While not flawless, this episode was a wonderful example of how well the Walker cast, crew, and writers perform under pressure.
Again.
This time, lead Jared Padalecki was in a serious car accident, so the ensemble pulled up and the episode went "Cordell Light."
When a title character isn't the focus it's tough, and when it's a sudden switch up, not mandated by the topic? Tougher.
They pulled it off extremely well.
---
Director Austin Nichols had any number of amazing shots and the score selected fit perfectly. Very glad he had a sure hand on the rudder.
The cast members all moved their stories forward with dialogue true to the characters and relationship tidbits that were great to watch.
(Bonham giving dating advice to Liam--interrupted mid kiss.
Abby taking charge and giving pithy orders to Dan & Denise.
Trey being a good pal and a stalwart hero.
And Dan. What an emotional journey tonight for Dan.)
---
Plus Cordell himself was heroic, even if his screen time was limited. He and James pulled off a significant emotional beat, bringing in Miles after a very dangerous encounter. (The bullet-scored hat he showed Cassie an effective touch.)
That last look Perez gave as her partner came in, very much alive? I'm hooked for the final two episodes.
