There's little to say about this snip of film from 1912. It shows three arctic explorers and names them. It's twenty-four seconds in length and the two humans look better dressed for the gelid environment of the earth's poles.
Still, this is what went into the news a century ago: little snippets of story to fill out the pages in the press. Little snippets of nitrate to fill out a newsreel for the theaters -- Gaumont invented the newsreel and its name was still in use half a century later when television news had taken the place of giving the public immediate visual news.
