Best episode so far?

The Police begin to close in on the network is criminals, and are almost a step ahead, calculating the next links in the chain.

It's yet another quality episode, arguably this was the best one yet, a very, very good watch, the story continues to grow and develop, plenty of tension to have you on the edge of your seat.

The opening sequences were definitely of interest, I wondered the significance they would have, I wasn't disappointed.

It's like a pyramid scheme, and we are getting to see all of the stages, no holds barred, they're all at it.

There's a real wealth of acting talent here, it's loaded with such a quality cast, Daniel Ings really stood out for me as Archie Osborne.

Jeannie Savage's scene in The Bank was one of those squeaky bum moments, there's going to be a weak link in the chain, I was half expecting it to be her. Dorothy Atkinson is a fine actress, she was great and really looked the part.

8/10.

The Consequences Are Mine

A better episode only because the police are finally on the front foot. They have jewellery stores and member of the gang under surveillance.

DCI Brian Boyce manages to get hi tech equipment from Northern Ireland to keep track of some of the suspects.

Large scale money laundering was much easier back in the early 1980s. Even then a fake gold mine in Sierra Leone has to be investigated.

Also the baddies are more Keystone Kops themselves when it comes to laundering money.

One of them drops 10,000 pounds on the street. Then goes to the police station to report it missing.

I do wonder if The Gold might have worked more at this stage as a farcical drama. It is still too staid.
