- TriviaCharisma Carpenter and James Marsters are known for their roles in two other supernaturally themed shows; Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997) and Angel (1999).
- GoofsDean is telling Sam about two "freaky" deaths that occurred in Prosperity, Indiana over the last two weeks. The online article about the first victim, Carl Dunlap, describes the victim's death as being from "hypothalmia", which is not a real term, perhaps the writers meant "hypothermia". Both the next line, and Dean, elaborates that the victim "boiled to death in a hot tub." The correct term should've been either "hyperthermia", a higher than normal body temperature (100.9 °F or above), or even more accurately "hyperpyrexia", the clinical term for dangerously high body temperature (above 105.8 °F). Hypothermia is the clinical term for abnormally low body temperature (below 95.0 °F).

Don Stark: Wendy was nothing to me. It was over as soon as it started.
Maggie Stark: She was part of a pattern, okay? I've had 800 years of this. Do not make me bring up the Renaissance!

Too cute
One of the standing issues of Season 7 (and onward) is the tone and style of the show started to slip on the writers a bit as they tried to expand the show in different directions. This episode is a good example of ton getting away from them. This is not a horror, or horror-comedy. It is farce with a thin veneer of gore. It is largely fun and funny-hey Spike is in it-but it is a overly cute episode with several gags that don't land. It is lacking the edge the show use to have.
