This post contains spoilers for "Loki" season 2.
"Deadpool 3" — or rather, "Deadpool & Wolverine" — dropped its first trailer during Super Bowl Lviii and confirmed that Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) will be journeying deep into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Specifically, on the ground first tread by the Disney+ series "Loki," which wrapped its second season last year.
When Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox went through, the expectation (at least for most folks) was that the old "X-Men" films would be wiped away in a blank slate reboot. However, the MCU has since been pulling from those previously unconnected X-movies; clearly, Marvel Studios would prefer to bank on audience familiarity with Fox's X-Men. Patrick Stewart showed up in "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness" as Professor X and Kelsey Grammer cameoed as Beast in the post-credit scene of "The Marvels." Whether or not these were the original characters or unique...

Sometimes, you have too many irons in the fire and must take one out and let it cool. According to Deadline, Shang-Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton is no longer helming Avengers: The Kang Dynasty for Marvel Studios. Deadline says they hear Cretton’s exit is amicable, with the in-demand filmmaker remaining in the Marvel family for Wonder Man and Shang-Chi 2. Thankfully, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is years away from hitting theaters, giving Marvel ample time to reassign the Infinity War-level project to another director. Avengers: The Kang Dynasty releases on May 1, 2026, setting up Avengers: Secret Wars for May 7, 2027. The two event-driven films end the MCU’s Phase 6 timeline.
Cretton remains a creative force on Marvel Studios’ Wonder Man, which he co-created with Andrew Guest, who serves as showrunner. Cretton executive produces Wonder Man, starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams, aka Wonder Man. Filming for the Disney+ series falls under...

For the first three phases, the Marvel Cinematic Universe seemed to be bulletproof. Even when a wrench was thrown into the machine, and Marvel Studios had to recast for someone like Edward Norton or replace a director like Edgar Wright, Kevin Feige’s ultimate vision would keep the train from derailing. The studio’s bubble is currently expanding to the point that many feel it will burst from the tension. One of the biggest hurdles going forward is how the studio plans to handle actor Jonathan Majors in his role as Kang the Conqueror. Majors’ ongoing controversy and a lingering trial, which will either convict or release the actor of domestic abuse charges, is casting an unforeseen shadow on the future of the multiverse era.
Many have been waiting to see what Marvel decides to do with either the Kang character or Majors in the role. Some think they can...

Loki producer Eric Martin "100%" confirmed a huge He Who Remains secret that has been tied to the Tva and its agents.
Loki Season 2 explored more of the inner workings of the Tva like never before. Episode 4 unpacked more of the relationship between He Who Remains and Ravonna Renslayer, indicating that they worked together to win the Multiversal War.
It was also revealed that He Who Remains erased Renslayer's memories, strongly implying that this was the beginning of the Kang Variant's transition to the Tva facade.

Do decisions governed by prejudice make way for determinism, or is it the other way around? Disney+’s best live action series, Loki presented this discourse in its first season, and has successfully held onto it as it progresses to the midway point of the second one. The team makes yet another journey back in time, and this one is a rather significant one in MCU timeline given the fact we are finally introduced to one of He Who Remains’ variants – Victor Timely.
In the previous episode, we learned that O.B was unable to fix the instability in the Temporal Loom, as it required the Temporal aura of the person who designed Tva in the first place – He Who Remains. In his absence, Miss Minutes’ presence would have sufficed, but she has been missing since the season finale of last season, as is the rogue Judge Ravonna Renslayer, and...

Warning: This article contains spoilers for the latest episode of "Loki."
To this point in "Loki" season 2, it's felt easier than expected to compartmentalize the series -- not just from connections to the greater Marvel Cinematic Universe, but also from the disturbing criminal allegations surrounding actor Jonathan Majors. Until episode 3, any trace of the villainous He Who Remains has been limited to foreboding statues at the Time Variance Authority. The opening shot of the entire season awkwardly opened on a close-up of this very image, in fact, which seemed to confirm previous statements that no reshoots took place following Majors' arrest. Otherwise, any trace of Kang's presence has remained hidden behind the curtain.
That all changed with this latest episode, however. Desperate to put the malfunctioning Tva back in order, Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Mobius (Owen Wilson) follow the breadcrumbs left by Ravonna Renslayer (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) all the way...

Not only did Tom Hiddleston play different versions of the God of Mischief in Loki Season 1, but he almost played a Kang the Conqueror Variant.
The final episode of Loki's first season on Disney+ featured the introduction of He Who Remains, the McU's first - but not the last - Variant of Kang, played by Jonathan Majors.
Following Kang's return in Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania and the fallout of He Who Remains' Season 1 death in Loki Season 2, fans are now learning that Tom Hiddleston was once considered to play the man at the end of time.

Loki and Mobius hit the darkened streets of the Sacred Timeline in episode two of Marvel’s Loki, as they attempt to track down Sylvie by tracing the movements of a Tva deserter.
X-5 (rapper and Blindspotting star Rafael Casal) has made quite the life for himself on Earth in the 1970s as Hollywood A-lister Brad Wolfe, and it’s one that he really doesn’t want to give up, so Mobius and Loki have to give chase like proper magic time cops at the premiere of his new movie, Zaniac.
Also refreshing is Casal as the arrogant X-5 aka Brad, and his “mummy’s boy” attitude makes him supremely punchable. When Loki and Mobius finally haul his ass back to the Tva, it creates an interesting dynamic in the interrogation room. Mobius assumes that the sneering, entitled X-5 will easily be able to push Loki’s buttons,...

Warning: the following interview contains spoilers about tonight’s first episode of season 2 of Loki
After Loki’s amiga Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) opted to kill He Who Remains (Jonathan Majors) spurring multiple nefarious versions of the newbie villain across several timelines, Loki was sent back to where it all started: the bureaucratic, office grind of the Tva — but a very different one; one where his new best friend Mobius (Owen Wilson) doesn’t recognize him. Out of touch with his soulmate, Loki is trying to find his way back to her. However, like Chicken Little, he’s trying to tell everybody that the sky is falling; that Kang the Conqueror is coming their way. We talk with Marvel executive and Loki season 2 EP Kevin Wright, who is with the series from start to finish, script to post, about the daunting task of living up to what was a spectacular season one.

In Doctor Who, the phrase “wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff” has become synonymous with both the nature of time itself — short version: time is a nonlinear mess — and how woefully inadequate our layperson’s vocabulary is when it comes to blathering about time.
Whether you generally understand the intricacies of time and time travel but can’t formally express them, or your head immediately starts to explode the second somebody mentions killing Baby Hitler, it’s simpler to attribute temporal circumstances to “wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff” than pretend you’re Neil deGrasse Tyson.
The handiness of the phrase came to mind more than a few times while I watched the second season of Disney+’s Loki, on which the creative team has absolutely succeeded in using Marvel’s money to make a wildly expensive season of Doctor Who featuring Tom Hiddleston as the Doctor. It’s such a perfectly...

Marvel’s multiverse has been turning out variants of all shapes and sizes over the last several years. But could anything have prepared us for Loki: The Hero?
In Season 2 of the MCU’s most popular Disney+ series “Loki,” Tom Hiddleston’s Norse God of Mischief is all about saving his new friends at the Time Variance Authority from annihilation, along with billions who reside on ever multiplying timelines throughout the cosmos. Hiddleston, who’s played one of the most malign forces in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for a dozen years, convinces us of Loki’s newfound altruism, only referencing his evil past in soul-searching conversations and using it as a threat when doing good cop/bad cop routines with his new best bud, Tva functionary Mobius (Owen Wilson).
This makeover should not work but it does, along with everything else in the first four episodes of Season 2’s six shown to critics.

For this month’s installment of “TV Terrors” we revisit the horror reality special “Can You Survive a Horror Movie?” which aired on Chiller TV for Friday the 13th in July 2012.
By the early aughts, the horror cable network Chiller TV had reached the point to where they were trotting out their own original series’ and movies. Among them was their heavily advertised attempt at a reality series entitled “Can You Survive a Horror Movie?” The premise of the one off special was essentially “Fear Factor” and “Mythbusters” mixed with a hard shot of horror. The hosts would not only test certain situations in the horror genre, but also partook in “challenges” related to horror movies. It didn’t actually dissect the genre, or bring it down to reality as much as, say, “The Zombie Survival Guide.” Instead, it was unabashedly a horror reality show.

With the Technical Test for The Texas Chain Saw Massacre just a week away, and to go along with the release of the “Lo-fi Leatherface” Youtube channel, Gun Interactive has released to digital streaming services the Official Soundtrack to The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. ‘All Quiet on the Western Front’: Everything to know about Volker Bertelmann’s Oscar-nominated score
Edward Berger‘s WWI anti-war drama “All Quiet on the Western Front” is a feast for the eyes and ears, which is one of the reasons why it has received nine total Oscar nominations for Netflix. One of those bids is for Volker Bertelmann‘s original score. By design, the composition doesn’t sound like anything else you hear accompanying similar Hollywood war movie spectacles. There’s certainly a bombastic aspect to how that music drives home the brutal battlefield action, but much of the sounds seemingly come from alien worlds rather than the traditional orchestral accompaniment.
For instance, there’s a recurring three-note motif Bertelmann played on his great-grandmother’s period-appropriate 100-year-old harmonium, which you can hear quite vividly on the cue the composer called “Ludwig,” after one of Germany’s most famous composers.
This theme, used more than 40 times through the film, including 20 times in its purest form,...

"Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania" is a rollicking film that sends viewers into the heart of the Quantum Realm, which is full of mysteries and never-before-seen sights. Scott Lang (Paul Rudd), his daughter, Cassie, (Kathryn Newton), Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly), and her mom, Janet (Michelle Pfeiffer), face off against Jonathan Majors's Kang the Conqueror, and they come out on the other side. However, the movie's two end-credits scenes prove that victory isn't so sweet, and the war against Kang - and his many, many variants - is only just beginning. Let's break them down.
"Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania" First End-Credits Scene: The Council of Kang Variants
The first after-credits scene features a conversation between a couple of different characters played by Majors. None of them are exactly Kang - they're all variants. One of them is Rama-Tut, a Kang variant from a 1963 run of Fantastic Four comics.

Jonathan Majors has incredible range. Making waves for his performance in "The Last Black Man in San Fransico," Majors would dip his toe in various genres — from the horror show "Lovecraft Country" to the Western film "The Harder They Fall" — demonstrating his versatility as an actor. Most recently, /Film's own Chris Evangelista called him "phenomenal" in the Sundance selected "Magazine Dreams." Thankfully, 2023 will be as busy a year for the actor as 2022 was. Majors is attached to two tentpole releases in February and March, respectively, first as the villain in "Ant-Man & the Wasp: Quantumania" and then trading blows with Michael B. Jordan in "Creed III." However, what's most interesting about his upcoming performance in "Quantumania" is that he's played an alternate version of that character before.

"Loki's" first season featured something that is incredibly rare in the Marvel Cinematic Universe: a genuine romance plotline. But this being Marvel, it just happened to be between a man and a woman who are different versions of the same person.
Sophia Di Martino, who played one half of the star-crossed pairing opposite Tom Hiddleston's God of Mischief, told TheWrap she expected fans to be split on their feelings at seeing Loki essentially fall in love with himself.
"I kind of expected it to be pretty split and some people to be really into it and just going along with it for the fact that it's a sort of love story. NBC's Sunday Night Football scored ratings that were down a little week to week — but that won't affect its status as the top-rated show on TV this season.

Welcome to another horror/sci-fi round-up! This time around we have word of two big cast confirmations for Independence Day 2, details on Scream Factory's Deep in the Darkness Blu-ray / DVD release, and information on the new Blanc/Biehn Productions film, Treachery.
Independence Day 2: Last night it was revealed that the first official cast member had signed on to star in Roland Emmerich's Independence Day 2, the sequel to his 1996 film that featured massive alien-induced destruction and larger-than-life characters. It's now been confirmed that one of those characters will be coming back, as Emmerich tweeted last night that Jeff Goldblum will appear in the sequel, likely reprising his role as the brainy and dryly humorous David Levinson, who teamed up with fighter pilot Captain Steven Hiller to take down the mothership in the original film. Smith will not be coming back to reprise his role as Steven.

What the hell is a cockney? I have friends all around the globe, including several in London, but I still had no idea what a cockney was. Apparently, cockney is a term used to describe people from East London. So, now you know, that Cockneys Vs. Zombies is a film about a group of people from East London, fighting off a zombie outbreak. I first became aware of this film when it was announced as a film that would be shown at the Toronto After Dark Film Festival. Jeff was on location at the festival, along with Tld homie, Kirk Haviland. You can find all of the festival coverage here. Jeff’s thoughts on Cockneys Vs Zombies, as well as the other films that played on that specific day of the festival can be found here. I have always had an interest in seeing this film, but not due to the title.

Steve Niles is best known for creating 30 Days of Night, the comic that inspired the movie, but he is a man with fingers in a lot of pies. Since the early 1990s he has worked for pretty damn near every comic company, big and small. He has written Batman, The Creeper, Spawn, 28 Days Later, and X-Files, as well as his own creations Cal McDonald, Simon Dark, Mystery Society, and more. Generally eschewing super-heroes for the horror genre, he has gained a large following of dedicated fans.
With his strong Diy attitude and outspoken push for better creator rights, women’s rights, gender equality, and animal rights, Steve is a man of principle. He is also one of the nicest and most gracious people in comics. Steve always has time to interact with his fans, both online and at conventions or signings.

When reviewing movies, it's sometimes hard to judge them fairly by the mediums they were created for. For instance, to come down as hard on a TV-movie created on a small budget as you do a bigger one like the A Nightmare on Elm Street remake would be unjust. That's how I tried to look at Chiller's Dead Souls.

Keith Wright's very funny and surprisingly touching tale investigates a mystery illness turning men in the north of England into something resembling bloodthirsty ghouls. One such victim is Harold (Stan Rowe), an old man whose transformation into something sub-human might just be arrested by the love of Penny (Sarah Spencer), a dedicated home care nurse. Steve Niles has been a faithful fighter for the little guy in the word of indie publishing and films. In Part Two he wraps up his feelings on the comic industry and looks forward to his own future. A future, it seems, that he is much more able to have a hand in shaping.
The indie publisher almost can’t afford a failure. So does indie publishing actually just come down to the comic creators?
It really does, more and more. I had a nice experience when I did the Little Bloody Pulp Book. We were wondering how we were going to do direct sales. One thing that surprised us was we sold 500 copies in a minute. We put it online and Foom! 500 copies. Now had I not put a $5.00 cover price on it... We sold 2,000 over a period of time. I can’t make a living selling 2,000 through the Diamond direct market.

One thing that surprised us was we sold 500 copies in a minute. We put it online and Foom! 500 copies. Now had I not put a $5.00 cover price on it... We sold 2,000 over a period of time. I can’t make a living selling 2,000 through the Diamond direct market.

I'm a Steve Niles fan to the end. The man is the reason I got back into comics. If it wasn't for the 30 Days of Night film intriguing me so much, I would never have picked up another one seriously again. If I see a comic or graphic novel with his name on it, I immediately want to read it and hold high expectations. Everything from Remains to The Thing prequel comics to his Cal McDonald stories is great. Unfortunately, my expectations might be unfairly a little too high at times.
Niles' latest work project for DC Comics is entitled Lot 13 and picks up in the 1600s in Fairfax County, Virginia. We learn it's the site of many atrocities committed in the name of God and religion. The settlers who came to the New World are superstitious and obsessed with finding heretics, witches, and other evildoers.

I don’t like the Chiller channel….I mean I really don’t like it. They edit for television, have too many commercials and/or promos and the movies they make generally suck. However, I was pleasantly surprised with Chiller’s original film Dead Souls (2012) based on the novel of the same name by Michael Laimo.
I’ll even go so far as to say that I had higher-than-usual expectations for this one and was pleased to see those expectations met. You see, I know Michael and while hanging out at the Horrorfind Convention this past September I got to talk to him a bit about the movie. He explained some of the adaptations made so that the story could be turned into a coherent re-telling for a roughly two hour runtime. He also told me that he did have a say in...
