John flies back to Smallville and finds Nat making breakfast with difficulty. They go over to help Lana with her mayoral campaign on election day, getting out voters, and after applauding everyone gets back to work. Lois and her sons arrive, and Lois tells Lana that Clark is still on assignment in Metropolis. A woman, Barb Dodge, tells Jon that he should be ashamed of himself for getting the football season canceled. Another man agrees with Barb, and says that a lot of people agree with her. Sarah talks to Jordan privately and asks if everything is okay. Jordan excuses himself to deal with an emergency he's heard with super-hearing, and flies out to deal with a fire that Kyle and his people are dealing with. Kyle insists that he can handle it, and the fire forms a vortex.
Sarah is talking with Nat, who sees John talking to Lana. Nat abruptly walks out.
The fire explodes, knocking Kyle back and unconscious. Jordan puts out the flames with his ice breath and flies the unconscious Kyle out, jumping through a wall. John arrives in his suit and tells Jordan to go, and then fights the fire.
Sarah finds Nat looking at a photo on her phone of her mother, and says that she's disgusted that her father is flirting with Sarah's mother. Nat says that it's the anniversary of her mother's death, and John hasn't even noticed. She wanted to do something to remember her Lois, and Sarah suggests they make an altar like she does for Dia de los Muertes for her grandfather. Nat agrees, but refuses to give Sarah her photo of her mother and goes off to find John. When she can't find him, Nat asks Lois to take her home.
The Cushings get called to the hospital where Kyle is having a checkup after the incident. He says that he asked the staff not to call his family. Lana says that she has to go back to the hall, and Kyle tells his daughters that he's going to stop by the apartment to clean up, and they should spend time with Lana.
Jordan returns home and tells Jon about the fire and that he flew, and Jon advises him to tell Lois about his "secret identity". Jon then says that he doesn't know how to fix things, or if he'll have the chance. He then walks off.
At the garage, John is analyzing a sample of XK from the fire that was causing its strange behavior when Nat storms past him and into her room. Lois comes in and says that Nat wouldn't talk to her about what's bothering her, but she seemed upset. John realizes that it his wife's death's anniversary, and he completely forgot. He figures that Nat has a right to tell him, and Lois tells him to talk to her. Before Lois goes, John tells her about Jordan.
Lois goes home and tells Jordan that she already knows, and is angry at him. Jordan says that \he couldn't let Kyle die, and that John was late and he saved Kyle. Lois tells Jordan that he's not a superhero, and then snaps that Clark might not be coming back. He tells his mother that Sam has been training him, and he doesn't need her permission to be a superhero because he has superpowers.
John talks to Nat about how he forgot what the day was. Nat isn't impressed, and John says that he's trying to move on and obsessing about his wife's memory twisted him into someone else. When his daughter says that he doesn't get to forget their Lois, John tells Nat that he'll never forget his wife. Nat says that they have their life because of their Lois, and she doesn't want a father who would forget that.

She goes in and bandages his wound, and he says this apartment is unfurnished because he plans to find someone better. Sarah says that she wants to make sure he's okay, and Kyle insists that he is. With that, Sarah leaves.
Lois goes to check out the fire site, and finds Sam there with his people. She snaps at her father because he's been training Jordan behind her back, and admits she can't handle being a single parent. Sam assures her that Clark will be back, and they find a vial of XK and figures it's a manufacturing plant. Lois and Sam go to the Kent home and confront Jon, and Sam says he'll protect Jon's friend with DoD resources. Jon finally gives in and goes to call Candice.
At the hall where Lana is set up, Sarah talks to Lana about Kyle. She wonders if Kyle could stay with them, and Lana says that it's the wrong message to send and it's Kyle's life. Lana insists that Kyle made his choices and has to live with them, and Sarah shouldn't get involved.
Lois confronts Jordan and Sam about Sam training Jordan, and Jordan says that he has to be ready. Jon comes in and makes sure his friend will be anonymous, and then brings Candice in. They sit down in the kitchen to talk, and Candice says that she doesn't know much. She says that she got the canisters from Jaroux, and her father has a heart condition and they're broke. Lois and Sam both promise they'll protect Candice, and she tells them where Jaroux distributes the canisters. After Lois says that she can work with the information about the location, Jon walks Candice home.

That night, Lois, Sam, and Jordan drive to the barn where Jaroux is distributing the XK. Jordan can't hear clearly what's going on because of a leaking pipe, and his x-ray vision hasn't come in yet. Lois spots some new crates nearby, and tells Jordan to stay in the car, while she and Sam take a closer look to make sure someone is there. They peer in the window and see a whole operation, and Lois snaps photos. A scumbag with superpowers from the XK confronts them and says they're not going anywhere.
At the election hall, Sarah tells Lana that she's done everything she can. Sarah points out that people came to support Lana, and Emily comes over and says the results in, and the election board is going to announce the winner.
The sentry ties up Lois and Sam, and Sam figures they need to "activate" Jordan. Lois reluctantly agrees and calls to Jordan, who hears her with his super-hearing. Sam calls out a description of the interior of the building, as a thug comes over and prepares to shoot Sam. Jordan arrives and uses his heat vision on the thug's gun, then freezes and punches him unconscious. The other workers run, and Jordan starts to free Sam and Lois. Another guard uses his heat vision on Jordan, who easily dodges it with his superspeed and punches the man unconscious as Sam nods in approval.
At the hall, a phone call comes in from the board with the election results. Emily takes the call, and then tells Lana that she won. Everyone applauds as Lana hugs her daughters. Lana gives an acceptance speech to her supporters and opens a bottle of champagne. Lois, Jordan, and Sam come in and Jordan goes to find Sarah. Sam gets a call from his team sweeping the warehouse, but Lois figures someone is financing the operation. Her father tells her that they'll deal with it, and Lana comes over with a glass of champagne for Lois.
Sarah is by herself playing the piano when Jordan finds her. He says that he was dealing with "family stuff" but can't talk to her about it. He apologizes, and Sarah asks if he's ever going to put her first. She says that he keeps shutting her out, and it's an important day for her and she wanted to share it with him but he wasn't there. Sarah tells Jordan that she's breaking up with him and walks away.
Nat returns home and finds John making breakfast like Lois did. He says that Nat was right and the pain isn't a reason to forget about Lois. He plays the video of Lois with a baby Nat, and Nat sits with John and watches. John tells Nat that he'll never forget his wife because he sees her in Nat, and they hug.
Sarah goes to see Kyle and tells her father that she thought her father could use some company and she could as well. She tells Kyle that she broke up with Jordan, and Kyle hugs her. He says that he did what she had to, and they'll figure the next day what comes next for both of them.
As Jon and Candice walk to Candice's home, she says that she's glad that she doesn't have to keep secrets anymore. Jon figures they can spend more time on the two of them, and has a ringing in his ears. Candice suggests that he should go home, and Jon agrees and head home.
Lois finds Jordan brooding on the porch, and he tells her that Sarah broke up with him. She points out that he did save his mother's life, and admits that it's hard to watch Jordan and Jon grow up. Lois tells Jordan that she's proud of the hero Jordan is becoming, and so is Clark. Someone with Jon's form walks up, and tells them that Superman was too late.
In the other world, Superman stares up at something.
