Funny and touchingly awesome

Warning: Spoilers
So we all know that this episode was about a shojo; a monster that you can only see when you're drunk. It was so hilarious to see Dean, Sam, and Garth drunk! Now, our beloved character Bobby is dead and I know that we are all wondering, is Bobby a ghost? The answer to that question would be yes. Dean believes that Bobby is a ghost while Sam on the other hand is totally in denial. We actually get to see Bobby when Dean goes back into the hotel room to get the flask. Bobby thinks that Dean can see him but he can't. Bobby says his famous "balls!" comment and disappears. I have read some reviews that were totally against having Bobby come back as a ghost but I feel that there has to be someone to come back for Sam and Dean. They have lost everything and if a character was to come back from the dead then I would love for it to be Bobby.

You've been Garthed!

Warning: Spoilers
Well I might not be crazy about Garth, but as Dean said he sure grows on you. He is far more balanced than most hunters we have crossed paths with over the years, (He is sure as Hell more balanced than our very own Sam and Dean). He is awkward, silly, cute and he has a relationship with someone for crying out loud! Mr. Fizzles may have been a bit over the top but who didn't enjoy Dean's reaction to it (Priceless). Garth also had enough smarts to figure out the brewery's partner illegitimate son and he could put together clues about Bobby's spirit (Oh Bobby!) I would enjoy seeing him every now and then but no more Garth centric episodes especially this late in the season

"Party on,Garth" might not top my favourite episodes list but the ending took it from being mediocre to epic. Oh my God Bobbyyyyyyyyyyyyy! I could swear my heart literally stopped upon seeing that magnificent man gracing my Laptop screen again. Oh You won't believe how much I missed you Jim Beaver. You sly sly mean guy you fooled us all with all the talk about the Snowman movie, And I can't believe how much effort the crew of Supernatural have put to keep us from being spoiled. Now I hate you all but I guess I love you even more. Would you bring back the Impala please?!

Jensen Ackles once again delivered a brilliant performance conveying the many sides of Dean. Dean is frustrated, childish and desperate. His scene when he was pleading with Bobby's spirit to give him any sign, was massively heart breaking with Sam lurking in the back ground. I couldn't stop laughing on drunk Dean ("Me likey") and how childish he was spitting the liquor back in the glass upon getting caught.

Sam is trying to find his ground again after passing on the crazy to Cas. He is far more relaxed but guilty for what happened to the nerd Angel, he is once again re assuming his role as Dean's partner and co worker. I enjoyed his smug attitude when he matched Dean with drunk Garth. Sam is trying to find logic within the strange appearances that's been surrounding them especially after being disappointed so many times. He wished to spare Dean this disappointment upon using the talk board because he went a little nuts and couldn't trust himself back then so why drag Dean into this heartache!

Finally the MOTW was interesting, a nice call to Japanese scary creatures. If I have to complain about this episode, I would say I don't like it when the boys act as a supporting cast to a guest star. And I might not be an expert about getting drunk, (I have never tasted liquor in my life, for religious reasons) but every one seemed to get intoxicated very quickly. (But hey I can live with drunk Sam and Dean on every episode);)

Probably the best Garth episode
CubsandCulture7 May 2020
Garth really became a much more developed character than his origin would have hinted at. The character was a throw away gag in Weekend at Bobby's but he blossomed into a recurring comedic character. This is probably the best episode with him-I think because he actually helps the boys see something that they might of missed otherwise. In any case this is fun , light episode that has the feel of the 1st season to it. The Japanese spirit spirit was fun variant on a ghost.

Warning: Spoilers
Garth is back, and with him, one very funny (and touching episode).

When two young brothers are killed in the woods, Garth, unable to find the culprit, decides to call Sam and Dean for help. Pretty soon it seems this new threat is a very special one, one that can only be seen if you are drunk.

"Part On, Garth" is a light, funny, action-packed episode, with some very, but very silly, Japanese lore, that helps in keeping the show fresh and interesting. Instead of centering on this season's enemy, the episode goes back to basics, with the brothers hunting monster-of- the-week threats. It is something that has been done very smartly this season, and here we have another very good example. From Garth doing not very smart things, to the need to get wasted, the episode keeps the tension high without forgetting the humor.

It also very smartly develops the Bobby story-line. Weird things keep happening around the Winchester brothers, and both suspect Bobby may have something to do with it. The episode does a great job in teasing the viewers with the 'Is Bobby A Ghost?' till the very last moment.

"Party On, Garth" is another win for "Supernatural".

Warning: Spoilers
Season 7 of Supernatural is the humorous season. The "Party On Garth" episode is one the more funny instalments this season. The Garth character is a ploy for comic relief. Garth is a contrast character for the Winchester brothers. Garth is part of the younger computer generation which lacks social skills. Garth's lack of social skills is comical with the brothers old school ways of hunting. The storyline is silly. Party On Garth is a mix of Supernatural meets the Grudge/Ring. A Japanese revenge gift is unleashed on a family. One can only see the ghost when one is intoxicated. The surprise part of the episode is the re-introduction of the character Bobby. The Bobby character adds chemistry to the show which has been missing since his omission. Supernatural is on the upswing again. I give Party on Garth a seven out of ten.

Interesting Twist

Warning: Spoilers
Dean's increased drinking has been a concern of Sam's throughout this season. This particular episode features an alcohol spirit which a person has to be drunk to see. It would therefore be expected that Dean would be the one sloshed and watching the Shojo. Ironically, at the end of the episode, Drinker Dean is the only sober hunter while Sam and Garth are incapacitated...the one time it would actually benefit Dean to be drunk, he isn't! Other random notes:
  • Garth is an awesome addition, it's always interesting to see other hunters and how their styles and attitudes compare and contrast with the Winchesters'
  • The final scene with the big Bobby reveal. All the feelz!

Funny Episode
claudio_carvalho6 March 2013
Garth heads to Junction City, Kansas, to "garth" a ghost that has killed on teenager and he burns his bones in the cemetery. When he is ready to return, the brother of the victim is also killed in the same "modus-operandi" and Garth calls Dean and Sam to help him to get rid of the supernatural creature. Soon they realize that the ghost has been sent by a revengeful man to seek revenge against his former business partners and can only be seen by drunken people.

"Party on, Garth" is a funny episode with the clumsy, but efficient Garth Fitzgerald IV. His sentences using the verb "to garth" are very original and hilarious. My vote is seven.
