FX has ordered a pilot for the half-hour comedy “Snowflakes.”
The project boasts an impressive lineup behind the camera. Ben Kronengold and Rebecca Shaw are the writers and executive producers, with Nick Kroll executive producing under his first-look deal with FX Productions. Karey Dornetto will also executive produce along with Alicia Van Couvering, president of Kroll’s Good at Business production banner, and Jonathan Krisel, with Krisel also directing. FX Productions will produce.
The logline for “Snowflakes” describes it as a “twenty-something ensemble comedy following a group of codependent housemates trying to be good people, despite being neither ‘good’ nor ‘people’ yet.”
Kronengold and Shaw were writers for four years on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” on which they were the youngest writers in the show’s history. They also published the book “Naked in the Rideshare: Stories of Gross Miscalculations,” a collection of comedy short stories, with HarperCollins...

First Time Female Director lead star, writer and director, Chelsea Peretti is a lot of things.
A talented stand-up comedian who can consistently make audiences (including myself) laugh. An energetic character actor who can make even the mundane whacky as evidenced by her character, Gina Linetti, in the police procedural comedy, Brooklyn 99. A sharp and hilarious writer as seen in series like Parks and Recreation and Kroll Show. She is clearly talented in a lot of fields, but unfortunately, I don’t believe that directing is one of them.
Despite First Time Female Director having more than a handful of moments that made me chuckle, and even laugh at times, this is a film, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, that feels incredibly amateurish and bare-bones in terms of story, presentation and cohesiveness.

Over 40 years after "History of the World Part I" hit theaters, a sequel is finally arriving in the form of a TV series on Hulu. Appropriately titled "History of the World Part II," the series follows in the footsteps of the legendary Mel Brooks by looking back at history with a contemporary comedic lens. Taking cues from the original movie, the series jumps around to different historical periods and events, such as the Biblical times of Jesus Christ, the unfolding of the Russian Revolution, the struggles of ending the Civil War, and many more. While some of the sketches are ongoing threads spread across eight episodes, there are also smaller bits involving Noah's Ark, Kublai Kahn, William Shakespeare, and Galileo.
What's great about "History of the World Part II" (watch the trailer here) is how it combines the classic style of Mel Brooks comedies with the contemporary humor of its creators.

Jonathan Krisel, the co-creator of the IFC series Portlandia, is in talks to direct the Pokémon Detective Pikachu sequel for Legendary Entertainment, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
The 2019 original, directed by Rob Letterman, followed voice star Ryan Reynolds in the title role, with Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom‘s Justice Smith co-starring as a young man named Tim who has given up on his dreams of becoming a Pokémon trainer. When his detective father goes missing, Tim meets Detective Pikachu and immediately has a special connection to the Pokémon, being the only person who can understand him. Together, the duo team up to solve the mystery of Tim’s missing father.
The original film was barely in theaters before Legendary began work on a sequel to its Pokémon-based movie, with Oren Uziel to pen the script. Now Chris Galletta is understood to be writing the screenplay for the sequel.

Nearly four years removed from the original, a "Detective Pikachu" sequel is finally moving forward at Warner Bros. Though it does seem like we're going to get a mostly new team behind the camera. As for in front of the camera? More on that in a moment. For now, what we know is that Jonathan Krisel, the co-creator of "Portlandia," is in negotiations to direct the sequel. This news comes courtesy of Deadline, who reveal that Chris Galletta ("The Kings of Summer") is also on board to pen the screenplay. So things seem to be moving along.
Rob Letterman ("Goosebumps") directed the first film, which finally brought the world of "Pokemon" into live-action. Rather than go with an Ash Ketchum-centric story, Warner Bros. opted to adapt the "Detective Pikachu" video game in a bit of a left-of-center move. It's also one that worked, as the film earned generally favorable reviews...

For eight seasons, Brooklyn Nine-Nine was one of the most beloved and funniest comedies on TV. The show even survived a shift to a new network, going from Fox to NBC for its final three seasons. Part of the show’s success is certainly owed to the showrunners’ ability to recognize talented people and apply their skills to the best use for the show. Take Chelsea Peretti’s initial audition, for instance.
Chelsea Peretti plays Gina Linetti on ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ Chelsea Peretti attends the Premiere of Illumination’s “Sing 2” I Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic
For the show’s first six seasons, Peretti played Gina Linetti. The character serves as the 99th Precinct’s civilian administrator and assistant to commanding officer Raymond Holt (Andree Braugher). Peretti certainly got a lot of juice out of her character’s outsider status within the ensemble cast of Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Naturally, Gina Linetti has become her signature role.

Mel Brooks is one of the few remaining living legends in pop culture to have survived so many generational shifts. He started as a comedy writer in the earliest days of television, helped shape and transform modern movie humor, and eventually ended up creating a sea change on Broadway as well with an adaptation of "The Producers," one of his first movies. And now, more than seven full decades after he started in TV, Brooks is back on the small screen, as glimpsed in the opening of the Hulu limited series "History of the World, Part II." But true to form, the Brooks we get a glimpse of is a joke in and of itself: it's a very "swole" Brooks (Aka a bodybuilder with a de-aged version of Brooks' face slapped in front of his own visage). It's a microcosm of this sketch series, as shameless and crass and incredibly funny as Brooks' own work.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is continuing to expand in unexpected ways post-"Avengers: Endgame," but few could have predicted one of the next heroes to get a Disney+ adaptation would be Simon Williams aka Wonder Man. The series was announced earlier this summer with "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings" and the upcoming "Avengers: The Kang Dynasty" director Destin Daniel Cretton attached to executive produce with Andrew Guest serving as the head writer. The series is still in the early stages of production, but it was recently announced that Ben Kingsley would be reprising his role as Trevor Slattery, thereby connecting "Wonder Man" to the story of "Shang-Chi."
As it stands, only Kingsley's casting on the show has been confirmed so far, which leaves the titular character a mystery. Wonder Man is a lesser-known Marvel character created in 1964 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, first introduced as a...

Showtime has picked up to pilot Big Deal, a half-hour single-camera comedy co-created by and starring Emmy-nominated Saturday Night Live alumna Vanessa Bayer. Emmy-winning former Inside Amy Schumer head writer Jessi Klein serves as showrunner on Big Deal, which Bayer co-created with former SNL writer Jeremy Beiler.
Big Deal is a grounded comedy in which a woman (Bayer) overcomes childhood leukemia to achieve her lifelong dream of landing a job as a QVC host.

Stranger Things’ David Harbour plays his “father” in this Netflix mockumentary about an ill-fated Frankenstein TV play.
Frankenstein’s Monster’s Monster, Frankenstein is a title that will make a lot more sense if you accept the fact that “Frankenstein’s Monster” – not “Frankenstein” – is the actual name of Mary Shelley’s resurrected title character. Consequently, it will then become clear to you that this Netflix offering is not an adaptation of said story, but, rather, a mockumentary about a TV production of it, with which Stranger Things’ David Harbour creates an eccentric pseudo-history.
Indeed, Harbour briefly put aside his Stranger Things small town police chief Jim Hopper, to play, well, David Harbour – a fictionalized version of his “father,” named David Harbour Jr., an eccentric thespian resembling a late-life Orson Welles who, via 40-year-old lost footage, is depicted in the midst of a hilariously quixotic attempt to...

‘Frankenstein’s Monster’s Monster, Frankenstein’ Trailer: Let David Harbour Explain What Is Going On
Netflix hasn’t officially declared this July as David Harbour Month, but there’s one more piece of evidence suggesting that it may just happen regardless.
The service unveiled the first official extended look at “Frankenstein’s Monster’s Monster, Frankenstein,” a mockumentary with a premise as convoluted as its title. Harbour, who also will be soon seen in the third season of the runaway hit series “Stranger Things,” plays a fictionalized version of himself who finds video evidence of a complicated family history on the stage.
In this twisting created family history, Harbour’s dad was a misunderstood acting genius who put on televised productions of theatrical works. One recently excavated tape shows the elder Harbour in a role as the classic literary Dr. Frankenstein, who just so happens to be pretending to be a monster at the same time. This aging actor sure has a Wellesian penchant for impeccable diction,...

David Harbour is getting stranger for Netflix’s upcoming mockumentary “Frankenstein’s Monster’s Monster, Frankenstein.” If that title didn’t already make it clear this project would be even weirder than Harbour’s “Stranger Things,” the trailer certainly will, as it features Harbour playing very dramatic versions of both himself and his “father,” David Harbour Jr.
In the 1-minute, 31-second clip above, Harbour explains how he’s been uncovering “lost footage” of his dad and his made-for-tv play, “Frankenstein’s Monster’s Monster, Frankenstein,” to learn about his “father.” The trailer gives you a tiny taste of what’s in this “found footage,” which is the not-so-stable, acting genius David Harbour Jr. and his dreams for his masterpiece.
(In real life, Harbour’s dad, Ken, sells commercial real estate in Westchester County, New York.)

A writer working in the mediums of comedy and music, Mark Rivers has been able to bring both of these creative passions into play with the Netflix animated series, Big Mouth.
Created by by Nick Kroll, Jennifer Flackett, Andrew Goldberg and Mark Levin, the raunchy and heartfelt series centers on teenage friends who find their lives turned upside down by the good, the bad and the ugly of puberty—and as one might expect, Big Mouth has given Rivers the opportunity to craft songs you might not hear anywhere else. Receiving his first Emmy nomination in 2018 for the Queen-inspired tune “Totally Gay”—with Brendan McCreary providing the Ghost of Freddie Mercury’s pipes—Rivers has since gone on to write four songs for the series’ second season, and three for My Furry Valentine, a Valentine’s Day special released ahead of Season 3, with titles like “I Love My Body,” “Sex...

The streamer has put out a series order for “Q-Force,” a half-hour animated comedy from “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” writer-producer Gabe Liedman.

Liedman’s other writing credits include “Broad City,” Hulu’s “PEN15,” and the “Kroll Show.” He also had a stint as a supervising producer on “Transparent.”

The reviews are in, and Us officially lives up to the hype. In fact, Jordan Peele's new horror film, starring Winston Duke, Lupita Nyong'o, Elisabeth Moss, and Tim Heidecker, currently has a 94 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. Now that we've invested in a ginormous nightlight (a floor lamp from Target that we plan to leave on at all times), we've been doing a deep dive on our new favorite horror cast ensemble. We knew Heidecker, the actor who plays Josh Tyler/Tex, looked familiar, but when we realized we knew him as one half of Tim & Eric, we couldn't believe it. It turns out the actor-writer-comedian-director-musician is quite the chameleon, and his past work speaks for itself.
Heidecker got his start when he teamed up with Eric Wareheim to create, write, and star in the animated series Tom Goes to the Mayor, which aired on Adult Swim from 2004 to 2006. The...

While Brooklyn Nine-Nine was saved by NBC, the return will serve as the send-off for Chelsea Peretti’s Gina Linetti.

“Brooklyn Nine-Nine” star Chelsea Peretti is set to star as the lead of the independent comedy feature “Spinster.”
Andrea Dorfman is helming the project from an original screenplay written by Jennifer Deyell. Producers are Marc Tetreault (“Suck It Up”) from Shut Up & Colour Pictures, William Woods (“Mean Dreams”) from Woods Entertainment, Jay Dahl (“Heartbeat”) from Black Dog Films, and Bill Niven (“The Book of Negroes”) from Idlewild Films.
“Spinster,” currently filming, is financed in part by Telefilm Canada and Nova Scotia Business Inc. It’s the story of a woman who, after being unceremoniously dumped on her 39th birthday, faces her fear of becoming a pathetic, lonely spinster.
Peretti most recently starred in “Game Night” opposite Jason Bateman and Rachel McAdams and completed shooting “Friendsgiving” opposite Malin Akerman and Kat Dennings. In addition to five seasons of “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” as administrator Gina Linetti, she has appeared in HBO’s farewell season of “Girls,...

“Big Mouth” creators Nick Kroll (“Kroll Show,” “The League”) and Andrew Goldberg (“Family Guy”) have known each other since the first grade, and became best friends in middle school — right when the hormone monster began its attack.

Kroll was a late bloomer — and it was that awkward puberty that inspired Kroll, Goldberg, Mark Levin and Jennifer Flackett to come up with “Big Mouth.” The animated series stars Kroll as Nick and John Mulaney as Andrew, and centers on their friendship as puberty — personified on the show as the hormone monster — puts it through the test.
Maya Rudolph, Jason Mantzoukas, Jordan Peele, Fred Armisen, Jenny Slate and Jessi Klein also star on the show, which IndieWire TV critic Ben Travers touted as a show that honestly captures the horrors of adolescence: “The show is unafraid to tell the embarrassing truths of pubescence, but knows...
