will host Bravo's latest cooking reality program, Around the World in 80 Plates, when it premieres later this spring. The show will follow twelve chefs across ten countries in 44 days. Sounds like The Amazing Race, but with a culinary component?
Cora is probably best known as an Iron Chef on Iron Chef America. Stone hosts of Top Chef: Masters and served as a judge on the ill-fated America's Next Great Restaurant. He seems to be doing quite well though.

They're the men who bring a reality TV program together for us. They tell us what's happening in an episode, they interview the competitors and they keep the action moving. A good idea for a reality show isn't complete until it finds the right host, and its even better when that host is a sexy man who can charm us with his looks and his personality. Here are some of the sexy reality show hosts who have most grabbed our attention.
Steve Jones, The X-Factor
Steve Jones as a sexy handyman in Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging
Steve Jones may be a familiar face to UK viewers, but audiences in the U.S. are just starting to get to know him thanks to Fox's version of The X-Factor. The tall, dark and handsome Welsh presenter isn't shy about showing off his body, like when he re-created Daniel Radcliffe's Equus photos.

The saga of America's Next Great Restaurant's not-so-great end continues as Chipotle is getting the blame for killing Soul Daddy, which closed its third and final restaurant in June. Earlier this month, TMZ claimed that winner Jamawn Woods said Chipotle was to blame, although he wasn't actually quoted in their post, which did more to prove that no one at TMZ knows how to use ellipses or em dashes. But host and judge Bobby Flay...

We recently reported that two of the three locations for Soul Daddy, the restaurant concept which won America's Next Great Restaurant, had closed after only a few weeks. Word was that all of the resources were being shifted to support the remaining restaurant in Minneapolis. Now this last location has closed as well.
A PR statement reads, "This was a difficult decision for us, as we wanted to see Soul Daddy succeed, but the restaurant simply was not performing as we had hoped. We'd like to thank all of the customers who tried our restaurants and the people who worked hard to try to make the restaurants succeed."
According to Portfolio's estimates, the failure cost more than $3 million. Chipolte Corp. put in about $2.3 million. Chipotle founder Steve Ells and his fellow judges/investors Bobby Flay, Lorena Garcia, and Curtis Stone supposedly contributed $220,000...

One of the greatest mysteries of America's Next Great Restaurant is exactly how much money the show's four judges actually invested in the restaurant, Soul Daddy, which just closed its final location after just two months. If Bobby Flay, Curtis Stone, and Lorena Garcia all invested the same amount of money as Chipotle founder Steve Ells, the answer is $220,000. Along with that, Chipotle gave $2.3 million to be the show's prize sponsor, meaning the...

NBC's recent reality series, America's Next Great Restaurant, wasn't a success in the ratings and was cancelled after one season. Fortunately, the TV series lasted long enough to to see a winner crowned on May 1st.
Jamawn Woods, the owner of a small Detroit catering business, won with his concept for a healthy soul food restaurant called Soul Daddy. We were big fans of the recent reality TV show America's Next Great Restaurant and were sad to see it end this past Sunday. But the best thing about the series is, it's the gift that keeps on giving. Because at the end of the road the winner received a restaurant chain with three locations, New York, Minneapolis and right here in Los Angeles. And so even before we knew who took top prize, we planned a pilgrimage to the eatery's opening day festivities on Monday morning.
It turns out our top choice was also the favorite of the judges — Bobby Flay, Curtis Stone, Lorena Garcia and Steve Ells. Soul Daddy was triumphant over Spice Coast and the Brooklyn Meatball Company. "America's Next Great Restaurant" has crowned its first ever winner, Jamawn Woods. The reality show by NBC which is a cross between "The Apprentice" and "Top Chef" named Woods' restaurant Soul Daddy as the winner of first season on Sunday, May 1 finale.
Soul Daddy beat Brooklyn Meatball Company and Spice Coast in the final challenge which was made ala "Hell's Kitchen". The finalists were tested with actual diners giving reviews on their meals. Before the soft opening, the restaurateurs were to meet architects to discuss the dining area and design the company's logos.
The judges, including Bobby Flay, Curtis Stone, Steve Ells, and Lorena Garcia, agreed that Soul Daddy's concept of healthy soul food was a success. They thought Spice Coast's concept was too similar to Chipotle Mexican Grill, and Brooklyn Meatball Company made them wait too long for their food, causing a backup.
"This is definitely the biggest moment of my life.

It was between the Brooklyn Meatball Company, Soul Daddy and Spice Coast for the title of "America's Next Great Restaurant" on Sunday, May 1. So who went home with the title and the chance to run a three-location chain of restaurants?
That would be Jamawn Woods and his concept Soul Daddy, which specializes in healthy soul food. The investing team -- which is made up of Bobby Flay, Curtis Stone, Steve Ells and Lorena Garcia -- chose Soul Daddy as Spice Coast was pretty similar to Chipotle (Ells' company) and Brooklyn Meatball Company's service was backed up over an hour during the final challenge.
The final challenge kind of resembled "Top Chef's" restaurant wars with each contestant developing a soft open for their concept restaurant. The contestants met with arthitects to design the eating space and graphic designers for their logos. Several hundred customers tried out the food.

Many TV critics have already harped on the American Idol judges this season. Their refrain: J.Lo, Steven and Randy are nothing more than paid cheerleaders, incapable of criticism. In their eyes, all of the Top 13 contestants were winners, and their performances have deserved nothing worse than a "that was kind of pitchy."

Never let it be said that Bravo is resting on their laurels when it comes to the 'Top Chef' franchise. Just a week after 'Top Chef All-Stars' wrapped, here comes 'Top Chef Masters.' This is the third season, and the producers have revamped the concept dramatically.
The new host is Aussie chef Curtis Stone, who's also on NBC's 'America's Next Great Restaurant,' so either he's totally determined to be a star, or somebody at NBC Universal is invested in his success.

In watching tonight's season premiere of Top Chef Masters, the haute cuisine culinary competition series that spun out of Top Chef a few seasons back, it's easy to get a sense of what's been lost rather than what's been gained by the format changes. (The latter can be summed up in two words: Ruth Reichl.) Gone is Kelly Choi, she of the perfectly coiffed mane. Gone is the complicated but novel star-based ratings system. Gone are the early heats. What remains is rather like Top Chef. Or exactly like Top Chef, in fact, save for the experience of the master chefs competing here and the fact that their winnings go to the charities of their choice rather than into bankrolling a restaurant. Choi has been replaced by suddenly ubiquitous Aussie chef Curtis Stone, yanked onto the cable channel while still appearing on NBC's America's Next Great Restaurant. He's affable enough...

On 'America's Next Great Restaurant,' part of Bobby Flay's job is to judge contestant concepts for new restaurants. Flay was on 'Rachael Ray' (weekdays, syndicated) today to talk about some of the best, worst, and craziest ideas he came across on the show.
"One guy wanted to open a gun shop and cafe," he told Ray. "Which, honestly, I just couldn't see rolling out a thousand of those." Another guy, he said, wanted to do a male version of Hooters, which was well-received by the audience but a concept Flay couldn't bear to see. "I didn't want to see the audition process for the employees," he said. "I do have an ego."
He did not mention what the name for that restaurant would be, so we'll leave it to you to fill in the appropriate food/sex double entendre.
