- [first lines]
- Harry Venn: [whispering] Shit.
- Gina Hawkes: Why didn't he kill us?
- Harry Venn: [searching Hillman's body] Tell me this, Gina. You have any idea who wants to kill you so badly, huh?
- Gina Hawkes: I don't know. I...
- Harry Venn: What do you mean, you don't know? Whoever it is, you must have pissed them off real bad.
- Gina Hawkes: I said, I don't know!
- Elspeth Verney: Are we Brian Worsley's fan club now?
- Elliot Suckling: No.
- Elspeth Verney: Then why does this read like a fanzine? The Prime Minister is a disaster. Thanks to him, we've had two weeks without a proper government. The pound is falling through the floor and, as I discovered for myself yesterday, there are mobs rioting in the streets. Not to mention the nine million that Worsley has managed to accumulate for himself in various offshore accounts. Perhaps you're planning on running his defense campaign for him when he's finally arrested?
- Harry Venn: Frank, I need your car.
- Frank Hanna: I'm coming with you.
- Harry Venn: No no, I need you to stay here and do something for me. Can you get me a gun?
- [Frank raises his eyebrows]
- Harry Venn: What?
- Frank Hanna: It's just never a good sign when your lawyer asks you for a gun.
- Jason Styles: She got away. I have the entire help desk focused on finding her.
- James Morpeth: She's proving very elusive.
- Jason Styles: The engineers weren't expecting Venn in Paris. He must have been armed.
- James Morpeth: You've been running the help desk for what, 22 years now?
- Jason Styles: 23, ever since Teddy set it up.
- James Morpeth: It's difficult work, I know. It's messy but, Jason, this is very bad timing.
- Jason Styles: I know.
- James Morpeth: Everything's in play for tomorrow. Conditions are perfect. We have our man. Teddy taught us to play a long game, but if we lose this chance, we may never get another one. Find Gina Hawkes and Harry Venn, and kill them.
- George Venn: If you'd stuck by Mark, he'd still be alive today.
- Harry Venn: If I'd stuck by Mark, we'd both be dead.
- George Venn: What's the difference?
- Harry Venn: What's with the disappearing act in Paris, Gina? Don't you trust me, or something?
- Frank Hanna: I'd say the answer to that is no.
- Gina Hawkes: Who is he?
- Harry Venn: He's a friend.
- Gina Hawkes: Is he trustworthy?
- Harry Venn: I don't know, shall we ask him? Are you trustworthy?
- Frank Hanna: Fuck you.
- Harry Venn: Yeah, there you go, he's trustworthy.
