End of episode - contrived beyond belief
miketraversdc12 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I found the subplot about the oil lawsuit a welcome bit of lighthearted fun, particularly the characterizations of Hugo Chavez (Carlos Ferro) and his lead attorney (Fred Thompson).

However, the ending was such a contrived disappointment. So Andrew Wiley, former attorney on the Innocence Project, professional investigator, etc., is going to traipse into the somewhat dressy election return watch party and celebration, Columbo-like, in his hoodie, to do the old 'just one more thing, Mrs. Florrick' bit. After being told by Alicia earlier in the day to bug off, lest she file a harassment complaint, Investigator Wiley found it both wise and necessary to leave his kids/family after normal business hours, crash the celebration, just to tell Alicia that there is nothing to worry about. Oh, please!!!

[7.4] The person who didn't exist

Warning: Spoilers
Episode 20: An average to semi-good episode with some matters of interest in it, just barely, centered on "issues" out of court mostly (more interesting ones in the court in my opinion), surrounding plots & sub-plots with good acting this time by near everybody of the team and a gaunt truth dawning on Alicia in the end.

This Episode: Where is the Victor? **1/2

Warning: Spoilers
This episode was quite muddled to say the least. There is a suit at Lockhart-Gardner about oil drilling and then Cesar Chavez, dictator of Venezuela, nationalizes the company and supposedly speaks at the various depositions given. You really don't know what this is really all about and frankly you couldn't care less. Former actor turned former Senator and Presidential candidate in 2008, Fred Thompson guest starred. I have news for you. Just like his glib run for the presidency in 2008, his performance here left a lot to be desired as well.

It's also election time. Despite winning, Peter Florrick (Chris Noth) does not appear. Is he already on summer hiatus? Guess what Alicia discovers just when the election is called for Florrick?

Fred Thompson

The prism of time has not been kind to the despicable decision to normalize Lou Dobbs and now Fred Thompson. Did I already say despicable? Great show, smart performers, writers, etc. Clearly these vacuous hacks were forced upon the production team by moneyed interests. Disgusting.
