This is what action comedies need to be like. I mean it.
GiraffeDoor26 November 2019
One of my very favourite episodes of the show.

Very narrative driven without even having an into-plot. I guess it's a parody of Taken but what it is is a wonderful Brian and Stewie outing and they are in full action hero mode.

A compelling story involving Stewie using his intelligence to first solve the mystery of where Megatron is (that's her real name you know XD), and then a delightful pastiche of the action genre filled with all the superb shenanigans you would expect from this pair.

The humour is dark, unapologetic and does that wonderful Family Guy thing of deftly merging the absurd with the mundane for a constantly jarring effect. Throw in some super actiony sequences that are brilliantly animated and yet still always a little funny and you've got magic.

I also love how this episode is testimony to how much they really care about Meg and the lengths they will go to save her. The episode sort of snatches happiness away from her but they sort of do it well.

All done in a wonderful Parisian setting.

Family Guy gets back to their bread and butter: cutaway gags.
dodsongov13 May 2012
In this episode, the writers actually return to the humor of Family Guy circa 2008 and 2009. The difference in this episode as compared to episodes from recent years is that they return to the usage of "cutaway gags" more frequently. In the mid 2000's, the cutaway gag is what made Family Guy great. But since 2010, many of the episodes have been dark and disturbing, even too much for me, and I love twisted humor. Extreme violence and sadism is not funny to me, and I assume that it's probably not very funny to others either. I loved Family Guy the most when Peter made static electricity all around the house in "feetie pajamas" being "Electric Man". That kind of nutty humor IS Family Guy. But the brutal murder of a cat, a man getting brutally beaten in front of his family on Christmas, and a dog tripping out on mushrooms and having very disturbing and violent hallucinations are NOT funny- I'm not sure if it's because the Henry brothers aren't involved in the writing as much or what. But this newest episode was far better than some of what we've seen in recent years. Let's hope they continue the trend.
