The Undercover Detective
claudio_carvalho9 January 2022
When the undercover detective Yolanda Concepcion is found murdered near her car after leaving a night-club, the CBI agents assume the case. They investigate the case and learn that her nanny did not like the Yolanda and the victim's husband fires he. Meanwhile the agents find a witness, the hooker Summer, and soon they believe the detective might be having a love affair. Meanwhile Patrick has a chat with Yolanda's partner Bianca, who tells that she would never cheat her husband. Soon he plots a plan to catch the killer.

"Pink Tops" is another episode of "The Mentalist" where there are many twists. The killer is probably the less suspect to have killed the detective, but Patrick solves the case. My vote is eight.

Horrible episode considering how the last one ended

Warning: Spoilers
"Blinking Red Light" had an interesting ending, in that Jane approaches a Red John murder scene and the episode ends with no dialogue about it. It felt like there should "to be continued" at the end. In this episode, it should have begun in the bullpen or Jane's office, with the team talking about Panzer and Red John. It feels like I missed an episode because the previous episode was left open-ended.

"The X-Files" is the epitome of great mythology writing. Two feature films and a continuation of the series resulted. I have never been interested in science fiction but I loved the series and the movies. This show is WAY off the mark. Sure, there were a lot of stand-alone episodes of "The X-Files" but I don't recall any mythology episodes where the final scene was open-ended and was not resolved.

As much as Patrick Jane's character intrigues me, this show has fallen down my list of best crime drama shows ever on TV. Leaving no doubt that Red John was killed in season 6 but before the season finale - and a weird final season (7) - there was really no hope this show could replicate what "The X-Files" did.

The producers and writers on this show did not think big enough.
