Who you gonna call?

With the studios stalling, some enterprising Ghostbusters fans have taken matters into their own hands to bring new, exciting Ghostbusting stories to the screen. What this project lacked in budget, it makes up for with enthusiasm, and the loving details on Ecto 1, the giant ghost puppet, and the proton packs will prove it. The special effects are rudimentary but perfectly adequate to keep the story going. Suspend your disbelief and enjoy the good things this movie has to offer, like that really cool firehouse set, a genuinely clever script, The first thing to realize, is although it's clearly taking place in Atlanta (fountains, landmarks, talk of peaches, and cops with powerful accents will tell), this isn't "Ghostbusters, GA." Orr hasn't gone the conventional Fanfilm route of opening up his own franchise and populating it with original characters. This film is an adaptation of a "Real Ghostbusters" episode, and these characters are very clearly Venkman, Spengler, Zeddemore and Stantz just with name changes.

Harry Valentine, as -Egon- Novan Holtzler, will impress you the most. He captures the deadpan delivery and unbending will of the GB's mad scientist in residence, and the shot where he mimes what he's got planned for the Big Bad is worth watching this film just to see.

Special mention too for Orr himself as -Peter- Derek Aultman, a guy clearly more interested in getting the girl then saving the day. Brandon Shorter, too, is quite fun to watch as the guy who still hasn't really figured out how he ended up in the middle of this madness.

Generally, this is the best kind of fan service: it was clearly made because these people love the source material and had a story they wanted to tell. The script is clever, the sets are cool, the acting is fun, the humor is humorous, and most importantly...this film GETS Ghostbusters. It understands that what makes them so compelling isn't the coolness of fighting monsters with laser beams; it's the characters and how they interact.

I'd be curious to see what Orr could do with some ORIGINAL Ghostbuster characters, and what kind of Ghosts one fights in Georgia...

The movie's free to watch on youtube. Go see it already. Why are you still here?

Amateurish and rarely successful

Warning: Spoilers
I really hope that "The Real Ghostbusters" are not actually the real ones because they simply aren't very good. This is a 44-minute movie from 4 years ago and it obviously based on the famous Bill Murray starring franchise. This short film recently rose a bit to prominence again as well when it became known that a 3rd Ghostbusters film is in the making. Hopefully that one will be better than this one here written by, directed by and starring Clint Orr. There is a reason why almost everybody involved with this movie does not have a really prolific body of work. They are simply not talented. Also I did not like the obviously politically correct decision to make one of the Ghostbusters a Black guy. He adds almost nothing to the film and hardly ever says something. The Ghostbusters go against the Boogeyman in this one and are confronted with their fears. I am not really sure how the main characters relate to those from the famous movies as I have not seen these, but the way they are depicted here I also do not really feel motivated to watch the feature films, especially the guy with the glasses was annoying. The only somewhat entertaining thing was the one with the married woman the Ghostbusters have to protect, maybe because of Katie Causey's good looks. All in all, a weak film and certainly not as funny as they try to be. Not recommended.

Awesome

I loved this version of ghostbusters. Yes it may not be quite as good as the original, but it is still worth watching if you are a fan of the movies and TV shows.

I had to write this review just because I was so impressed with it. I can tell a lot of hard work, long hours and a lot of love went in to this movie. I know how hard it can be to produce a film with little to no budget. These guys and gals probably didn't make much, if any money from this film so I just wanted to give these guys a little nod from North Wales, UK, to let them know that this ghostbusters fan really enjoyed their movie and would recommend it to everyone.

Ghostbusters capture a humongous, evil ghost.

Watch this movie a thousand times. Watch it a thousand times, a second time. You will be woah'd and ew'd and ah'd. This film has personality. More personality than a hamster. More personality than your cat. Not quite as much personality as Herman Cain. More personality than a hurricane.

The Ghostbusters are at it again! You can say that again. Watch it a thousand times, a third time. By now you should be very familiar with the plot. This should hit the spot. Murder is something the doing of which you ought not. Wholesome lessons such as these will be gleamed from this movie when your children watch it. This movie is perfect for televisions of all sizes. The slap- chop is only one tenth as interesting as this movie. Who you gonna call?!??!?!?
