Bonnie and Anny work together to open the forth coffin and they succeed. Meanwhile Damon and Stephan go with Elijah to meet Klaus for a deal, but actually expecting to gain more time for the witches. Alaric is mortally stabbed and Elena kills him to allow Alaric to resurrect. Bill Forbes refuses to complete the transition to vampire and dies. Stephan and Damon are invited by Klaus for a dinner party for negotiation; but Klaus promises to kill Stephan if Damon does not bring the fourth casket and asks Elijah to go with Damon. However they revive all the family that hates Klaus. In the end, they receive a surprising visitor.

"Bringing Out the Dead" finally shows something different in the show. Let's see if bringing all the vampires back to life will be good for Mystic Falls or they will scare the town. Who is killing the members of the council? My vote is eight.

episode belongs to Candice Accola
RavenGlamDVDCollector16 April 2019
Yeah, yeah, what the other people say... but I focus on the finer points. I've been a fan of Candice from Day One, and it very quickly became clear that she had a very difficult part (I liken her to Ashley Benson in PRETTY LITTLE LIARS, blonde beauty in often-tearful part) and without going into details, in this episode, after a bit of 'a rest' last week, Candice had to pull out all the stops with her tearful farewell to her Dad.* And she is absolutely magnificent. I am currently in the process of putting up that final father & daughter scene as an almost complete sequence right here on this page as well. She makes me proud to watch, and it is as The Raven always says, it's no use to just have violence violence violence, there has just gotta be a great girl in the storyline as well. This week Candice really took the episode. Yeah, yeah, Klaus and all that, I know, but I wouldn't have been here were it not for Nina Dobrev in the first place, with Candice turning out as the cherry on top. What would all those stakes and coffins and bloodthirsty vampires be without Nina and Candice?

Notice the way Elena speaks to Caroline when she advises her to accept that her Dad prefers to die. How her voice is that soft. So very, very gentle. You yourself might tune in for the cruel scenes, but the shoe's real wealth lies in the humanity.

Thank you, both Nina and Candice.

*caught that bit that Bill's lover is called Steven. For the youngsters, Jack Coleman used to be Steven on DYNASTY back when DYNASTY was still the real DYNASTY (enough said here))

The Originals Awaken
vivianla2 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Alaric tells Damon it is on speakerphone, d**k which made me laugh. Elena prettily ties up her hair.

Damon and Stefan go to Klaus's place where they are served by beautiful women all wearing strapless dresses. Elijah and Klaus tell them of the original first doppelgänger - Tatia. Tatia, Katerina, then Elena. Elijah and Klaus fell for Tatia and fought over her. Their mother took her to stop them from feuding over Tatia. They became vampires from Tatia's blood they found out later. Lots of men have fallen for the Petrova doppelgänger.

Long story short - the Originals have awaken. The mystery coffin contained the mother who Klaus killed. The Mother declares she wants them to be a family again.

Stefan tells Damon he loves Elena. Damon replies he does too.

the potential that never got there

If this storyline with the original vampire family had actually gone anywhere beside all disbanding in like the next episode, I would have gave the episode a 9 but overall the most exciting thing to happen this season besides ripper Stefan ends before it even begins, I love the episode with the dining scene and all that but sadly the episodes to follow ruin what's great about this episode sadly

And the show gets more and more ridiculous.

Warning: Spoilers
Except for the part with Klaus and the rest of the Originals family, the rest of the episode is useless and cringeworthy. Bonnie and her mother risked their lives to bring back the Mikaelson matriarch, and they didn't even get a thank you? And for what? More of their drama, and two more siblings appearing out of thin air? The way they pulled another love triangle, was silly too. Like every guys fall for a Petrova doppelgänger, now? Especially when they share the same blood? Stupid. Seeing Damon say he loved Elena too, like it was his turn to have his way with her now, made me want to vomit. As much as I dislike Klaus, he was right about the brothers only bringing misery to this girl. But is she really worth it? That's the thing that bothered me with the show the most after a while. It was assassination of characters, vocal fans disliked, all the time. And what's with killing off and/or resuscitating secondary characters? Did the new team of writers hated their work??
