This finale, like all the season finales since season 2, features the song "Carry On Wayward Son" by Kansas. The first chorus, first verse and second chorus of the song are usually used, with the "Road So Far" montage ending on the last line of the second chorus. However this finale is the first (and only finale so far) to add the bridge of the song. The lyrics of the bridge are: "Carry on/ You will always remember/ Carry on/ Nothing equals the splendor/ Now your life's no longer empty/ Surely Heaven waits for you". After the bridge the chorus plays one more time. This makes the season 7 finale montage the longest in the series.
Season 7 marks the first season to include 23 episodes per season. All previous seasons, except for season 3 with 16 episodes due to a writers strike, included 22 episodes per season. All seasons, starting with season 7, now have 23 episodes per season.
Dick Roman calls Sam and Dean "Frick and Frack." He is referring to the Swiss ice skating comedy duo who were members of the original Ice Follies in 1937.
The return of Baby, Dean's 1967 Impala after being absent for sixteen episodes in a row. Except in a small flashback scene that took place four years earlier in Repo Man (2012).
This is the last episode with Sera Gamble as showrunner before Jeremy Carver returned to the series after season 5 and took over as showrunner from seasons 8-11.
