A couple of eps back, I wondered why we had so many elaborate plot twists given to us at once. And I still feel that one episode was overloaded.
But last week and this week (and probably next) we get multiple huge pay offs to so many knotty issues from the Davidson feud.
Bonus points: it serves as a platform from which to launch the spinoff show.
---
The action in this episode focused on the aftermath of the race and the "missing Davidson"--which the writers gave us ample hints on, so it wasn't a complete surprise.
Even expecting it, however, gave us a chance to savor the spot Geri now finds herself in. Bless Cordell for not caring if she's "One of The Davidsons," but Geri was more in the right to say her identity is shaken to the core.
Will this give us an actual plot for Geri which is not centered on Cordell? (Damn Bechdel is hurting and I really, really hope so.)
---
Meanwhile, Abeline? Seriously, Molly Hagan knocks every scene she's in out of the park and Mitch Pileggi as Bonham is right there with her.
Jared Padalecki makes me forget who he is, he's so thoroughly immersed in every single moment on screen. What an amazing range we're seeing.
And circling back to the beginning--what a great new imagining of WTR.
---
Love to the entire cast on this episode, no matter how much screen time. (Yes, I groaned "oh, Auggie" and wanted to hug the character twice.)
Kudos to the writers and (new) director as well.
This was one of those fast paced, interesting episodes that make you amazed at how time flies. And definitely want another watch, soon as you can.
---
For all the plot twists viewers had thrown at us at once--these episodes are having huge payoffs in BOTH plot and characters.
Fabulous job!
