Terrible
I tried watching ep one of season 2 and had to turn it off 6 minutes in due to the cringe levels. This production is so forced and contrived. It's down one thing, though, and that's this: And Just Like That causes me to look back on the second movie fondly, that movie was worlds better than this story. I have to get ton 609 characters so I'm just gonna stream-of-consciousness write now.

This show is sad and silly. Why are there so many characters and dumb storylines? Why would Miranda still be in touch with the professor she worked with for just a semester? Also, is Miranda's alcoholism cured bc she's now a living life as a lesbian? Just such a poorly written story.

Solid premiere.
fede44885 July 2023
Are people really complaining about sex scenes in a show called SEX and the City? An HBO production? Really?! You could not make this up. Have you all become puritans?

I was actually surprised by the nudity but I command the ladies for doing it. Why should only young people have sex scenes. That's so ageist.

Anyway, the premiere wasn't that bad. I still haven't warmed up to the new characters but it's not fair on them since the other 3 had multiple seasons of character development.

Episode description: "While Carrie questions whether she's ready for more than a casual fling, Miranda starts to worry her relationship with Che is only about sex."

All these added characters...
...and their grandmother (literally, in the next episode) -- what are they adding to the story, might I ask? What is their connection to Carrie, Charlotte and Miranda?... I've been watching the show quite closely. But in all honesty, at this point I have no idea who they are or what their deal is -- beyond giving us a walking cliché of impossibly wealthy, successful, glamorous etc. People. Yawn. The end result is bizarre. It's like watching two separate shows somehow spliced over one another. If the idea was to celebrate diversity and all that, this is a very awkward and superficial way to do that. Ultimately, it serves no one.

And just like that.... We are back on track
mellabella-9340122 June 2023
The last season had it's moments, but I felt very frustrated with our core characters and the loss of their long, developed personalities. I was concerned for this second season. Frankly I could not watch another season like the first, the writing was NOT great. I started this episode, the first in the second season with reticence. I was so happy to see Miranda back to being the strong intelligent woman she has always been and her development with Che, showing their vulnerability. Carrie is back too, the last 2 minutes brought a tear to my eye and it was perfection... So happy to be back in the zone, let's hope it continues.

I have but one complaint
paulied-496637 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I already gave the series a rave review so in order to deliver my one complaint I have to review a singular episode.

Is it necessary for Miranda and Che to be having so much sex? The answer is NO if I do say so myself.

The problem is that it's not a good visually appealing kind of sex, it's more pornographic and vomit inducing. This has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that Miranda is a woman and Che is nonbinary. It's uncomfortable to watch, it's even more uncomfortable to hear and no offense to anyone of a particular age, but Cynthia Nixon has no business doing fully nude sex scenes. I could forgive most of my complaints if the scenes were filmed in a more beautiful manner, such as "making love" versus "frat boy banging in a bathroom stall style". Nothing about it is attractive or appealing and it's not just season two episode one, this begins in season one and continues, so far into season two episode four (which is all that is currently available) with no signs of slowing down. So there you have it. You've been warned. Proceed with caution!

Why doesn't rating with a zero exist?
tijana-9604723 June 2023
Absolutely horrible.

No storyline whatsoever, nothing happening at all. During all 45 minutes of the episode we do not get one single piece of relevant information or a fun dialogue. The whole episode is just unimportant, boring chit-chat.

Furthermore, there is too much unnecessary and distasteful nudity which the original SATC would never display. The series is ruining the original series' reputation. It is tedious, shameful and, I am sorry for saying this but straight up CRINGE. I also feel the acting got worse than that from SATC! It is forced and the children in the series play better than adult actors.

Spare yourself the trouble, boredom and waste of time and please do not watch the show. There is nothing remotely entertaining or positive about it.

Worse than season 1
lotusflower_cam27 June 2023
The only good thing about the show if you want to spare 45 min of your day is cool outfits. The three main characters all of whom are in 50s in 2020s talk like they're still in their 30s in the 90s. They don't talk like real women do at all When SATC was airing in 30-min time slots twenty+ years ago, the dialogues fit the times and they were sharper.

Michael Patrick King needs to retire. He, as a developer, producer, writer, AND director of the series, clearly has too much control of the narrative and writing, not to mention the rest. He's making all the women characters and other straight characters talk like young, single, pretentious gay men in their youth. Maybe that's how he and his circle talk, still today, even if the man is in his sixties.

I'm a straight woman who has many male gay friends. The way the dialogues go, remind me so much of young gay men's chats. That in itself is fine, the problem is MPK is turning the original SATC characters, that are not gay men, into himself or people like him. Egoism at its worst.

I feel sad that the actresses continue to sign up and act in these series. Are they totally blind to how there's no substance to their characters or storylines anymore, or are they doing it for the hype or the money?

Kim Cattrall was certainly smart to distance herself from these installments and keep her retuning appearance in this season to very minimum.

It's a totally lost show dragged on by a clearly very self-absorbed person that's perpetually projecting himself in the creative process that should never be so indulgent, supported by equally self-absorbed cast.

So. Very. Sad.

Better than season one! However..
megankayolsen22 June 2023
This season feels more fun! And a bit more like the old show. I'm liking the dating and fashion Carrie is experiencing! However Miranda is still nothing like the old Miranda, she's not a smart, sharp sarcastic lawyer anymore.. just a bimbo. Also the writer won't recognize why we hate Che, they say it's cause we are bigots if we don't but it's Ches personality and character, nothing to do with their sexuality. They are not funny and frankly insufferable! Miranda and Ches relationship is the worst part of the show. However the rest of the show is waaay more fun. There are more jokes, more fashion, more fun with the characters and having fun in New York and way better romance!

My eyes...I can't unsee that

Warning: Spoilers
Season 1 was fun, I was genuinely interested, even stomched Vynthias dire drabble about her existience. When season 2 started, the opening was cute with all the ladies and their partners. Then something happened and I just ..... well blacked out with all the alwardly done sex sceens. It was like the priducers tried to play catch up with the sex sceens. Thought 2nd eposide would be betterm but nope. Seeing Miranda haplessly talking on spaker phone with Carrie as Miranda triesnto get into a strap on harness....and then a sceen as she opens a floattion chamber to see her entire naked body .... .. and just like that that I am out.

What was that? So so bad
themagician-2407120 July 2023
Sorry to say that, but this was the worst 45 minutes of a TV Show I watched mhhh let me say in the last 25 years or so. Unbelievable bad in every way. Really I don't know where to start. Let us begin with the script: Really, I mean really? Women in their mid to end 50's behave, react an speak like they are in their 30's? This is so cringe. I had to laugh from the begining. Is this show concepted as a comedy? OK, than it works for me.

The dialogues: Sorry, really sorry I mean I don't know any women in ther mid or late 50's who are speaking in that way. It's ridicolus.

The characters: All cliches hurray. For example the gay men in this show are obvisously camp. Why?

It's all so bad. Really. Skip this show. It's a waste of your lifetime.

all those addons....
MidoriAi7 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
All those addons are unbelievable and the others are NOT NECESSARY.

Thank god to fast forward. I'm from that day and age where I had to conform to watch things on a channel with not the possibility of choosing to FF, rewind, where to watch it or when to watch it.

Why I'm I saying this? Because if there wouldn't be a FF option I wouldn't be seeing this. Really. Why?:

*The addon characters: NOBODY CARED ABOUT THEM IN SEASON ONE, NO ONE CARES FOR THEM IN SEASON 2. So I'm skipping all those ethnic pleasing parts

*The addon gender neutral lesbianwomanthatlooks like a men. I don't like to see gayrelationships. So I'm skipping that.

I'm skipping the men dressing like a woman. I don't like that agenda. It was so intense in S1, and they are still pushing it on S2.

Skipping the "genderneutral" girl.

Stop pushing that shitagenda down our throats. It is like they try to make is seem half society wants to be that way when it is not.

That's why this TV show is not relatable.

You could find a little of you in each one of the 4 friends in SATC. In this show, no you won't find any.

I just want to see the friends, and their relationship with each other, and the side characters we all know and loved from seasons 1 to 6 from SATC. Why putting new characters? Oh I forgot! Because they are white.

It is a freakshow.

And it is not believable the realtor having that way of life.

I know I'm forgetting many details but this is what I'm left feeling.

They want us to see all the woman empowered, sexy after 50... so they begin AJLT s2 with all the female protagonists (plus the other 3 we just really don't care) being sexy and having sex with their partners... Is that what's happening in RL with women almost 60 years old? I wish.
